‘X-Men’ Drama Nears Pilot Order At Fox

Fox has yet to order its first pilot this January. Among the scripts that are heating up is the action-adventure X-Men series written by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. Early versions of the script had been received enthusiastically at Fox as well as producing studios 20th Century Fox TV and Marvel TV. Fox chairman Gary Newman noted to Deadline that he expects the final draft to come in shortly and a pilot pickup within the next week or two. Exploratory casting already is underway, with the process expected to ramp up once the official greenlight comes.

The untitled series, which had a put pilot commitment, focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. The show appears particularly timely, dealing with the plight of minorities in society.

The X-Men series is one of two marquee superhero dramas with big commitments at Fox this season, along with DC/Warner Bros TV’s Black Lightning. A pending pickup for X-Men has no bearing on Black Lightning. The two series easily could coexist together, Fox entertainment president David Madden said.

Fox network is up and down with their scripted shows. Some are great to good, others are average and by the numbers, then the truly trash slop.

Kinda crazy they can have a night with Black Lightning and a X-Men show on back to back.

Don't they want to do the phoenix storyline again? fox sucks.
They need to branch out and start doing other storylines, like Inferno. Hoping New Mutants might lead to that eventually.

Just give up the damn rights already. Ugh

Fox's New X-MEN TV Series Will Be Set In The Movie Universe And Will Feature Some "Familiar" Characters

Yesterday's news that Fox's upcoming X-Men series would be moving forward as a "family drama" about a human couple and their mutant children going on the run had everyone wondering if it would be set in the same universe as the movies, and speculating as to which characters would be involved. Well, showrunner Matt Nix was very forthcoming with those answers while speaking to reporters during the Television Critics Association Winter press tour (via THR).

Nix confirmed that while FX's Legion exists outside of movie continuity (though that actually contradicts what we've previously heard), his show will indeed be set in the same "general universe."
Quote:
"A fan of the movies but also the comics would not be disoriented at all as to where this fits in the mythology," he said. "If you look at the movies, which take place from — they started in 2003 to now — they don't all line up perfectly. I'm not slavishly fitting them into a particular slot. But at the same time, if you like the world of the movies, there are definite nods to the movies. It exists in the same general universe."

Nix also reveals that he will be utilizing some new characters, but that we will also see a few familiar faces:
Quote:
"I get to invent some. It's designed to sidestep questions like, 'Where is Wolverine?' You have to answer those questions. I didn't want to do anything where it's like, 'Wolverine is just off-screen.' It exists in a world where those questions are answered without needing to name a lot of names or spend a lot of time dwelling on that issue. Within that, there are a certain amount of [familiar] characters that I can use and am using and then other characters I'm inventing — but everything is invented with a nod toward the existing mythology.

Momentum for Deadpool getting a best picture nomination is building.

I'm being dead serious lol
What? It was a good movie but not that good. The oscars must want 15-20 movies in the best film category this year.

^^ ratings

And the PGAs are historically the best indicator for the Oscar pool and they've nominated

is FOX close to losing the rights or something if they wait too long to make movies with these properties??
why haven't they started striking a deal with marvel, it's simply absurd that even after CW and even more absurd after the first Homecoming teaser that they aren't beggin Marvel for a deal. I seriously haven't seen an X-men movie in theaters since X3. Literally the inclusion of these characters in the MCU equals $$$.
I was telling my bro in law the other day, MCU has me brainwashed without me even knowing it, if it's Marvel and not in the universe I'm not taking it seriously.

The feedback for Logan has to be overwhelmingly positive for me to even consider dropping money in theaters.

They Need To just introduce F4 In An X movie & Build Them Up That Way... "Super Nova" Best Include The Silver Surfer 😎 Word To B****veli

Supernova is most likely just a working title meant to throw people off the trail. It's almost definitely code for Phoenix

Why are these guys thinking ppl want a X-Men based tv show in the movie continuity?

Do it the DC way. Nothing about being in the movie world is attractive. They're not getting cameos from Jackman or Stewart let alone Fassbender. What X movie is there even worth being set during?

They'd get more out of setting things in Deadpool continuity.

Wait 3 more years or so. If they make no F4 plans it's back at Marvel.

X-Men are a lost cause. Like I don't even see the point of Marvel bothering to give them a Sony deal unless it was to get the F4 sooner.

There's an outside chance of Fox wants to do a deal it ends up being with Ike and not Feige. Then Ike just brings back the creative committee to run the X movieverse if they still don't have a guy like Feige by then.

Screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese confirmed that they'll appear in a recent interview with Collider.

Quote:
PAUL WERNICK: I can’t say how much they are…

RHETT REESE: I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel.

WERNICK: Yeah, they’ll make at least an appearance.

Nerdist also caught up with the writers, and they revealed that cab driver Dopinder will also be back for the upcoming sequel.

I forget where did Deadpool happen again?

What state or country? Was it Canada on the low?

I remember generic locations; highway, bar, broke down helicarrier, where he got experimented on. I know there was one part early on where he's walking around town but I can't nail it .

I assume with Dopinder returning, some of the movie is in the same place.
