Please Lock.

Finally got some time to watch the fight all the way through. Props to Santa Cruz for getting it done. Still trying to figure out what game plan Mares was going with smh.

The reach advantage was too much to overcome. Mares' only shot was to make it a phone booth fight for all 12 rounds. Great fight though.

Pretty much.

Mares tried to box in the middle rounds but the result of that was him getting tagged with the jab repeatedly. He couldn't get past Santa Cruz's length. The only way for him to win was to rough him up inside. The problem was that Leo was showing good foot work and was circling out pretty well. Abner had to resort to holding with his left arm all night to keep him there.

Santa Cruz showed me he could box, I didn't think he could.

"The telecast, which included Julio Cesar Ceja rallying from a third-round knockdown to knock out Hugo Ruiz in the fifth round to win an interim junior featherweight belt, delivered an average of 1.217 million viewers. It was ESPN's largest boxing audience since Feb. 22, 1998, when Mark Johnson retained a flyweight world title by first-round knockout of Arthur Johnson.

The telecast was up 30 percent from the previous two PBC on ESPN cards and peaked at 1.614 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research."

From ESPN.

Going to be very difficult to top

So weird. They said the Garcia/Paulie fight had the largest audience since 1998.

Though this fight looks like it had higher numbers all in all.

How did Diego Chavez get a title shot? Dude lost to Thurman, lost to Rios via DQ, SD Bradley which I thought he should have lost. Oh well, I'm watching it anyway.

Bradley is at the top of the division and he fought him to a draw. He was beating Rios until the ref decided to take over the match. Losing to a healthy Thurman isn't really a big deal. Plus no one wants it with Kell Brook. Chaves is easy to make fights with cause he's good and he takes almost no money because he gets a bunch of the revenue from Argentina airing his fight.

Speaking of Bradley, just read where he split from Joel Diaz. Dan spoke with Tim and he mentioned he was meeting with McGirt and Atlas.

Who would' have thought? From what I can tell, their chemistry was great. :smh: Bradley switches something up after every fight. First his manager, then his vegan diet, now his trainer.

A little early, but what do you guys think about Matthysse vs Postol? I'm watching clips of Postol and he looks pretty legit.

Isn't Postol tall? Like 5'11ish or something? That's the only concern for Mathysse. I think Postol might try to box his way to win as opposed to brawl his way like Matthysse. If he can score jabs, I think he'll take the W.

No way can Bradley knock Rios down, he can't even use a roofy to knock anyone out. He ain't got that skill like Bill Cosby.

But I really hope Bradley plays smart and wins even without his old trainer Diaz, he's actually one of my favorite Welterweights and in my eyes, one of the most underrated right now. He should have won his fight vs Diego, I believe he was robbed.

Floyd/Berto isn't exactly moving tickets and/or rooms.
