changes to how

i too hate paying more for something than its worth because their cheap *** employer doesn't compensate them properly to being with..

at least they do it right in europe.  shots of absinth and i don't have to tip?  sign me up

If you go to a restaurant/bar and are hanging out for a long time watching a game, etc you better tip your server well.

"Irrational justifications" Not tipping is no more irrational than tipping.

Please explain.

Tipping is an obvious & widely practiced convention in the US, so much so that most employers have included anticipated tips in there servers' pay rate.

This should be good.

Btw I've never even been a server in my life, just feel compelled to try to understand how you folks think

I always tip the Pizza man

Never tip Chinese, or any other delivery

Idk why, subliminal racism?

I just expect to have my order taken, drink and food brought out to me in a timely matter

Don't take the ketchup off the table before I come in so I have to ask you for some so you make it look like your working.

Don't come by every 5 minutes asking do I need anything or was food okay

I ordered a pizza at night pickup. Pizza came to $8, I worry a $1 tip on the receipt. Cashier look at me with a disgusted look..

You want me to gave you over 20% tip for picking up my own pizza... Pizza hut. What part of the game is this?
Why did you.give the dollar lol

If you stick up for a server or you are a server.. **** off. This is not the thread for you.

If you took away mandatory tipping, you lazy *** servers would actually care about my cold *** food and empty drink. You would do your job and do it the best of your ability so you can then be rewarded form another person's wallet. ***** if you think I came to a restaurant to hear you " have the same things in common, traveled/have family in the locations, and other made up ********" to make me sidetracked since you haven't checked on my meal and you're in the "weeds" because you can't handle your ****.

I came to eat the food, and pay for the food. Not pay your tuition, gas, and club expenses. If you're a parent and you're serving then who the **** is putting your kid to sleep? c'mon now b.

I had servers TRY...TRY to tell me that I should serve instead of working at my full-time job with mad benefits. you serious bruh?
you get benefits as a busboy though?

yeah u get to eat the leftover food

I went to a small mom and pops Mexican restaurant about a week ago and I received great service from the waiter. My check came out to $32 and change and left him a $10. On friday I went to this other 'nicer' restaurant and I had to wave a different waiter down twice for a refill on my drink because my waiter was nowhere to be seen. The bill came out to $95 and I just left a $5 on the tip.

Cliffs: I tip based on service not on mandatory percentage. You ain't cook this $50 steak why you gotta get 15% percent?

i wanna see people tip the kitchen workers when the food is bomb and the dishes are clean. i might do that next.

Personally if you connected with me on a personal level of any kind, that's a mandatory $5.

It could be anything simple

I could be wearing a ******* Bulls hat, and they could say "oh I used to play for a little league team call the Bulls back when I was a kid, that's your team?"
Auto 5 bucks

So if you're a waiter or waitress in North Carolina, look for me and get a free $5

Walked into zenburger and told the waitress that I wasn't gonna tip her. Told her boss she was a good waitress. She gave me 5 dollars off my meal.

Im bout to eat pho.. all the server is doing is bringing me water a lemonade and my pho.. should I tip at least $4.00..

Some dudes in here are shook on tipping because they didn't get 5 star service at applebees or Dennys

What's NT's obsession with tips?
Obsession is the perfect word, these threads always deliver though.

Eh on the tipping its a simple as this to me.

Servers should provide the best possible service and go above and beyond on the first visit for every customer.

Now if a customer tips decent then that above and beyond service should continue on future visits if the server remembers them. If a server feels stiffed and didn't get a tip then they should just provide the bare minimum service required of them while neglecting the non tippers tables in favor of customers they deem more desirable. If your a server, the non tipper isn't entitled to the same above and beyond service the decent tipper is.

You don't have to tip, but its pretty much known that tipping good service is an unwritten rule in this country.

Who I tip: takeout delivery guys, my barber, my car detailer, bartender at a club & and when we're at an eatery having a meal.
