Do you like living in/would you move to Phoenix AZ?

Like others posters said, its madd racist, pretty boring unless you're constantly traveling (Vegas, LA, mexico, etc). Weather is good during thr winter but brutal in the summer. Overall, id say it's the ugly, racists red-headed step sister of California.

One thing about Phoenix and Arizona in general...they have as beautiful sunsets as anywhere in the country.  A lot of good-looking women, mostly white and Hispanic, some Native Americans.  Cops are thirsty especially in smaller areas because they don't have anything to do other than chase meth heads and harass people.  Where in Phoenix would you be moving to?

I'll keep it simple as this, moving to AZ from any part of the Midwest is an upgrade.
Strongly strongly strongly disagree. Now, I am a Midwest guy, love the feel, but I like the Midwest way more than I did Arizona (grew up there, lived there for about ten years)...

PROS of Arizona...
Weather from November-February
Big city feel (if that's your sorta thing)
Good shopping
In N Out
San Diego/Las Vegas/Mexico (all great vacation locations) within an easy driving distance
More pro sports teams (if that's your sorta thing)
Mexican food (Los Favoritos breakfast burritos >>>>>>)

CONS of Arizona
Weather from March-October...everyone talks about how great the weather is...well, I hope you like the sun/heat, at least 90 degrees from Easter to Halloween...not much rain, people get frustrated at having the same weather every single day.
People are very rude. Everyone seems like they are in a hurry, don't say "thank you", "excuse me", etc...just not friendly. Bothers me.
Illegal immigrant issues 24/7...feel unsafe at times
I noticed kids growing up in Arizona get into a lot more trouble (drugs, drinking, sex, teenage pregnancy) than they do in the Midwest, so, I'd keep this in mind if you are considering a family.
Traffic...(keep in mind the rude people for this one too)
A lot of the houses look exactly the same

If someone offered me to live in Phoenix vs. Omaha, Lincoln, Indy, Oklahoma City, etc...I'll pick the Midwest every day...(and I hate the cold)...

You'd live in Lincoln, NE over PHX? I mean I respect your opinion and all, but cmon man. Your point about the weather in the summer is valid though :x and you're right about the drugs too. My local Circle K might as well be a meth lab at night time

Anyway, AZ has a lot of things going for it for young people. Hot women (white and Mexican), cheap housing (Don't mind my dude HEATHEN HEATHEN ), decent night life, proximity to major tourist spots, etc.

Arizona is pretty racist.

Nice and warm tho.

This you couldn't get me to live there if you gave me a million a month!

Visited there once and everytime I went to a fancy restaurant I had people staring at us with disgust. Even had a family request to move tables away from us

And there Mexican food there sucks go figures.

been here in North Phoenix for 8yrs (coming from CA).  relocated due to job(s) and I can honestly say I love it here.  Streets and neighborhoods mad clean when compared to LA/OC area .

Scottsdale = Irvine (plush)
Phoenix = OC (the good parts)
SW Phx = Los Angeles (downtown)
Mesa/Chandler = Moreno Valley / Riverside area

Don't miss CA much except for beach, but honestly we visit CA so much throughout the year that I tend to find myself going to the beach more now than when I lived in CA.

Hit me up w/any questions!

 Lies, all lies. Did son just really compare CA to AZ?

Only good thing AZ has and is similar to CA, is Mexican girls.

Addressing your pros...

- Good shopping? Nah b the shopping here sucks.
- In N Out is good but it's not anything worth moving here for.
- Big city feel? WHAT!? Bruh I'm from NY, this **** feels like a ******* desert, BECAUSE IT IS ONE.
- The Mexican food sucks out here b, facts. I've had FAR better Mexican food in NY.
- **** the pro sports teams in AZ.
- The mild winters are nice but not worth enduring what I call "Hell training" the rest of the months.

AZ do got dem *********** and Mexican mamis.

 :pimp:

Edit: We can't say *********** anymore? Didn't even know......okay....."white wimmenz".

Pretty decent Filipino population as well. Lots of top notch filipinas out here.

I mean if it's yambs you want, yambs you'll get. The Southwest in general is going to take massive dumps on the midwest as far as women go, that's not even remotely a debate. Just purely taking into account proximity and demographics, the midwest is not going to offer the same diversity of yambage. Also folks in the midwest compared to the southwest generally live more sedentary lifestyles, therefore there's going to be more plumpers in the midwest.

You sound intelligent :x

We have a wack sheriff (Arpaio) that gives us a bad reputaion if you're dumb enough to listen to the national media. AZ residents aren't Minnesota nice but they're not generally racist at all.

AZ is basically a combination of L.A. and Palm Springs.

Once our Downtown is officially legit in about 10 years - the secret will be out on Phoenix.

I absolutely love smelling the air during the Winter. It smells so crisp. And that first good snowfall always looks nice. I'm not a big city guy at all but Phoenix for the most part only had 2-3 lanes of traffic. I thought I was going to like 5-6 lines of traffic but I didn't. That changed when I got around Scottsdale. And what exactly is the HOV lane?
HOV is High Occupancy Vehice lane...encourages people to carpool to/from work because the pollution is so bad.

To each their own, I suppose. But Lincoln, NE isn't what most people think it is. Basically a "little big city", which is my favorite. Google Lincoln Haymarket District. Cool stuff downtown.

Again, to each their own...

