If you choose not to have healthcare, you have to pay a penalty.
So its either pay for healthcare or we will make you pay for health care.
The pentalty triples this year to $285 per person.
I know 12 different families who this affects.

It also forced me to get higher cover at a higher rate than I was already comfortable with.
So it dont work for everyone.

Same here, I'm paying more than ever. It was suppose to lower costs. What a con job.

LOL id like to be free of all my debt as well. I had a 3.95 GPA in med school but the govt is happy charging me 6.8-8.5% on my loans that accumulate thousands a month in interest. Hell i dont care about paying back the loans but give me a damn break on the interest before start raising my taxes to pay for community college for everyone.

How about the government focus on reducing military spending. The amount of money spent on the military is criminal :smh:

Please spare me the talk about terrorists attacking us. I know someone is going to bring that up

Here is the fine schedule:

The fee for not having health coverage is calculated one of 2 ways. If you or your dependents don’t have insurance that qualifies as minimum essential coverage you'll pay either a percentage of your household income or a flat fee -- whichever is higher.
The fee in 2015

If you don’t have coverage in 2015, you’ll pay the higher of these two amounts:

2% of your yearly household income. (Only the amount of income above the tax filing threshold, about $10,000 for an individual, is used to calculate the penalty.) The maximum penalty is the national average premium for a bronze plan.
$325 per person for the year ($162.50 per child under 18). The maximum penalty per family using this method is $975.

The fee for not having coverage in 2014

If you didn’t have coverage in 2014, you’ll pay the higher of these two amounts when you file your 2014 federal tax return:

1% of your yearly household income. (Only the amount of income above the tax filing threshold, about $10,000 for an individual, is used to calculate the penalty.) The maximum penalty is the national average premium for a bronze plan.

$95 per person for the year ($47.50 per child under 18). The maximum penalty per family using this method is $285.

The fee after 2015

The penalty increases every year. In 2016 it’s 2.5% of income or $695 per person. After that it's adjusted for inflation

Stop thinking about yourself. Why wouldn't you want health care. If you want to cry about it, you can easily avoid the penalty by gettings the worse cheapest coverage for like $15 a month
