Fox has just announced that a Gambit movie will be released on October 7, 2016. Channing Tatum has previously been tied to the role of Gambit, and the actor confirmed his role in the film via Twitter after Fox's announcement.

First debuting in Uncanny X-Men #266, Gambit was a professional thief when he first joined the group. His mutant ability allows him to mentally create and control pure kinetic energy. A kinetically charged cards which he hurls as explosive projectiles is often his weapon of choice.

Gambit previously appeared in the 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and was previously portrayed by actor Taylor Kitsch.

Previous reports have indicated that Robocop screenwriter Josh Zetumer will be writing the script for the Gambit spinoff film. The script will reportedly be based on a treatment by legendary X-Men comic book writer Chris Claremont, who created Gambit along with artist Jim Lee.

Tatum will reportedly co-produce with his partner at Free Association Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner, and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg.

I'm riding with this although it may be garbage cause of Fox.

Gambit is my favorite character. Channing actually wanted this role for a while so I hope he does well...and remember Gambit is a ladies man, I think that part is covered. His accent can make or break the character though. Remy LeBeau for the win. And blastercombo blastercombo "Magic Gambit"

Really looking forward to this film, hopefully they can resurrect the Gambit comic book. Gambit has a deep history with many marvel characters before he joined the XMen, Mr Sinister, Ghost Rider, Hulk,Daredevil, and Sabertooth. I really wished they did Gambit as the 3rd Summers brother instead of Vulcan though.

Gambit is my favorite out of the X-men, I'll watch but don't have high expectations for this. Tatum sucks as an actor IMO

A little known fact is that if Gambit holds a kinetically charged object near his head, it blocks people from reading his mind.

But back to the story at hand. I'm kinda excited about this. I think this has a lot of potential since gambit has been known to get around the Marvel Universe and has had dealings with a lot of characters inside and out of the x-men.

Possible Mr. Sinister sighting could happen.
