OFFICIAL 2015 M!AM! DOLPH!NS SEASON THREAD (6-10) / NEXT:

"Cutting Ellerbe & Wallace as the two pre-June 1 cuts, and waiting till June 1 to cut Wheeler allows the team to create $27.45M in cap space."

Nate Garner was released. Meh... Grade A choke artist.

Cortland Finnegan was released.

Just waiting for Ellerbe and Wheeler.

Ellerbe and Wheeler will be cut later in the process, June 1 cuts. (don't have to wait til June 1, just the designation)

Starks is another one that could get the ax.

Hopefully all three (starks) will.

I didn't mean today, I meant eventually. I think the open date for the June 1st cuts is March 10th... could be wrong though.

Charles Clay got the transition tag... $7 million

f-ck

too much, hope they come to a reasonable deal.

I honestly don't think so. Rishard has no real room to demand this. He isn't getting paid more than a million and is no real cap threat.

This, to me, is just a two fold problem. The first being is the Dolphins haven't been the greatest at resigning talent. At $7 million a year, or there about, it is WAY too high for me. Not for someone who is constantly hurt and for someone who is so off and on with his hands. He is a great mismatch with linebackers and safeties when healthy and targeted if he catches it. But he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid TE in the league... not even close. Now the market dictates that, of course, but I wouldn't tie myself to him.

Second being transition tag means someone can sign him without the Dolphins getting any picks from it. If that happens I'm fine with it... Sims, Lynch and then Jesse James in the draft. I'm 100% good to go. What I don't like is the Dolphins getting nothing for him, not even a compensation draft pick.

Matthews hasn't done anything. He didn't demand a trade, or to be cut, or anything. He's attacking whoever claims he did.

Bottom line, they just testin the market, with a safety net. If someone offers him a ton of money, see ya later. If no huge deal comes thru, we can sign him for another 2-3 years and work out a fair extension.

Stated that way... actually makes me pretty happy with the situation.

We basically have no money tied up in 2016.

We cut the dead weight now, sign Suh, extend Tannehill, we could revamp both sides of the ball using next year's cap space.

Might just work.

Ok......And I hope CP remembers when I told him about us signing Dansby before free agency even start.

I know someone that I use to get early release J's for that works for the front office. He's the one that told me about us getting Dansby right before free agency started. He calls me today and asks me what size do I want my Suh jersey in? He says it's not set in stone but would be shocked if we don't sign him up. I asked him why Philbin was still here, because they knew the coach they wanted this yr was going to Michigan. I told him they better get Wayans, says he's def on their board.

good info.

I would love for Suh to be in Miami, 2016 has plenty of room for wiggle as well. Still need to make moves though (Wallace, Ellerbe, Wheeler, Starks, Fields)... Paying a punter that much to shank kicks... :smh:
Anyway, I think that will be telling in the coming days... I believe Saturday is officially open for contract talks and everything. Ross has shown he will swing for the fences over the years, should be another fun off-season.

Some are saying, he could be using the Dolphins to push up his price. Not sure who would break the bank over what he's commandinf

It's always possible he's using us to drive up his price, all FA's do that.

But we wanted Wallace in 2013, and we got him.
We wanted Albert in 2014, and we got him.
If we want Suh in 2015, and we have the money to do it, he has a home there, no income taxes, he could nudge us into playoff contention, decent defense around him with Wake, Grimes, Jones, Jenkins, Vernon, Jordan, Misi, Taylor........maybe he'll sign.

Or he could make 10-15 million dollars more on paper in Oakland, not win a thing, and pay a ton of taxes.

Up to him.

Might have already been said but Mike Tannenbaum and Jimmy Sexton (Ndamukong Suh's agent) go way back.

Chris Kouffman @ckparrot · 2h 2 hours ago
Sexton is agent to Parcells, Sparano, Tebow. Tannenbaum & he sat together at the funeral of Bill Parcells' brother Donald

Chris Kouffman @ckparrot · 2h 2 hours ago
Tannenbaum had to explicitly deny at one point that he traded for Tim Tebow as a favor to Sexton.

Imagine if MIA grabbed Suh, kept Odrick, then traded up for Amari Cooper. Unless the secondary ends up a disaster, that'd be pretty good.

Chris Kouffman @ckparrot · Mar 4
This CLEARLY is not a case of Miami being used. Suh is in Miami, being wooed by the Dolphins. They're in mid-woo. His first FA visit...ever.

Richard Santamaria @RiSantamaria · Mar 3
Miami fans will have a blast saying Ndamukong. ESPN's John Clayton has the Dolphins as his favorites for Suh's services. #Suh #Dolphins

Shhhhhhhhh

Look for Suh deal to be massive. I keep hearing$17M/year and $60M-plus guaranteed. If he doesn't land in Miami won't be for lack of effort

Cash, money.

If we land Suh, keep Odrick, and trade up for Amari...

(I'm smiling as I type this.)

Man!
