NIKE METCON THREAD - 7s out now

Can anybody compare the fit of the flyknit racer to the metcons? I'd like to pick up a pair and might not have the opportunity to try them on first. I need a good shoe for leg day at the gym
I don't understand how ppl wear flyknit racers to lift (I see a lot of ppl rocking these at the gym). They're narrow as hell and don't seem too stable. The metcons are far superior for lifting.

I wear 10 in racers, 9.5 in Metcons    ( i wear races casually, would not lift in them, would not rip them apart during crossfit)

I'm guessing it has the new mesh as everything newer has it. I'm also wondering about the swoosh and sole if they have a color gradient on them. Or is it the photo.

I think the swoosh is solid white. None of the other color ways have a gradient and it doesn't show that in the picture MikeD posted either.

I don't understand how anyone can wear anything other than a lifting shoe to work out in lol, wearing chucks the last few years i feel that even the metcon is pretty soft for heavy squats, cant understand the people that wear air max, frees, asics kayano, mizuno wave riders, etc to the gym

Well I only wear my dedicated lifting shoes (adidas Powerlift) on leg days. Deadlifts I havent gone heavy on in a while cause my back so I dont need to really wear a shoe with much stabilitiy. My form is good enough where I can deadlift in pretty much whatever.

You dont need Metcons or whatever other workout specific shoe everytime youre at the gym. Theres no difference in back day (aside from DL's) or chest day working out in Metcons or Flyknits.

If youre doing Crossfit type workouts, Olympic lifts, or just have a program where you need a shoe like the Metcon then obvioisly.

well, looks like I got ripped off from a so called "friend" who works for nike. He has known my girlfriend for 15 years and I've known him since we've been together for the past 12. He was looking for some volt romaleos, so I sent him them and he was supposed to send me a pair of metcons when he could. Well, however long it's been since they've been out and he's now ignoring my messages and posts on his facebook. I also sent him $50 for a pair of the first release, but a pair he wore for like two weeks. So yeah, out a pair of romaleos and $50, damn.

So now, back to buying shoes like a normal human being. Really want this new orange colorway, but think I might try and track down the silver/gum versions first, any suggestions on the cheapest shippable option in a size 12, in the US?

edit: looks like finish line has them in, here we go

editedit: in the time it took me to water my plants, size 12 are gone, damn!!! (I know it was someone here )

editeditedit: in for the purp colorway from eastbay.

Anybody have any more info on when the 'Merica metcons will be released? I know Rogue says sometime in June but no specifics.

@rodrigofresh  will FNL be carrying these?  I've got a rewards coupon burning a hole in my pocket.

He said he didnt think FNL would have them. He did confirm the Frasers.

Those dark blues with the gradient swoosh are now on my radar. They look good.

We should do a size comparison in the original post or something. I really want to try metcons in a 10.5. I have 2 pairs in an 11. And they fit but i may be able to pull a 10.5. My flyknit trainers are a 10.5 and they are tight...like a little too tight...but my nike frees are an 11 and fit perfect.

But i wear them basically every work out now because unless i am doing a ton of running they are great for most things. The great flat base they provide is fantastic and the grip on the floor is unmatched. For example on incline bench i tend to drive my feet into the ground and push forward and the grip on the bottom of the metcons keeps me in place. I have had a slip out on my nike frees before. And they provide a great stable base for standing barbell overheads on shoulder day.

Some Metcon and sneaker news from the Central Regional.

Heppner (2nd place) and Anderson (3rd place) were in metcons all weekend. Few others had them but in CW's that made me think they weren't sponsored. Some scattered throughout team, but no team was fully outfitted like invictus. Much less in womens division Akinwale (4th) had gray/gum in the one time I saw her not in Romaleos. Other than her no top ladies had them, and I'm guessing that is size availability right now.

Reebok did a surprise launch Saturday at noon of the Nano 5 while I was standing in the booth. There was an instant crowd but they actually didnt sell out. Still a couple mens sizes Sunday and multiple womens sizes.

It was still heavy reebok presence among athletes, but lots of metcons still. Lots of them in the crowd too. I think the real loser in all of this will be Inov-8. There were far less than last year, and they lost their big name in Dan Bailey back to Reebok.

No Bull is a new vendor with a shoe. The womens winner Brooke Wells was wearing them and the ladies of team Crossfit 417 (2nd place) were as well (men wore nike even though the No Bull instagram shows them all with them). Scott Panchik's brother Saxon competed in Reeboks but was walking around like a No Bull billboard Saturday afternoon. Brooke Ence that won the womens Cali Region was in them as well last week.

The Meridian Region mens champ Koski was all Metcon.  Sara Sigmundsdóttir (1st) was all Nike too.

West Region Mens Cole Sager (2nd) and Joe Scali (5th) were Nike all the way. Looked like Kevin Simons (3rd) was sporting metcons too. Cody Anderson all Nike but missed the games by 1 point.

So I got my wife the Persians Thursday when Rogue threw out small sizes. We left that day for Regionals in MN so they delivered while we were gone on Friday. I didn't tell her i got them because she has given me hell for having 3 pair so it was a "don't ask permission" she will thank me later thing. Went with another couple from our box and we talk about them all week and how great they are. She hates running and double unders in nanos so Metcons are what she needs. (Mall of America Nike had Amps and Anth on the rack by the way.) Get home last night at about 2am, and she sees the Rogue box on the counter and is instantly mad that I bought something else from Rogue and after I spent all this money on a trip to Regionals not knowing they are Metcons for her. Didn't tell her otherwise. They are still sitting in the box right now.

NOBULL (pronounced like "noble") is co-founded by Ben Bergeron owner of CrossFit New England so he had all of his team decked out in them.  I stopped by their booth at the East regional and tried on their trainers, they felt comfortable and light but no where near as stable as the Metcons.  I do like their simple design and look, but I dont know if I'd like their shoes to lift in.

New England?

Curious to see how everything plays out in the Open this year.... If athletes have to wear blacked out non RBK shoes, or if its only RBK...
