OFFICIAL 2015 M!AM! DOLPH!NS SEASON THREAD (6-10) / NEXT:

Deal seems fair, it's about market value for a QB of his caliber nowadays. Tanny threw for 4K yards with a 92.8 passer rating last season, other QBs that recently signed 100 million dollar extensions? Jay Cutler (88.6 passer rating), Colin Sackorpick (86.4), and Matt Stafford (85.7). Market is overblown, but our front office protected itself here by only guaranteeing the first two years of the contract. I like the move.

Starks, Ellerbee, Wheeler, Gibson. I think Hartline MIGHT survive.

Unless he is a WR3 or WR4, I want no parts of Mr. Fall Down from Wind

I read on PFT that there's been no talks as of yet but not sure I believe Hyde started making things up

Read ESPN this morning did you?

I feel it though.

Hartline is not a good fit for this offense imo. Would much rather have Wallace/Landry/Matthews as the starting lineup. Granted Miami does nothing in FA and the Draft. Flex Clay as the 4 and use Miller as the 5.

Now, draft wise I would love to see Kevin White early... if not Dorsett (day 2) or Mayle (day 3). Love both those guys.

Look fellas, it works like this, last year Matt Moore made 4 million dollars.

Tannehill made 3.167 mil.

He deserves his money. And to put into context.

Rodgers
Ryan
Flacco
Brees
Peyton
Kap
Cutler
Romo
Stafford
Alex Smith
Palmer
Eli
Dalton
Rivers

Allllllll make 15 mil +

Now add Russ and Luck and Cam and Ben who are all up for extensions. All will make more than 15. That's 18 QB's who will make more than Tannehill. Is Tannehill the 19th best QB in the NFL, or is he better than that?

And with 2 years guaranteed, when he's 26-27 years old, with no good QB's in this draft, with no good free agents looming, how exactly is this contract not an absolute BOON for the Dolphins?

Making 19th money, but playing within that top 10-12 range, while allowing us to spend another 5-6-7-8 million dollars PER YEAR on other parts of the roster? Shiiiiiiii

7/105, only 2 of the years guaranteed is a STEAL folks. Get with the program, and embrace the deal. Whether you like him or not, that's a great deal for the Dolphins.

lol I'm pretty sure we all agreed though CP, unless i missed something.

You, my friend, are just NT hard wired to make your point.

I think what was reported is a good deal. Having the third year out... two years guaranteed... incentive based beyond that. Smart and Good deal.

There are some eyerolls out there, Twitter, fans of other teams here on NT, etc that hear the words "105 million", and scoff.

I want our fanbase aware, and understanding of the issue, and supporting it ten fold. I want the RIGHT information out there. Not people boo hooing 105 million like he's going to get all that if he sucks in 2 years.

CP the fact of the matter is that the Dolphins aren't nationally televised very much anymore, so the casual NFL fan still thinks that Tanny is a mediocre QB. I get in this argument with my roommate all the time and it's so damn frustrating.

eye sea whut yooh ded their.

Yea man, Jay Mohr started at the top of the hour stating "Dolphins are looking to sign Ryan Tannehill to $105 million dollar contract, yeeesh", he is a Jets fan so him dogging the Dolphins happens. But I'm sure people are out there doing as much. I thought that was a shot from in here though, lol.

Troll twitter sn aside, I've laid off of him. I have bigger targets, bigger organizational problems with this football team. When you look at this team making 5 Super Bowls in 15 years, it really makes you think of how great this team once was.

We've got to do better in 2015. I can't believe it's been 6 years since I saw us get our @%^ kicked in the playoffs at Pro Player.

A part of me wants to extend our QB. Another part wants us to take advantage of the cap space because of his rookie contract.

Extending now will take up quite a bit of the cap but it could cost us much more in the future.

No way Shelton will be there @ 17 for the Chargers. If he's there @ 14, he's a Dolphin

Ryan set a franchise record with 392 completions & his completion percentage of 66.4 was the 2nd-best in team history

Imagine if #13 played with today's "rules". Dude would've thrown for at least 6000 yards and 60 TD's in a season. By the way Chad Pennington, not Marino, has that team best completion percentage mark for a season at 67.4.

I really don't like the FA's coming out. Maxwell will get a lot of money I believe.

From there it's filler, but I have two I would spend money on.

Chris Culliver and/or Buster Skrine,
Skrine reminds me of a younger Grimes. Similar game, less explosion on his jumping. Problem with that is having two Grimes' on the edges... If it were me I would get 6'0-6'3 corners and play zone... but that's me.
Culliver is bigger and what I would like, can play in either zone or man system. Would be a good fit opposite Grimes. Had good production in a down year for that defense and team.

I would sign either of those guys, but I'm not a fan of this group of free agents nor would I over pay for anyone... it's not worth it when the Dolphins used a 2nd round on Jamar Taylor and a 3rd round on Will Davis... COACH THEM UP! With signing a CB you now bring in a 7th corner (including Aikens, Finn who will still be on the team and Stanford) which is needed, but forgetting to coach up last years two picks is a problem. Which is why I choose to draft a DT, then WR before corner in the first. I don't see it as a bigger problem. I honestly see Safety as a bigger issue to free up Reshad Jones to continue his great play as well... three positions before CB.

He's been fine, had an OK year but was on an exceptional defense. And he's 31/32, will command a lot of money... he played for Bowles and I think he would go to NY again.

Just my hunch.
