Please Lock.

remember them blackbox days were all ppv was free? I will never give mayweather my money. I have dumb friends tho, so i will watch at theyre house

I miss that Lewis/Tyson kinda hype man. I knew it was real when my pops orders Direct to get ppv, just to watch that one fight. Prolly the first and last time sunlite has hit that mans wallet.
I'm lmaoooooooooo cause it's the same story with my dad

De La Hoya-Mayweather sold more PPVs, but it felt like the Tyson-Lewis hype was way bigger. I barely knew anything about boxing at the time and from what I observed it was insane.

The Lewis-Tyson hype had way more buzz than DLH-May. All the sports shows were talking about it from the shoving match to Tyson getting that face tat to avoid the fight altogether.

You're mixing up Tyson events. He got the face tat 6 days before fighting some cat named Etienne. First Round KO.

Reading about the fight on wikipedia is pretty damn intriguing. So Hasim Rahman kind of spoiled the fight by Ko'ing Lewis the year before, then Lewis had to avenge that loss to fight Tyson.

Idk that people would've been as hyped had Rahman never KO'd Lewis. Lennox was systematically dominating everyone until Rahman 1. I remember not even batting an eyelash at that fight then ESPN had this breaking news from South Africa and they showed the clip of Rock delivering that thunderous right. I thought he broke his jaw the way Lewis was dropped. To say Lewis avenged that loss is an understatement. That was one of the most devastating 2 punch KO combos I'd ever seen. Still, given Tyson's power and what Rahman had done a year prior, people thought as long as Tyson could land one big one Lewis wouldn't beat the count.

They need to air a super bowl commercial announcing the fight

Rumor has it, that's the plan. I'll believe it when I see it though, I'm still sleep.
hype would go through the roof

What helped increase that Lewis/Tyson hype was that Showtime and HBO came together to make a joint PPV for the first time IIRC.

Koncz said as a result of that talk, he has received confirmation of an agreement between CBS/Showtime Chairman Leslie Moonves and HBO Chief Executive Richard Plepler that the fight will feature two broadcasters from each premium network.
Koncz said each network also will produce an hour-long show on its fighter, Showtime doing a Mayweather story and HBO airing a Pacquiao special.
Showtime's “All-Access” series and HBO's “24/7” will not exist for this mega-bout, which is expected to generate a record number of pay-per-view buys, perhaps in excess of 3 million

That kinda sucks, I was looking forward to a few entertaining 24/7 after the atrocious ones we've had. You know May and Roger would have made it worth it

It's two different networks, but they have to make something similar to all access-24/7. Make a joint series if they are actually going to be working together. I still don't buy the hype. I'll believe it when they announce the fight officially. Superbowl commercial announcement would be piff.

They need to air a super bowl commercial announcing the fight

this would be the best platform to do it one commercial at the spot right before halftime to announce it

the hype would be through the roof no need for a roadshow

they would take over social media and disrupt the super bow big time can you imagine the coverage?

I still remember asking my dad to order the Tyson fight cuz of the hype. But Tyson did bring that hype w his ko power.

Imagine they promote this WWE style.

During the superbowl halftime Manny comes out to say a few words, maybe even sing (he loves karaoke)

In the middle of that, Mayweather comes out with a mike, cuts him off and calls him out in front of national tv

They jaw and stare each other down while different parties separate them

That would be awesome. While they stare each other down we hear the sound of glass breaking and Stone Cold Steve Austin comes out and hits both of them with stunners and is announced as the special guest referee.
