Fox needs people in charge who actually like comics, or don't do drugs.

Hate to say it but it looks like even DC has a better idea of how to handle their universe.

The whole point of doing these movies is not to feed your own twisted interpretation of the comics but to give the people what they want. Smh

From now on, I'm only watching Fox properties that are not touched by Singer. Fantastic Four is singer free so I think it's ok to watch that. Lol

I'm not watching that Apocalypse debacle. Why couldn't they just stick with Vaughn..

What I've heard before is that studios only start turning a profit after making double its production budget

For example

Production budget is 220 mill.

If you make 460 mil. The profit is 20 mil.

The production budget doesn't include stuff like how much you pay the theaters and salaries and other expenses, etc

This is my understanding.

it's the advertising. big blockbusters generally spend 200 mil on advertising.

I'm taking the opinions here with a grain of salt because I see some of these names and remember yall saying ASM2 was about to be the goat movie

This movie won't disappoint with the effects and fight scenes

I'm intrigued by that final battle with everyone VS. Apocalypse :nerd:

About Fox studios, you're going to be waiting for a very long time before that happens...

Plus you're better off having Marvel regain the movie rights back at this point.  And as for Vaughn, maybe he wanted to do other things
IIRC Singer basically stepped on his toes and weaseled his way back into directing these films.

Vaughn should be given the keys to their entire Marvel universe

First Class was not this masterpiece ya'll are making it out to be

cmon son

Vaughn was suppose to direct DoFP and wanted to but he wanted to the Kingsman more because it was getting other copy cat treatments from other studios and he wanted to get it out there before someone beats him. So he passed on DoFP.

“It started in a pub with Mark, and we were drunk,” Vaughn told us. “We sort of were complaining about how spy movies had become really quite serious. We said, ‘Let's do a fun [one].’ … Mark went off and wrote a version, and I read it. I was like, ‘F#@k, maybe we should do this for real.’ Then he went ahead, finished the comic off. Then I was working on Days of Future Past, and I'd finished the treatment. Then the [Kingsman] script fell out of me -- just one of those things. I remember Fox going, ‘What are you talking about?’ because the two scripts came in at the same time. I was like, ‘Aw, *****.’ It was a really tough decision whether to do Days of Future Past or do this. But then I was like, ‘F#@k, somebody else is going to wake up and do a fun spy movie. Then I will have written a bloody screenplay that no one will want to make.’ So I probably made the craziest decision of my life to turn down an $800 million gorilla to do Kingsman. But Kingsman's more me anyway.”

"I was worried with Kingsman that the fun spy movie seemed such an obvious thing in some way, and no one else was doing it. Now, we’ve got that spy movie with Melissa McCarthy as well as Man from UNCLE, but I didn’t know that at the time. I didn’t want to do Kingsman after the wave had already come because everything that was going to make it look fresh and original would look boring and predictable."

Good for Vaughn. He knows what he wants to do. I really liked Kingsman. Too bad we have to suffer for it lol

I swear Singer sounds high every time I see a quote from him

But those who hate DoFP here are the minority, those who complains about just happen to have a louder voice. It is still a widely loved film overall, too bad you feel like you suffered from it but there are a lot more were happy with it, hell a lot more people also liked it more than First Class too.

Also, the Juggernaut idea was Vaughns and Quicksilvers was Singers so the complaints about Singer just wanting to change it wasn't exactly accurate because it wasn't his idea to begin with. Yeah there were probably some incentive there to beat Marvel for sure but it wasn't 100% just to spite them but again it is just unnecessary hate on Singer to pile on despite the scene being good and the highlight of the film.

