So pretty much I'm new to collecting sneakers. So far I just copped only 1 pair but will look to add more into my collection soon. I was wondering if you veteran sneakerheads have any tips for me about buying sneakers, preserving them and so on. Please help me out cause I have no knowledge whatsoever when it comes to Jordans

Buy what you like, not whats hyped.

Just store sneakers in box. No zip locks, no silica, etc. Nothing prevents shoes from the inevitable. Normal storage works fine for me and I've been collecting since 03.

Premium cleaners like Air Legends Jason Markk work great. Footlocker, Finishline, Champs, etc aerosol cleaners causes more harm.

Don't just limit yourself to Jordans. There are many other lines, and brands worth a look.

Remember never go overboard. Theyre just sneakers dont put them on a pedestal, and get your priorities jacked up on the way.

Good luck fam.

I'd honestly say not to even get into it. Save your money for something that will improve your quality of life. I'm not saying walk around with dusty *** sneakers, but this hobby can quickly turn into an obsession and before you know it you're blowing all of your checks on sneakers. I'm assuming you're a younger dude so I know it's tough when you see everyone around you becoming "sneaker heads", but getting into a really expensive hobby because it's trendy isn't exactly a good reason to do so. Invest that time and money into something you organically grow a passion for and save for the future.

If you're an adult with a lot of disposable income, disregard everything I just said and go ball out at flight club.

Find out what Jays you REALLY like and only get those for as low prices you can. Unless you are a rich kid or an adult with a nice income, becoming a sneakerhead is a big waste of time and hundreds of dollars.

only advise i can give is dont get too excited like i did.

I been collecting for like a year and a half now and i have bought way too many lol

I have calmed down a bit now and finally got the black infrared 6s i wanted since i was a kid.

Also and wear your kicks.  I had one person comment cause i was wearing my kobe9 moonwalkers around.

Don't buy what you can't afford. Also beware of scammers out there. Lots of them.

How were u able to get that sn approved? Lol.

Don't overdraft on your bank account and go broke just for a pair of sneakers. My saying is if u can't buy three, don't even buy one.

Buy what u honestly like, not what everyone likes. Hype beasts do that.

Buy what you like.

Buy within your means.

Don't go broke over sneakers.

Don't get so excited for new releases that you start copping everything.

And just as a rule of advice for anything you want in life: If you want it, work your *** off to make the money so that you can get it.

Don't be that kid that only buys og colorways of jordans. But whatever interests you! Treat your j's like a pair of dress shoes. Your not going to ball up in those, your not going to sprint in them. Don't walk in the mud or in puddles. Common sense really. They're expensive so don't pay resell for any shoe because they're just shoes at the end of the day. Find your favorite jordan model number (for me I like the 7s the most) and just get a couple colorways max. So pick out your favorites and don't let anyone tell you what not to buy!

Agree with everyone above...don't get into it unless you have the income.  Shoes come out every week and they all look pretty good LOL.

Good point about resale. I bought a pair of 2000 infrareds and the shoe fell apart.

It's about 2 years since I began. Only have bought 4 pairs. There's alot I've wanted but passed cause of $$. Being a student, sneakers isn't a priority in life, it's not even a hobby it's an interest.

I have a coworker who literally has a closet and a half of boxes, spends most of his paycheck on it, yet only wears a handful of them. That's just excessive. I understand if its a collectable item (my dad is into sports memorabilia) but come on.

Buy what you would wear.

I bought my first pair of Jordans in April 1992 at 15. Bordeaux 7s.  $125 plus tax paid for with my own money. Still one of the best things I ever bought. In 23 years I have seen many sneakers and sneakerheads come and go. Therefore my advice is do not pay a dime over retail.  You'll feel silly no matter how much money you have. Jordan Brand is clearly here to stay. The hype will fade. The shoes are awesome but they're just shoes. Keep them in perspective.

Did they crumble?