Shopping/big city feel....uhh, you're from NY....any other city is going to feel small/the shopping will "suck" compared to NY. Arizona Mills, Scottsdale and Chandler Fashion Centers are nice though, IMO.

Mexican food thing is an opinion as well, I love Los Favoritos in Chandler and Gilbert.

Sports teams...again, an opinion, since you're probably an NY guy...
Yup, all true. 5 hour drive / 1 hour flight to San Diego / L.A.

AZ is clean, beautiful landscape, women, nightlife, Mexican food, minimal traffic, affordable housing etc.

Doesn't really lack diversity, you just gotta know where to hang out. Not gonna be a lot of sneakerheads in Chandler.

When it's hot from June to September you use A/C and resort pools.

If you're thinking of moving to AZ - I would highly consider Phoenix, Tempe or Scottsdale. Those are the 3 best cities IMO.

I don't mind if Phoenix stays under the radar - more broad's for me.
smokin.gif

Also, the snake thing is a joke - I never see any.
I'll disagree on AZ being "clean" and having beautiful landscape, just depends what you prefer....desert type landscape (sand, rocks, palm trees, etc.) or oak trees, grass, etc... but Phoenix is not clean.

A/C and resort pools...A/C bills get RIDICULOUS in Arizona man...and pools don't feel that great when the water is 90 degrees.

I'd recommend Chandler and Gilbert over Phx and Tempe...

Snake thing is true. I saw like five in 10 years living there. Only legit snakes were on golf courses. Other ones were just tiny garner snakes mowing the yard or something.

Maricopa county is another San Bernardino county. It seems a lot of cats move out here to get away from drama or to start out fresh and new.
It is racist on the outskirts. Gilbert, peoria and especially deer valley/n phx are the worst. And most minorities out that way seem uncultured. Phx/tempe seem more diverse, younger and hip. And the greenery prices are shady here :x

I lived in Scottsdale, AZ for about 6 months.. I tried to convince myself how nice the place was.. But in the end, I moved back to CA..

The desert is no place for a man.

Some of you clowns and your geographic opinions. LOL

I'm from NY (Flatbush) and I'm in AZ now (just outside of scottsdale) because of work.

Nothing is New York. Plain and simple. You have 3 million people right off the ocean and it's been around since before the declaration of independence was signed.
Get off the high horse. NY and LA are outliers in a country that has pockets of greatness.

If you like to fish or hunt, do you care more about NY or does Washington ring your bell....?

I hate most of AZ but you know what I do like, quietness and the ability to raise my kid in an upscale environment. This isn't the Wild Wild west the news makes it out to be. There are just as many crazy people here as the Q train I take back home.
AZ has lots of flaws and while I maintain a NY residence it's always what you make of it.

I can tell you for those that knock it, at a certain price point, not only do people move but organizations as well.
AZ has a foundation on it, and most people don't realize who don't read into it, that the DOD has this state on lock.

Between the college system and the Air Force bases that pump 2 billion + annually, my properties are doing just fine and as the real estate market continues to do well across the nation, more and more snow birds come here to retire. That equals a higher price for properties.

Scottadale is where old money is. It'll always be that way and it's a great place to live.

While I plan to move back to NY in the next few years, those wondering if it's a nice place should simply book that flight and take a trip.

Bruh you live in ******* Scottsdale b.

You're over here making giving folks a blanket opinion on Phoenix/Maricopa County based on your time in SCOTTSDALE.

Are you serious?

Let me eviscerate your ******** rainbows and bunnies impression of Maricopa County/Phoenix.

http://www.kpho.com/story/25206788/...uburbs?clienttype=generic&smartdevicecgbypass

Click the above link, Tempe and Glendale are amongst the top 10 most dangerous US suburbs, up there with Camden NJ. This was as recent as 2014.

Phoenix and Maricopa county is home to both a heroin and meth epidemic.

Racism is rampant in this ******* city.

Great place if you want to fish and hunt, vacation in the winter months, but other than that living here is not the business. You want to talk outliers? Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and parts of Chandler are the outliers. If you've got long money then sure, great place to live and raise a family.

I myself am considering moving from Mesa to Chandler for that exact reason. But strongly considering Colorado or Texas.

But this perception you have of AZ seems a bit half-baked and untravelled. IDK how long you've been out here or how many different parts of the county you've lived but to base an opinion on PHX/AZ on Scottsdale is preposterous.

I'm sorry you don't live in a nicer part of the state...

I live in surprise which is middle class, and is a suburb outside of phx/scottsdale (eastern west valley) and I live in scottsdale when not working.
I don't have a skewed view. During my time in the military I've lived in 12 states and two countries and consider myself pretty well traveled.

My wife is from mesa/Chandler and I would have said a few years back that place is an absolute dump.
It's like me saying my street back home is a dump compared to the hamptons(same state different cities)

The whole point of my post was to chime in on how folks knock a state they don't know about.

I love atlanta and visit it once every few months. Lenox /peach tree area.
Would I want to live outside that ward near Smyrna where I travel for work, nope.

oh alright. you kind've came into the thread sideways calling folks clowns but seemed to have a fishbowl impression of AZ.

I'll say this about most folks who are commenting on AZ but never been here, they're generally more right than they are wrong. Straight up.

Also breh, living in 12 states for sporadic amounts of time =/= necessarily well travelled in the sense that you can't really gain a realistic feel about a place until you've settled down there for an extended period of time.

When I slight AZ, it's damn near a decades worth of me having lived here that's forming that opinion.
