Dan why did the possible Alvarez/Cotto fight break down and do you give Kirkland a shot if Alvarez/Kirkland gets finalized? Kirkland's destruction of Tapia was definitely entertaining.

Canelo got tired of waiting for Miguel to make a deal. He moved on because he was sick of the nonsense. Alvarez-Kirkland is a done deal. It is signed and will happen in May. James has been off for 1 1/2 years and one of his close advisers told me he is close to 200 pounds, so he has to lose a lot to make 155. That be bad for him. I think it's Canelo's fight to lose.

Of course Canelo would fight someone inactive who is gonna be right in front of him all night.

But hey what can you do

My buddy brought up the idea of them breaking the fight during the Super Bowl. I scoffed, but hell, I guess you never know.

200 lbs. :wow:

DAMN!!!

The megafight that the boxing world has been clamoring for between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. should be finalized in "the next couple days," Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told the New York Post.

The sides have been negotiating what will certainly be the richest fight in boxing history, but no deal has been struck yet. The two fighters met privately for more than an hour on Tuesday in Miami.

"Everybody is doing the right thing," Arum told the Post on Friday. "We're looking to complete the paperwork. Everything is moving in the right direction. Hopefully, the next couple of days it will get done."

One of the issues is that Time Warner/HBO, which has a contract with Pacquiao, and CBS/Showtime, which has Mayweather under contract, need to hammer out terms for a joint pay-per-view telecast, which they did once before for the 2002 fight between then-heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis and former champ Mike Tyson. They have been negotiating the terms.

"I think it helped a lot because we were all putting papers together, and there was still a question as to whether Floyd really wanted to do the fight or not," Arum told the Post of the Miami meeting. "Based on the meeting with Pacquiao in the hotel suite, Manny and [Pacquiao adviser] Michael Koncz were convinced Floyd absolutely wants to do the fight."

Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs), the 36-year-old Filipino legend, and Arum have repeatedly said they have agreed to all of the terms outlined by Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs), who turns 38 in February, during talks with CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, who has served as the go-between on behalf of Mayweather and his adviser, Al Haymon.

Mayweather has said he intends to fight May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, be it against Pacquiao or somebody else.

So kirkland needs to lose FIFTY POUNDS in basiclly less then 3 months, how the hell is that gona happen without it hurting his ability to fight

At this point I would rather Arum just stop talking all together. I get that people are excited  but he should just be quite until its all final.

Prolly a commercial already filmed to break the fight and air during the super bowl... I can see it now [emoji]128557[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

Lol for any other fighter I would say this would be an initial

but i bet kirkland loses that weight in his regular fight camp anyway

his trainer puts him through it all Anne Wolfe es no joke

but i still agree with you

No one is really giving him a shot to win anyway Canelo is not gonna stand there and trade with this dude

I don't understand why you phrased your post like that. With "of course" at the beginning like Canelo just wants the easy route. Canelo is down for whatever, he picked a fight to keep things moving.

Sidenote: I don't know about y'all's City but I live in a small market. Local radio and such are really, maybe overly excited about Pac/May. Extremely.
It's Like it's been announced already or something.

If they don't fight, I will hear 30 second radio rant clips for the entirety of 2016.

I phrased it like that bc he is acting like he is the biggest fish out there. If this fight Pac/ MAy is announced this week like all signs are pointing to why couldn't he wait another week or 2 for cotto? Who is obviously waiting to see if he can get one of those guys

The fight is 3 months away camp wont begin for atleast another month. So you knowingly choose to book a fight with Kirkland who is not in shape for such a bout?

No Im not letting him off the hook he shuda waited for Cotto, that may have been PPV worthy but not anymore.

Kirklands not even ranked on anyones Top 10 list

and his last 2 opponents had been off for a minimum of 7-8 months prior to the fight so spare me the he takes on all comers

he is young talented, but can do so much more

Yeah i feel you on that and im a canelo fan, but the guy was trying to get a opponent set in stone and focus on THAT fighter. He didnt wana play te waiting game, i highly doubt canelo is worried about cotto, although it woul be close.

I agree with you, but if your not worried about it why not wait another week. No one wants to see him fight kirkland, I was happy that fight was botched on the 1st attempt.

There has to be a better opponent eager to fight him then Kirkland.

After Manny and Pac he is the biggest draw, who isnt lining up for that

If canelo didnt agree to fight kirk, then he would STILL be waiting for cotto to say yes or no, cotto wants a second fight wit may, if that foght was going to happen i feel like it would have been anounced already. Cotto is lookin for another huge payday he doesnt wana fight a youngster. Although it would be ppv and a great payday, it aint a cotto vs mayweather 2 ppv

Said it before and I'll say it again, Canelo would give Cotto the business in MSG, MGM, and Puerto Rico. I'm glad Canelo moved on and I hope Pac/May gets made just so Cotto gets left out like Khan did.

Imagine they promote this WWE style.

During the superbowl halftime Manny comes out to say a few words, maybe even sing (he loves karaoke)

In the middle of that, Mayweather comes out with a mike, cuts him off and calls him out in front of national tv

They jaw and stare each other down while different parties separate them

That would be awesome. While they stare each other down we hear the sound of glass breaking and Stone Cold Steve Austin comes out and hits both of them with stunners and is announced as the special guest referee.
this sounds obsurdly dope af

TMZ is reporting Pac/FLoyd is a done deal...
nerd.gif

I won't even believe it when they're both in the same ring and the ref tells them to touch gloves. I need to see punches flying.

TMZ is reporting Pac/FLoyd is a done deal...:nerd:

I'm celebrating. Tmz said it so it must be true

Start with straight shots and then pop bottles..
 I can sense the frenzy in those words

If this goes down.... I feel like its to the point where, this is a milestone in my own cot damn life.
Like, I got that car I always looked at in magazines n ****. On some, im realizin my dream type ****.
:nthat: :smh: at the same damn time...

but hell, WE ON!
