Do you like living in/would you move to Phoenix AZ?

From my experience, I could not have the lifestyle I have in Phoenix if I lived in California.  I came out here for grad school and have since settled down.  The summers are horrendous.  In the 9 years that I have been here, the place has become more progressive.  The cultural scene has increased. Easy flight to the west coast cities.  72 degree winters.  If you are in college, lots of tail at ASU.  Predominately white women and hispanic women.  Native american community is large.  Tiny asian community.

Lived in Phx for 5 yrs.  Loved it for the most part.

pros

-Weather was awesome but took 2 yrs to get used to the summer 4heat.

-Vegas, Cali, Mexico all accessible by a short drive

-Food overall is good (sucks if you like seafood)

-Houses are cheap

-Has all the pro/ college sports

-cars stay clean almost all yr

-Winters there are the best.  Sunny but not hot.  Its perfect.

Cons

-To me a solid career was hard to get.  I have friends still there in the same position grinding and cant move up in their companies.  All of them have degrees too.

-If or when an economic crash were to happen AZ would feel the same wrath of 2008.  Too many homes unoccupied with alot of jobs getting cut.

-Alot of fairweather fans with the Pro sports there.

- I felt crime was a bit high in phoenix.

-electric bills are insane in the summer

I've been in AZ for almost all 29 years of my life.  Been trying to get out for the last 10...that said, I still agree with @AZwildcats .  It's an upgrade from the midwest.

...but it's nothing compared to Cali.
cali is enhh. i been here 10 months. trips to the beach and vegas are priceless, but no place like home. not sure about the midwest but, seattle is home.

I've always been interested in moving to the Pacific Northwest.

LMAO at NYC Mexican food being better.

I've been to AZ 3 times. I always fly down for Seahawks games.

Coming from Seattle it's cool for vacation spot but i could never live there. I don't really get the city feel, It feels like one giant suburb.

But with that said.....

ALL them cougars in the Scottsdale bars looking for them young bodies

Common sense is not very common (see the previous page).

Bruh there are FAR more highly acclaimed Mexican restaurants in NY than AZ, this is FACT. Do some ******* research and you'll see this.

AZ doesn't have it like that when it comes to cuisine.

You sound mad ignorant right now, talking out your buttcheeks fam.

Google Mexican restaurants in NYC, look how many 4 1/2 and 5 star Yelp spots pop up, literally about a hundred +.

I'm talking spots that have rave reviews from food critics.

Ya'll just love hating on NYC. Stay extra salty.

 it's common sense, like I'm sure the pizza in NYC is better then my local joint

Nah my dude, it's an assumption.

Ya'll don't realize the melting pot NYC is.

There's a HUGE mexican population in NY.

Mexican food in NY > AZ and it's not even remotely close. Mexican cuisine in AZ is watered down for all the snowbirds out here.

Agree with most of this.

We gotta recruit a few more Fortune 500 companies to Downtown and careers will become a bit more sustainable. Tempe is improving on this with State Farm's headquarters being under construction right now.

Fairweather fans are mostly gone now that the Cardinals are legit, it used to be pretty bad. Suns have always had the realest fans in the city. There's always gonna be a decent amount of opposing fans at any game because of the transplants.

Someone that lives in Mesa posted an article saying Tempe was one of the most dangerous cities in America  Mesa is one of the worst parts of the state, get out of there bro. Tempe is a bunch of college kids.

Phoenix isn't L.A./N.Y/Chicago/Miami and it never will be, those cities had skyscrapers before we had established neighborhoods.

Phoenix isn't for everyone, but all my friends that move to new cities always end up coming back. It's an up and coming city with tons of beautiful girls and warm weather. To anyone that's never been out here - I'd suggest coming out between October - May and making your own opinion.

Water down? Half of the places i went to in AZ didn't even speak English....

That has nothing to do with the crowd they're serving. They know they're going to be catering to an older white crowd, most of whom aren't going to be able to handle the spices authentic mexican cuisine has.

Hence they water it down.

Huh?

Hit up Carolina's, Barrio Cafe or Los Dos Molinos then come back to this thread.

The "older white crowd" lives in Sun City and Paradise Valley, not gonna find the dope Mexican food in a secluded retirement community.

Someone should dump an XL horchata on your head for some of the comments you've made. Stop googling Mexican restaurants and go eat at some.

With Seattle being home, I can see why you'd consider CA as "ehh." Seattle is very enjoyable, IMO. Ive got a few friends that re-located there over the past could years.

Been to Carolina's and Los dos Molinos, haven't been to Barrio Cafe.

Carolina's gets a lot of critical acclaim, but it didn't live up to expectations. It was good but it wasn't as great as people made it seem.

Ditto Los dos.

I'll try Barrio Cafe soon.

And the older crowd is everywhere bro. Look up all the retirement homes and spots that only rent to the 50+ crowd. Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert all cater to these folks. Only place that doesn't really have 'em like that is Tempe, for obvious reasons.

Not talking about googling spots in AZ either bruh. I was telling dude to google spots in NY because he obviously hasn't been to very many out there and just take a look at what people are saying.

 @ you thinking I haven't been eating out here. Dawg I've had just about all the major spots. Yet to come across anything that made me go "wow" like some of the spots back home.
