OFFICIAL 2015 M!AM! DOLPH!NS SEASON THREAD (6-10) / NEXT:

There's your list finnnnns, go ahead big guy, pick the QB out of that class that is going to be better than Ryan Tannehill.

Then look at that list, and outside of #1's like Cam, and Luck, who on that list is CLEARLY better than Ryan Tannehill?

Your kryptonite Russ Wilson.

All jokes aside, it's gotta be a 1st rounder but his contract dictates that. My realistic senses tell me he goes into camp with a new coach and "competition" at QB, and by 2017 is no longer the starter sans a playoff trip in 16. Best case scenario, a new coach goes "Jay Gruden" on this team and goes with the hand picked successor but that's more my hate seeping in...

So yeah, right now Tannehill is unfortunately the guy until the new coaching staff gets in here, then the speculation starts. If you think Tannehill is the guy for the next 5-10 years, I'd love to hear how that will work.

I told you already, multiple times.

Stack drafts, multiple, and coach them up to do their jobs right.

Then he will do his, and wins will come.

Remember Fiedler getting more wins than Marino? Why you think that was?

Better. Talent. Around. Him.

Same with Russ. Russ got Sherm, Kam, Bobby Wagner, Bennet, Earl, KJ, Avril.

We got Suh, Jones, and Jamar Taylor. Aikens, McCain, etc etc etc.

Must be nice to be Russ, eh? He doesn't have to throw 45 times now does he? They actually use their RB.

Miller was gettin 6 yards a carry yesterday, it was 14-7, and 14-14, why stop usin him????????????

Also, Ryan has missed one half in his career. One. Half. Vs the Jets. And he's been DRILLED as our QB. Tough, durable QB's aren't easy to find.

You're gonna learn man.

I think it's fairly obvious that Tannehill hasn't been the biggest problem for the team this season. He certainly has to improve, but the Dolphins have bigger fish to fry

In terms of taent, as most of you have stated, they need to improve the offensive line, get better LB's, and get more depth in the secondary. Of course injuries play a role, but every team deals with injuries. The problem is this roster wasn't constructed properly, so when a starter gets injured we're screwed. Hell we were screwed from day 1 becasue they completely ignored the LB position in the off-season.

But we all knew the game along with our season was pretty much over as soon as Dallas converted that 3rd and long. So who do ya'll like as a replacement head coach? Should we go after another "highly praised" coordinator or a proven guy?

At this point, I just want someone who is competent. But even more so, I want someone whose been around greatness and knows what it takes to win. Maybe that guy is Sean Payton? I don't know... But this can't keep going on like this. :smh:

  love the CP rants, this is what I come to NT for

Good points. BUT, why is it that some of the more respected guys like ckparrot and joe w dolphins are starting to place the crosshairs on the QB?

You know, I hammered Jamar Taylor for what went off with him covering out there. Hammered Pouncey for that bad snap. Aikens doesn't belong starting in the NFL, I said that. Campbell is a JV coach, I said that. Tannenbaum, Hickey, Ireland, everyone has screwed us. Stephen Ross has absolutely screwed this franchise.

The sad part is this team will find a way to beat NYJ and SD and Balt and give people hope about a wildcard spot. If we're going to suck, then I want the 5-11/4-12/top 8 pick and let a new regime build the right way. 8-8 and 7-9 is quicksand

You have misread then......

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
If you were to put together a reel of Tannehill's deep vertical throws this year, a lot of people would **** immediately. Just sayin.

Simon Clancy ‏@SiClancy Nov 22
@ckparrot Can't think of many he's missed. Funny how the Vikings don't throw deep to Mike Wallace though #justsaying

I forgot to mention this myself. Remember the Narrative "Tannehill can't throw deep"? How many has he NAILED this year? Even the Landry drop, that ball him him flat in both hands, IN his chest, and he flat dropped it. It was off a smidge, sure, but no QB can be perfect to a finite degree, at some point, the receiver who is paid to catch the ball, has to catch the ball.

Ryan has hit 1-2 deep passes a week now for the last several games.

Mike Wallace?

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
Hey look an ultra deep ball to Wallace that predictably goes incomplete because anyone w/ a brain knows it's hard to pit the ace at 60 yards

Has anyone seen what he's done this year? On a first place team no less.

28 receptions, on 52 targets, for 318 yards, and 1 TD Long 22

Kenny Stills
18 receptions, on 36 targets, for 331 yards, and 2 TD Long 46 (and he's missed games)

Lamar Miller
35 receptions, on 41 targets, for 330 yards, and 2 TD Long 54

Those are Ryan's #3 and 4 targets.

Matthews and Landry are

43 receptions on 60 targets, for 662 yards, and 4 TD, Long 53
63 receptions on 94 targets, for 651 yards, and 3 TD, Long 50

Wallace is playin like dirt for Teddy Bridgewater, and they are still a first place team. Wonder why that is........................

