Shaq is the kind Rex, Bill, Tomlin, Sea, SF etc would murk fools with.

If we go CB, great. If not, Shaq would make me really happy. A solid OG/OT would work as well.

Fully agreed.

Would Love to see Shaq in the teal... would hate to see him in no man's land like Jordan has been. Honestly I hate to see Jordan like that.

Shaq is the only one I would be fine to take right at 14... either way I would love to see a trade down.

Like I said... Coyle is, and will stay, in charge of that defense and he will continue to screw things up. Go ahead and get ready to see a lot of 3rd and Longs converted again...

There is nothing in his tenure that shows me he can utilize this group properly or that he has gown as a coach to become more creative and be a better coach than he has shown from the year before. Nothing.

As the North team was practicing this morning, I spotted Joe Philbin strolling up and down the sideline. He appeared to be trying to put on a poker face, but his interest clearly appeared to be in Danny Shelton, a defensive tackle out of Washington who was dominating nearly everyone who tried to block him. In fact, he was being held by so many desperate offensive lineman that his name and number had literally been ripped off his jersey.

Fully endorse this pick.

Would also like trading down for Malcolm Brown or staying put and getting Danny Shelton.

As long as there is no trading down to grab an Odrick and Misi, yeah laugh.gif

Earl or Dez were there for us mean.gif

Speaking of which, Ireland just got a job somehow with Atlanta roll.gif
post #99 of 1658
We had no need for Dez even tho we might have liked him.

Earl is another story, but Odrick and Misi vs just Earl, no guarantee Earl would be great with us without the 12 other Studs he has in Seattle. laugh.gif

Trading down is the right thing to do.

laugh.gif So you didn't disagree with what Fireland did? I hated his philosophies of not taking the BPA, it's probably what did him in.

I think trading down can be the right thing to do, but in the spot he was in? He picked a guy in Odrick that really hasn't made an impact, and Misi is hard to count on to stay healthy.

You're doing it again man. Where you just say stuff, and don't actually know what you're talking about.

Odrick has been solid as hell in Miami, just not a stats guy cuz he didn't get sacks at DE, hence the switch to DT. Why do you think he's going to be expensive this summer man? laugh.gif

And Misi was ok, just always hurt. mean.gif

I think you're overvaluing Odrick, personally. He's a solid player, but Earl Thomas and Dez are phenomenal players. I'm not saying he's a 0, but I don't agree with what Ireland did in that year's draft.

Solid as hell is fine, but it's the kind of thing that got us to a few 8-8 seasons in a row. Odrick was part of the problem on defense the last 8 games, partially from scheme and bad rotations, partially from just getting his #^& handled by OG's and C's.

Earl Thomas in Seattle is a phenomenal player. Cuz he has 10 other studs.

Guess what, Odrick in Seattle would be ridiculous too. And Earl might look like **** here in Miami with Kevin Coyle and our crappy LBers, etc.

See what I mean?

Imagine Dion Jordan here.

Put Dion Jordan in Seattle. Tell me how it looks.

Get what I'm sayin?

Ireland pulled Odrick and Misi. If that same duo when to New England, tell me how that would work out for them. laugh.gif

Interesting thread on finheaven if you guys want to take a look, some dude ended up clubbing with a Dolphin and talked to him about the state of the team. Team believes in Tannehill, high on Lazor, Wake is the leader blah blah but the one that caught my eye was the football team not believing in Philbin. If the team does not buy in to the head coach, you can forget about high success. Even with roster improvements, it's hard to envision a successful 2015 season with Philbin the queasy leading the way.

I would think Philbin and Coyle are linked one in the same. If I recall defensive players were complaining about him during the season weren't they?

The team likes Coyle overall, but had some questionable moments.

Also the team really likes Odrick and the guys on the team hope he's back. If not, they'll feel like the team doesn't take care of their own.

Found these interesting too, especially Ryan thinking about what could've been with BM

14. Miami Dolphins
Eric Gay/Associated Press

The Pick: Defensive Tackle Malcom Brown, Texas

The Miami Dolphins were able to patch together a solid defensive tackle rotation in 2014, but they need a young buck with the speed to cause problems for interior offensive lines. They're not getting that from Jared Odrick and Randy Starks.

Malcom Brown is 6'4", 320 pounds and can hold anchor to stop the run. He's also explosive enough off the ball to be a penetrator when working in the A- or B-gap. Brown can play the 1-tech or 3-tech and be an impact defender. He's been well-coached by Charlie Strong's staff, too, and comes to the league ready to roll as a starter on all three downs.

Mock I was reading this morning... would love to trade down and snag this pick while adding a few more picks in the 2nd or 3rd.

•1. Slash $34 million. This is the first step. Here are the salary-cap casualties (in millions) to frepossibilities: Dannell Ellerbe ($8.45) and Brian Hartline ($5.95) are the two allowable players for post-June 1 savings released before then. The others: Brandon Gibson ($3.26); Cortland Finnegan ($5.48), Randy Starks ($5); Shelley Smith ($2.75); and Philip Wheeler ($3).

The Miami Dolphins and impending free agent Jared Odrick are closing on a new deal that will keep him from hitting the open market, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Quote:
The fact that the Dolphins appear likely to re-sign Odrick explains why the Miami Herald considers Randy Starks a likely cap casualty.

Coming off a down year, the Dolphins could save $5 million in cap room by cutting Starks, who ranked 29th in defensive-tackle rankings after getting 28 tackles and 4.5 sacks a year ago. Starks signed a 2-year, $10 million contract with Miami a year ago, but they could be forced to cut him just one year into it if they want to keep Odrick.

The Dolphins are discussing a long-term extension with fourth-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel, with the "framework being a seven-year contract worth about $105 million (depending on incentives)."

The paper said the general idea is a $15 million annual salary with only the first two years guaranteed.
