At 149, Dolphins pick RB Jay Ajayi, says Andy Slater.

STEALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dolphins load up on versatility. :pimp:

Exactly what you need when you spend money on 2-3 big pieces, ala Suh and Tannehill.

Dolphin Draft:

WR DeVante Parker
DT Jordan Phillips
OG Jamil Douglas
CB Bobby McCain
RB Jay Ajayi
S Ced Thompson
CB Tony Lippett

Fellas......if La'el Collins is cleared, his agent is the same agency that used to be run by Tannenbaum. And with no income tax, Collins could make more cash in Miami, than any other roster. :nerd:

Parker, Ajayi, Phillips, Collins, all in one haul? :nerd:

That would be a huge steal, basically getting a 1st rounder for nothing.

Overall, we had a pretty solid draft, but I just wish we would've went after someone to fill a definite need with that 2nd round pick. Phillips scares me with his back issues sometimes inconsistent play. It'll be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Very pleased with our draft. Seems like we got great value at almost every pick.

Was the 2nd round pick smart? That's the only one I have an issue with, given the needs at OG.

He was a first round talent that slipped to rd 2, AND we traded back and added picks for him.

Both publications I had had him in rd 1. Also, DT was mentioned several times as a need to enhance Suh. Like last year, signing Albert, and drafting James. Same ideal.

We had a huge need at OG, and MLB. But adding Phillips is also a smart move because it allows us to be a bit more dynamic in the middle which opens things up for whoever we stick inside for MLB. It's basically a compliment to Suh, our interior should open things up for our front 7.

We also drafted a starting OG in Jamil, who could've had a high third round grade.

Excellent draft, Omo.

Thanks fellas. Looking forward to seeing the new and improved run D.

What happens with Earl now? Rotations?

Need to read more on the new OG

Earl will be in rotation, probably competition for a starting role. Our front 4 will be great because our LB's can focus on coverage, taking pressure of of defensive backfield too.

I think Dion Jordan could've made a HUGE leap this year, reminiscent of the d-line rotation the Giants used in 2011-2012.

:smh: Was feeling good until I saw that name. Biggest bust in franchise history. Even more than John Avery or Yatil. What a gift from Mr. Ireland.

So I was reading today a lot of people question the Phillips pick...

I LOVE THE PICK.

Few reasons:
1) Measurables... Dude is 6'5"/330 ... off top, with his explosion, he will demand double teams off of sheer mass alone. Suh will take two as well, Vernon and Wake will fly free. Or Suh will be left 1 on 1 with a guard, can't think of many guards in the NFL that can block Suh 1 on 1. Lastly the depth and talent the Dolphins have at Defensive line is New York Giants comparison worthy (on paper).

2) Defensive flexibility... Wanna go 4-3, done. Wanna go 5-2, done. Wanna go 3-4, done. Sub packages, done. The dolphins have the flexibility for play calling and match-ups with this Huge body in the middle. Wanna put Suh as a DE? Done... Put Mitchell/Johnson + Jordan in the middle, Vernon opposite Suh and Wake as the Rushing OLB... Are you kidding me?

3) Value... Dolphins not only got a first round talent, which MANY mocks had him going to the Colts and such, but they did so by trading down and grabbing more picks.

4) Healing after a surgery... If you are anyone, except Adrian Peterson, it usually take 2 football seasons to not only be 100% healthy but to gain ALL your strength back. So many people lose sight of Healthy vs. Being 100% back to old playing self (strength, explosion, agility, and mental... not worrying about being hurt again). This will be his second season in a system and on a team that is very defensive line friendly.

5) Linebacker... I like Misi in the middle, Jenkins is a beast and I love McCain. But Misi gets hurt which I suspect Tripp will get his shot soon and McCain will need help keeping people off of him. Boom, Big DTs to solve the MLB problem. If the offensive line can't fire off and get into the second level then the linebackers get to fly around and Just Make Plays! Hull could get a nice shot at MLB as well... see Zach Thomas. Measurables and such are very similar.

Love the pick... can't wait for the season.

Miami Dolphins: A-

Picking at Nos. 14 and 52, the Dolphins essentially wound up landing two first-round talents in wide receiver DeVante Parker and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. Hard to believe either guy was available at the spot he was picked. Parker was but a hair (if that) behind Amari Cooper and Kevin White at receiver—both those players were gone by No. 7, with multiple teams in need of a playmaker between No. 8 and Miami's spot. Likewise, Phillips had suitors toward the tail end of round 1 (Indianapolis would have been a match).

Guard Jamil Douglas, cornerback Bobby McCain and in particular running back Jay Ajayi all were welcome finds on Day 3. Concerns over a knee issue lowered Ajayi's stock, but he was well worth a round 5 play.—CB