Anyway, CK is only complaining about Ryan speaking on the audible thing and not backing Lazor. He isn't bashing Ryan as a player, or saying he's finished, can't ever be good, etc, he's simply pointing out missteps as he makes them. Ala the Landry TD last week we got lucky on, That's the same play to Jennings yesterday, that McClain got. And oh by the way, is that Ryan's 2nd career pick 6? He had one his rookie year too, game 4 vs the Jets, I believe this was his second, ever. Dan used to throw Pick 6's like Christmas bonuses.

As for Joe W, finnns.......he's railing for Dak Prescott. Finnnns, he wants DAK, PRESCOTT. Dak, Prescott finnns. I mean, you really want to roll with Joe here? Joe, the guy on a first name basis with Omar? The guy Omar tweets every week to get his view on watching tape? That Joe? You want to put your faith there do ya? I mean, I like the guy, he's a smart guy, but he's bein emotional just like the rest of the fanbase that can only see one position, and not the other 20+.

CK? He sees the other spots.

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
Dallas Thomas. Always Dallas Thomas.

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
Mistake to give up on this possession with a punt. That's on Dan Campbell.

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
Put that on Walt Aikens. He was late coming over. The scheme doesn't call for a LB to cover Dez on a full post route.

Simon Clancy ‏@SiClancy Nov 22
Jamar Taylor is fast become Dallas Thomas.

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 22
I don't care if people get tired of me saying it. Jamar Taylor doesn't deserve to be out there. **** him.

Chris Kouffman ‏@ckparrot Nov 15
**** Damien Williams. Been calling out that no talent ******* for months. He's Daniel Thomas with a different name.

The Dallas Cowboys kicked off to the Miami Dolphins after taking the lead with a touchdown and making it 21-14. The kick return from Jarvis Landry was strange, because he allowed the ball to bounce in the endzone, rather than catching it. The bounce carried the ball out of the endzone and back toward the advancing Dallas coverage team.

Of course, since the ball was kicked over 10 yards, it is considered a live ball and Landry had to do something. He ran up, dove on the ball and covered it up at the Dolphins' four-yard line. But, as soon as he was called down, the Dolphins' return man began pointing at the sideline. Why?

Because, it appears there should have been a penalty called for a kickoff out of bounds, and the refs completely blew it.

View media item 1799922
Landry is clearly out of bounds when he grabs the ball. Since he is out of bounds, the ball should have been considered out of bounds the moment Landry touched it. That is, therefore, a penalty and Miami should have been given the ball at the 40 yard line. Instead, the Dolphins started with the at their four-yard line and, thanks to a holding penalty on a Ryan Tannehill first down run, would only gain a total of one yard on the drive before having to punt the ball away.

The refs blew this call, and blew it badly. The ref is clearly just behind Landry and should have seen the returner's foot out of bounds. He should have realized it when Landry started pointing at the sideline. Instead, they did nothing - not even discussing the possibility of a kickoff out of bounds - and Miami could do nothing about the play.

And, before the argument starts that a player out of bounds is not the ball out of bounds, on NFL.com's "Big Play Highlights," is this play in which Randall Cobb did EXACTLY what Landry just did.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000115426/Cobb-s-smart-play

UPDATE: I have confirmed that this play was challengeable by the Dolphins, though they did not choose to do so. Also, confirmed that the ball bouncing in the endzone did not have any impact on the play - it still could have been called a kickoff out of bounds.

At 8, we'd be in gooooooood shape.

Figure teams reach for 1-2 QB's. (Lynch or Goff)

Means we have our choice almost as a top 5 type defender.

Joey Bosa DE
Robert Nkemdiche DT
Jalen Ramsey CB/S
Vernon Hargreaves CB
Jaylon Smith LB

Or, one of the 2 top OT's (Shift Albert to LG)
Laremy Tunsil
Ronnie Stanley

Any of them fill huge need. Pick one brotha.

Say we had enough of OL and just pray Turner/Douglas/Thomas improve "a little".

Go 1-2-3 on Def.
Jaylon Smith LB 6-3 240
Shilique Calhoun DE 6-5 250
Cordrea Tankersley CB 6-1 195

Resign OV. Get Dion Jordan back??? :nerd:

Suh, Jones, OV, DJ, Jenkins, Philips, those 3 rooks

Start to have some hope, right? Lil bit better/deeper. Get solid DC, aggressive, versatile, maybe they can make some noise on D.

I can live with this. I don't think Albert can be counted on at LT for another season anyway. I saw Robinson on yahoo saying go get Payton. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.

I see the Bills and Jets lost, Fins could've been 5-5 in wildcard run but... we don't want/need that at this point.

Only, ONLY get Payton if he's let go. Do not trade picks for him. Do. Not.

I would never approve trading picks for a coach. Hate the entire idea of it.

If they fire him, fine, give him a call, but if the Saints keep him, but offer him up for picks, hell no.

