Official Entrepreneur/Business Thread vol.1

NDAs and IP agreements are essentially worthless. What happens if they infringe? Do you have the money to retain counsel and go after them? Keep in mind that they are 5,000 miles away, in a different jurisdiction.

So what isn't worthless? Companies and people outsource all the time. Your saying there is 0 protection and that legal contracts are worthless.

If we had to go after him ofcourse we would do everything in our power. Our app is very successful.

There are def some reputable 3rd party developer that can make your app and not try and steal your idea. Gigster seems to be a big one right now.

Also, @BeezyGotSole   have you considered paying someone a flat fee instead of hourly to develop your app, it may end of saving you a lot more time and money in the long run. Because I know alot of developers "tend to run into alot of more problems" when they are paid hourly vs flat fee.

We got our guy off of Upworks. He's good and we have no issues with him , but he has hit his skill limit for the direction our app is headed.

Not once has he stalled us to get more money. We agreed on upon 60 hours max before starting the project and that is what we paid for our initial release.

We are looking to do a flat fee for an American developer.

That's awesome I def have heard some horror stories about 3rd party developers stretching out projects. I highly suggest you check this week in startups with jason calcanius. He has some great insights into the startup industry and also has some pretty amazing tech entrepreneurs on there as well. Best of luck with your endeavors. Sorry for the late reply

A local convenience store just closed down by where I work and all I can think about is buying it and opening a smoothie/juice/breakfast/lunch place. I've been working in restaurants for almost 10 years now and I know this location very well, I just know if it was done correctly it'd be a successful business

It's all I've been thinking abouyrecently :frown:

Posted this August 11 last year, thought about it every day but didn't do **** and now I just saw a "coming soon" sign for the EXACT type of place I wanted to do, in the town I was talking about. I'm absolutely heartbroken but also very angry at my self for procrastinating and not making any moves. Really really really ****ing sucks. While I was ****ing around and thinking about it, they were making moves :smh:

Thread needed a bump. Where the (real) entrepreneurs at? No drone businesses, no sneaker/clothing reselling hobbies.

I got a bunch of weed accessories I feel I created on my notes app. Some of it simple or rolling paper designs. But some are cool tho and I’d like to see em.

Yea I’m sure not sure how to go about it tho I don’t live in a weed friendly state
Set up an IG page with your products and go from there. I think you can make a shopify store without issues but I think you just have to have a different payment gateway since shopify payments won't allow it. If not I'm sure you could just sell them on esty.

Just type in weed accessories in Google and you'll see a bunch of stores to get some ideas.

Yeah IG is a good place to start. If you can get a prototype of the product made just post it on IG and look up what hashtags similar companies are using. See if there is interest for it before you start producing. Videos showing a human using the product would be good too. A lot of smoke accessory shops do this to show how the product works.

Working to open a retail shop, lux accounts and contemporary streetwear. No shoes.

At the moment, I have a decent network running thriving businesses and shops but lack the financial resources. It’s a constant work in progress so I’m in this thread for any insight, advice, mentoring I can get.

I also run a mental health 501c3 nonprofit with the lady. We host workshops and events, partnering with artists and galleries mostly to bring a creative aspect to focus. More time and attention will be brought to the forefront as we secure more funding through grants this year.

I’m not a full time entrepreneur at the moment but have enough on my plate for weeks on end..