From Vaughn:

“The best scene in the movie, Quicksilver breaking Magneto out of prison, was Singer’s idea. I wouldn’t have done that. So, I would have made the movie worse. I had Juggernaut being thrown out of a plane from 20,000 feet, and using his head to go down a hole and get to the bottom of it. I used a younger Juggernaut and had Beast telling him, ‘Alright, we’ve got a plan.’ When he asked, ‘What’s the plan?’ Beast was just going to grab him and throw him out the window of an airplane. Juggernaut then used his head to smash through Magneto’s prison, and Magneto would look at him and just say, ‘Who the **** are you?’ The Quicksilver scene was better.”

So much truth

Only on NT do I see people ******** on DoFP so vehemently

And I'm glad they didn't go with that dumb Juggernaut idea

Don't think anyone here hates the film. Just isn't nearly as good as it's claimed to be. It's simply a standout amongst all the trash they already gave us.

I don't hate DoFP. The movie - observed in a vacuum - is pretty good. But in the context of their universe, I don't like the direction DoFP has taken : holding onto certain actors, not doing a much cleaner, harder reboot - especially when I hear some talk that they might reboot relatively soon anyway? If they do, then that's a waste of time. Would've been better to start off with a super clean slate with First Class and spend years building their universe with that movie as its foundation then sloppily mix and match components of a universe together - pitting young and old actors together - only to wipe out all that work cuz you didn't have the foresight to have rebooted on time.

It's like being a sports fan of a poorly rebuilding team. Keeping veterans past their prime and matching them poorly with draft picks and when that doesn't work - they're going to end up blowing their whole team up anyway and starting over again. That'd be a waste of time compared to if they had gotten rid of their veterans on time and they coudl've properly built their team from scratch in a timely manner.

What certain actors did they hold on to? I mean those are essential int he story or else people would be like "who is that suppose to be" if they recast. For gods sake many can't seem to comprehend the timeline when it is so simple after DoFP.

And it's not another reboot coming, stop listening to the damn rumors and get yourself worked up and hate on it. They arne't rebooting again, they are just going to follow First Class then DoFP and Apocalypse further pushes it further.

DoFP in my opinion did what it was supposed to do--removed all previous movies from the timeline, for better or worse. You may as well consider it a hard reboot. The only holdover from the previous series is Jackman; we're definitely not getting Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen as Xavier and Magneto anymore, all of the core X-Men have been replaced with younger, fresher actors, Magneto tried to settle down and Apocalypse is active in the 80s which clearly never happened in the original timeline.

Then there's the point of Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson character existing in the present day, despite the old movie showing him grown and active in the 60s-70s, which I chalk up to time travel timeline shifting shenanigans. Bishop even said in the Director's Cut that things might be entirely different if Wolverine went back in time. So there you have it. Things are different.

DoFP is a hard reboot disguised as a soft reboot.

I will say I hate First Class

Mutant and Proud

I only really liked McAvoy and Fassbender in First Class and even then Fassbender's constant slippage of his Irish accent almost takes me out of the movie

What certain actors did they hold on to?

Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Halle Berry, girl who plays Jean, guy who plays Scott

We haven't seen much of them cuz DoFP concentrated on the past. And won't see them in Apocalypse cuz that movie is set in the 80's.

But then after that? They will have a movie set in present time eventually, right?

They will probably just recast everyone by then sure. I'm just saying it would've been cleaner to have recasted them in a timely manner, and also throw every older movie out the window, not picking and choosing which movie is canon.

Jackman, Stewart and McKellan were essential int he film and the rest had very minimal role. I just don't see the hate on it at all.

Yeah they will eventually have one set int he present but they'll likely recast by then. I can see them keeping Stewart and McKellan but Jackman is doing his last film as Wolverine so he would be recast and i could see the rest being recast with him. I doubt they bring in the others because they're just too old now.

DoFP really opened it up so that they can recast anyone (not like they couldn't before) but I say we complain about it when it is does not happen and not anytime before based on unfounded rumors.

We should gather all our energy on hating Apocalypse first!

I mean they can still redeem themselves I guess and Apocalypse can even be better than DOFP, but they really dropped the ball with First Class.