Do you really see them firing him though? Hasn't he become somewhat of a legend in that community?

Dolphins held “take ownership” meeting on Monday

Coach Dan Campbell said the idea wasn’t to call out players for their errors, but to have them “take ownership” of them and called that accountability a “step in the right direction.”

“We pointed out our errors and guys owned up to them and had a good talk about it,” Campbell said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “We always have emotional days after a loss. Guys handled it well. They took ownership. There were enough guys that were frustrated. There is one cure and it’s winning. Things are going to be said that people don’t mean, no matter who you are.”

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was reportedly one of the most vocal players during the meeting with Jackson reporting that he was “angry and direct and blunt with his teammates” during the discussion.

Did Campbell take accountability for punting like a punk on every late game 4th down?

2013 Dolphins draft class:
-Dion Jordan 3rd overall :x
-Jamar Taylor 2nd round :x :x :x
-Dallas Thomas 3rd round :x :x :x :x :x
-Will Davis 3rd round :rolleyes :x
-Jelani Jenkins 4th round :rolleyes
-Dion Sims 4th round :rolleyes
-Mike Gillislee 5th round :x
-Caleb Sturgis 5th round :x :x :x

Good lord, that draft we had 8 picks in 5 rounds and didn't hit one home run. No wonder this team blows so much.

The thing that kills me about that draft...
No one has a CLUE if Dion Jordan is good or not.

He played out of position and was never given PT. GMs and Coaching Staff... good f-cking god...

As far as the draft, Bosa and Nkemdiche will be gone imo.

If the Dolphins pick at 8... which they won't because it's the dolphins and I fully expect them to pick at 14... I'd target Ramsey at Safety, Tunsil OT (and slide Albert to LG like I didn in Madden... GM yall) or VH at Corner. I fully believe all three are instant upgrades.

I would also go heavy defense and online depth. Say the Dolphins miss out on an OT, I'd go all in on draft day for only defense.

Well, Dion isn't helping himself with the drugs, but I agree that he was out of position. I envisioned a guy like him being moved around to create mismatches but not with this coaching staff. Also, he always made plays when given PT, but Philbin was allergic to impact plays

Phins will screw up and beat SD, Balt, NYJ, NYG and go 8-8 and miss out on all the elite talent again, happens every year.

Oh I fully agreed he's a moron for all that.

But agreed, he wasn't used to his talents what so ever. Which isn't a surprise to me in the least bit.

We claim Coples.

He played OLB in NY, better suited as 4-3 DE. Could be a nice pick up IF we figure out how to use him properly.

the old regime (Idzik/Rex) made him lose weight to become an OLB, which he isn't

he should be a decent player for you guys.

Gee... wonder what they'll do.

That's a lot of cash to give a guy up front. If Ross gives the OK, we know he's serious about winning. From a non-fan/rational financial perspective, I would understand if he isn't bout it tho

He already did it last year when he signed Suh, he'll do it again this year.

I have to hang my hat on something with this team. Ross being ridiculously rich is it.

Barry Jackson: Tannehill's worrisome AFC East issues

It is the easy reflex to give Ryan Tannehill the benefit of the doubt, because of the intriguing skill set, the nifty 27 to 12 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season, the sporadic flashes of excellence (including the perfect passer rating against Houston), the Dolphins’ inability to surround him with a sturdy enough offensive line, and the lack of appealing, available quarterback options outside the building.

But with the Jets looming on Sunday, this needs to be asked:

When does the starting quarterback stop playing his worst against the teams he plays the most?

Tannehill travels to The Meadowlands this weekend with a 7-15 record in the AFC East and 6-15 if you exclude a win against the Jets that he missed most of. (His teammates obviously also shoulder a lot of the blame for that 7-15 record).

What's more, he has a dismal career passer rating against each: 75.7 against the Bills, 75.5 against the Patriots and 67.2 against the Jets.

Take a look at Miami’s last 12 games against AFC East teams. They’re 3-9, have been outscored 328 to 177, and have topped 17 points just three times.

Of those 12 games, Tannehill has had only one good game, two decent ones and nine bad games; his passer rating has been below 80 (usually well below) in eight of them. That’s unacceptable.

Yes, his offensive line deserves a share of the blame for Miami’s offensive shortcomings in division matchups; Tannehill has been sacked 36 times in his past 12 games against AFC East opponents.

But even though the running game hasn’t been blameless, the passing game has been the much bigger problem. Consider: In those last 12 games against AFC East teams, Miami averaged at least 4.1 yards per rush in eight of them and had 80 yards rushing in a ninth.

The Dolphins weren’t concerned about Tannehill’s subpar play in division games when they gave him a contract that could reach $95 million.

But they should be if he has another disappointing game Sunday, considering Miami plays 37 percent of its schedule inside the division.

And though I'm not part of the replace-Tannehill crowd, drafting competition for him might be prudent if he fizzles over the final six games.
