Anyone else startin to hate the new Nas?

Esco was never Nas` clothing line , It was Willie Esco`s. He was just a model .

I agree, I never really liked his newer stuff... I always looked at him differently after "destroy and rebuild"

Illmatic is still the greatest album of all time IMO. HHID was a complete mess, except for "Black Republican" and "Can't Forget About You".

Damn, you dudes ride hard for Nas. I've been a fan from the jump, but to sit up here and defend dude to the death like he hasn't dropped subpar material is ridiculous. Are you listening to the music, or are you just so enamored by the fact Nas is rapping that you forgot what a GOOD album is. Sure, there were cuts on Street's Disciple and Hip-Hop Is Dead that were I-L-L. But as a whole, those dope tracks don't outweigh the awfulness my ears had to endure. And why is everyone so gassed on "Can't Forget About You"? Corny.

This trend has been brought up before regarding dudes like Kanye and Weezy, but I think it applies to dudes like Nas, too. I'm talking about comparing his recent work to what else is out there. When looking at HHID compared to the other @#%$ that dropped around that timeframe, it looks like a great album. I think dudes get so excited to hear something "decent" that they jump the gun and start amping up some subpar material from a legend like Nas.

People change and Nas is no different. But people can also change and consistently put out good ALBUMS. Dude went from dropping classic albums to having a handful of dope cuts
We livin' this cuz it's deep in our bones...

after stillmatic Nas went left field...when Nas was on his mafioso stuff with pink suits and all that EVERYONE and they momma was feeling him..I don't care what u say

Most of you, I would guess are too young to really remember Illmatic dropping. I am sure you own it, and have likely dissected it and all, but I am old enough. I remember him appearing on Live at the BBQ and I remember the talk about this dude, I also remember Back to the Grill and the fact that he dropped the Halftime single almost a full year before the album dropped and people were chomping at the bit to get a hold of dudes music. I remember in 1994 I helped put on a show with him and Kurious Jorge (Anyone remember Walk like a Duck?) and spent a lot of time with him, smoking, and BSing. Dude was cool, a bit arrogant, and smoked out of hs mind, but cool and to this day that album is maybe my favorite ever released. It is personal, and connects to that time, fresh out of HS, hustling money up, and sleeping on couches, the album fit me (I sill have a signed pic from 94 up in my bathroom, LOL). Music is personal, you don't have to like everything fro an artist, hell nobody was more upset after Illmatic when he started dropping trash, only in recent years have I revisited some of that material and realized there was some value there. What I am saying is maybe I am biased because of how much that album has meant to me, but to me Nas always gets a pass, and I will always give the man a listen. Some releases have been more mis than hit, but few are as capable, and I appreciate his growth. I hate an artist who starts out a thug, makes a million and appears to have not changed. His outlook on life has changed, and he has grown. Some of that growth has manifested itself in songs I wish hadn't been made, and even albums I could skip, but like an aging heavyweight that keeps getting back in the ring, e might not have the footwork like he once did, butyou know he has some KO blows left in him and you MUST respect that uppercut.

No matter how hard either may fall off, but I will always be amped for new Jay or NaS...I'll just always support their stuff...
HHiD was a solid album, to me...there were a couple great songs, mostly good songs, and a couple bad ones, so take it how you want.

Who is the real Nas?
I was hypnotizde by the intellectual, poetic hoodlum that dropped jewels on Illmatic and Stillmatic. The emotional risk-taker on Gods Son was raw as too...but other than that dude is an enigma. Is he a murderous Mafiosi? A Muslim insurgent? A tarrot card reader? Who is this cat?

Nas was so poetic in his younger years. He came up under cats like Rakim and emerged in the "golden era" of hip hop with people like Biggie, 2Pac, Wu Tang, Big L, and Jay-Z.

Fast forward to 2007. Look at the game now. Look who is relevant today. It's not about the best mc anymore. Apparently it's about who sells the most records and ringtones. Souljah Boy sold alot....dude's 16 years old with one catchy track that got him national recognition.

Nas has always been about change. You have to change. Especially in hip hop. The dude can still flow and rhyme about topics galore. But to make a mark in the industry you have to continue redefining who you are and push the envelope.

Nas has done that and that's even why Nas is being discussed with 3 pages to this topic because he is still relevant.
