NT Alcoholics Anonymous

You ever try anything besides 12 steps? I went to a few months of out patient just to talk to some professionals. They basically told me what to look for to prevent relapse but I was already 6 months off it. I just thought the way I was drinking I wanted to at least check it out and have a fall back if I relapsed. It wasn't 12 steps just treatment. It was pretty fun actually.
never did anything outside of the 12 steps program, but something i really need to look into if i start seeing myself going back to my old habits

From one to another you will... I quit a few times then thought I could control it. I always went harder the next time. Lot's of shower beers and shots before work. bringing a 5th to work. That kinda thing.

You'll be good man. Just keep working at it. You'll be such a beast once you finally shake it too. I know you're in the military. But what helped me was whenever I got those urges I'd smoke myself to sleep and wake up and forget about it the next day. That was really clutch the first months.

No bro but I waste too much time and $ drinking. When I get hammered I act like an idiot. When I'm sober I'm a laid back reserved dude but when I drink I turn into a psychopath. I don't like myself when I drink and I'm better of being sober but I love to drink . **** is cray.
I can relate 100%, and believe many others can as well.

I'll find myself good at work, not even thinking about drinking, but once 5 hits, especially during the winter I'm like damn...might as well pick up a 6'er and have a few before seeing whats good tonight

Except that 6 pack stop turns into a 6 pack, then a trip back to grab a half pint, then ending up getting sloshed by 9pm way too damn often

Get your **** right because you don't wanna be an alcoholic to the point you suffer from withdrawal symptoms. I've seen **** who got it that bad and that **** is sad as ****. Dudes be acting straight up ******ed while going through withdrawals

Good luck OP, I've never tried quitting but I'm sure it's a rough road..I'm drunk usually 4 days a week and luckily haven't had any negative consequences yet....

While I eventually starting back on coffee, I haven't touched alcohol in over a month.

I didn't even drink at this conference back in June.

Worked with this one guy that was a heavy drinker. I am talking daily after work. He would at times come into work drunk and smelling of liquor. At first it did not effect his work as he got the job done but eventually it did.

Recently, bumped into another former coworker and told me that the guy had a mental breakdown and came to the office wasted and was let go. I want to reach out to him and tell him to get help if he isnt already.
