V.2015 ITS BALLING SEASON AGAIN.....TAXES!!! Where you doing yours?

This time of year does nothing for me. I get paid to much, I always end up owing more.

Quick question
I plan on marrying my girl this year
Probably towards the very end
Our income will put us in the 6 figure tax bracket
How can i still keep my money
Without getting taxed
Also my girl has government student loans
So she never get her tax return
After marriage how can I ieep my money and make sure they don't take my return since we will be married

And your about to marry this girl full of debt and who can't rehab her owns loan so she can get her taxes

Wow

Yea, I'm going to see how it goes claiming 0. The difference between claiming two and zero for me was like $50 on the paycheck.

Yep claim 2 will be good but won't get much of a refund back which is good

I also think I'm a pay upfront
I usually have h&r block take the money out of my return
Think I'm a just pay out of pocket

Ease up man I love this girl
Been together 7 years

I do claim them during the year
That a-g number u fill out in ur w-4 mine is like 9

What you got like 6 kids? Lol
You can get the EIC portion on your checks as well too. It's called EIC advance or something

But if your getting refunds you can claim more exemptions

Might of fact you probably can claim exempt from taxes if your not having any tax liability and getting refunds back. It's on line 7 of the form w4. Speak to a pro

I use to claim tax exempt in college because I never had to pay taxes since my income was low.

You can file as: Married FiIling Separately. This will keep things nice and clean.

Wait. Wait . Wait

Someone help a homie

So if you have a job but don't own **** you owe taxes ?

When you get your tax check you still have to pay it back to the "man"?

How does this work ?

I just got this job I aint got no ******* money fam :smh:

You'll be good and probably see a couple hundred come in. That's how it was with me before my new job.

I kept all my receipts this time around. Boots, shirts, pants, tools, EVERYTHING. Don't think I've paid enough Union dues for that to help me either :smh:
Okay it's another thing I'm 20 and I started working for the first time ever last fall so how do I even do this?

Can I do it myself? Or do I need to go to h n r block or something ?

Do I go to jail if I forget to do it?

When you get your W2, there are usually some volunteer groups around town that will do your taxes for you if you fit the requirements. You have to make under a certain amount a year (in my city it's under $15k). I take my W2 to my local public library every March and file my taxes for free. It takes less then an hour and I get the refund pretty quick

Interesting perspective. I think debt and finances need to be a legitimate consideration when deciding whether to marry someone, though I'm not sure if you should supersede your love for someone just because they are in bad shape financially, though I definitely can appreciate that perspective.

My ex, who I wanted to marry but left me because my job has crazy travel commitments, had a lot of student loan and credit card debt, and did not have an extremely lucrative job to pay for it. At the time, I was determining whether I loved her enough to assume responsibility of her six figure loans when we married, and I was struggling with it, since it took me such a concerted effort to repay my own student loans and I had finanally achieved a debt free existence after being flooded with over six figures for so long.

Nonetheless, these are the conversations you need to have when considering marriage. Do not be blinded by the love because, as these gentlemen have reiterated, finances are a central component of a union. And plus, these **** aint loyal.

Didnt read through the topic...

How does one owe money to the IRS?

I work retail, claim 0 and get a decent amount back. If this is unchanged for x amount of years, how can they have me owe? The answer is always "they didnt take out enough taxes from you" but how if nothing has changed for me. All my checks are taxed, etc.

Not sure what imma do this year. Not yet at least.

Definitely gonna set myself up for a W this year. I'm already on a Win streak I cant lose. IDGT

Ive took it off into consideration
With her income I'm not worried
She makes bread
Her debt is not in the 6 figure range not even close
Last time I checked it was down to around 32 g's
Probably around October
She pays a little out of her check
Never interferes with her pay check
Just her tax return

The thing is you can claim those expemtions and get the money on your paycheck instead of giving the IRS a free loan

So you're telling me that I can claim exemptions in 2015 and get less taxes taken outta my check?

Even if I'm getting a refund check for my 2014 w2s?

How do I figure how many exemptions I claim? EDIT: I think it's 2 for me

So will this make a significant difference on my paychecks?

Whatever i get usually from the child tax credit, other than that, mine is never more than $800. My wife and I always made over $50k (that's combined) so we never qualified for any additional tax breaks. Only get about $1 in state and just apply that to next year. Always owe borough.

I need to find a way to limit taxes aside from children, school, retirement, etc. Going to try and itemize my bus pass for the year. Paid about $1100 in bus fare to get to work last year.
