JB 2014 Year in Review

2014 is coming to a close. JB has released their full roster of sneakers (besides the Fragment 1 tomorrow which the majority of us will not see). What are your overall impressions of the year, shoes of the year, and how 2014 ranks on the all time list?

-I thought 2014 was the strongest overall year since 2011. As an XI lover I loved that we got 3 lows and 2 mids (most since 2001).
-The 6s were done ok...the retro plus colors weren't great besides the Infrared 23 pair.
-The I had a some solid releases with the white and black and baron pairs being my favorites.
-The III had two of the best retro + colorways in its history (sport blue & infrared) and one of the worst in the wolf grey pair.
-The xiii had two great shoes (grey toes and red pods), a solid colorway with weird materials (3m) and those awful holograms.
- The baron ix was a great retro+.
-Concord lows finally! Snakes and cement lows were solid too.
-Legend blue and Pantone XIs were a great way to close the year.

Release of the Year - Legend Blue XI.
Retro + of the year - Infrared 23 VI.
Trash of the Year - Wolf Grey III

I will say cigars and champ pack. Totally different but great retro + colors concept.
 
Infrared VI was my only pickup of JB brand this year. Glad those came out, other than that don't have much of an opinion. Kinda moved on from the brand and hype.
 
Only thing copped infared 6s and some blk/blk air maxs as everyday shoes other than that was a pass except ferraris colubias and carmines. Can still cop one out the three debating
 
Best Release Of The Year - XI "Legend Blue"

Biggest Disappointment Of The Year - VI "Black Infrared"

Retro+ Of The Year - XIII "Gym Red" (Red Pods - if it can be considered a retro+)

Best OG Colorway Release Of The Year -  I "Black/White" and VI "Carmine"

2014 wasn't my year, didn't care for the VIs that dropped outside of the Carmines and Black Infrared which the latter I was really disappointed in quality (still no durabuck and used 2012 IV material. The 2013 VIII Playoffs are much nicer). Sad to hear the IIIs are going in the vault indefinitely but "remastered" kicks next year although not holding my breath on return of OG molds/materials. Retro+ CWs aren't my thing, although I'll make exceptions if I think if it can fit in the OG lineup (the Toro Bravo IVs for example). I was catching up on 2013 releases for the majority of 2014.

Worst - gym red xiii
Best Sample - jordan brand classic Futures
Most underrated - ferraris

Good year but nothing really sticks out besides the Cigar & Champaign pack slam dunk 6's & spizke 6 Ferrari 14's

this is the first year since 2009 I only bought 1 Jordan 11 not 2 pairs

very happy and lucky that I got a pair of the db'8's for retail

A lot of solid releases but I also skipped a lot of shoes
passed on most retro 1's

Almost all the low 11's expect the concords & all the retro 2 releases.

My favorite shoes in 2014 weren't even Jordans it was both the supreme Foamposite


didn't bother this year with any of that Jordan future crap shoes were ugly looking and I didn't see the appeal to them

2014 was whatever. Got more older release pre 2005 then new releases. Only notable kicks I liked were the Lance Mountains, and Blk/Wht OG 1s.
 
Even though I didn't cop a single retro all year. This was the only shoe that stood out to me. And was the only shoe that made my head turn. Quality was great and stayed true to the original. Everything else can take a hike.

2014 was the year JB found a way to F*** up the 13s, :smh: my most favorite and nostalgic sneaker.

Ferraris were my last cop but honestly all the hype with jb is making it easier for me to transition to asics lol

I think 2014 was a great year if you're a retro fan. I don't remember ever getting shoved with so much retro product down our throats like we got in 2014.  Nike knew we were thirsty for Retro J's and they didn't disappoint. We got retro's in I, II, III, VI, VIII (DB), IX, X, XI, XIII, and XIV. 2014 was a year that we'll look back on and find some real gems. There are so many sleeper shoes that drop this year that people are going to really kick themselves for not getting. Shoe of the year for me was the Retro 6 Spizike. The quality on the Spizike's 6's is something that I hope we'll see on next year's remaster releases.

Air Jordan XI Low Concord

Worst 3 releases from 2014:

Air Jordan 3 Wolf Grey

Air Jordan 3 Powder Blue

Air Jordan 6 Cigar/Champagne

I hope Jordan Brand takes notices with some of their retro product sitting and pulls back a little next year. Too many products releasing too often really dilutes the brand. That's not even including all the hybrid drops we've got like the lab series and Future's. It'll be interesting to see how 2015 turns out but I don't think it'll be as good as 2014. 
 
Copped the Powder Blue 3s (very underrated) , White/Infrareds VIs (also underrated), White/Red 2s, Sport Blue VIs, Legend Blue XIs… Even though I struck out on the Carmines and overslept on the Black/Infras… I was happy enough

This year my favorites were the Legend Blue XI and the Ferrai 14. I was able to get these. The one I regret missing out on were the powder blue Xs
The worst shoe for JB would have to be the wolf grey 3s wasn't a big fan
 
Best retro of 2014- Grey toe 13, Powder 10.

Best retro +- Baron 9.

Worst of 2014-
Legend blue 11 -long awaited for many collectors, only to get duped with a off white patent and leather, and a "teal" clear sole, and a unjustified price hike.(Overall legends=Trash)

Almost as bad as the legend 11,,
is the Black/pinkfrared 6, 1 last time for the blind, "they're not infrared ", they're
"100% Pink".
...PERIOD...

2014 saved me Alot of $$$$.

I was going to say either these or the white/infrared 6s were my favorite this year. I regret not grabbing 2 of these while they were abundant.
 
I think the top 5 Jordan Releases in 2014 for me go in this order:

Infrared 23 VI
Black Infrared VI
Pantone XI
Slam Dunk VI
Ferrari XIV
 
Looks like the wolf grey 3 is almost unanimously loathed.,,I stupidly bought them from eastbay hoping they would look better in person. Thankfully I was able to sell them at retail and only be out the 9 dollars for shipping.
