First Reviews For LEGION Indicate FX May Have A Massive Hit On Its Hands

The Hollywood Reporter
"It might seem weird to have a Marvel show on FX, or to have it star that upper-crust Brit from Downton Abbey, filtered through the creator of Fargo, but somehow it all works. Three episodes of Legion — in all their cracked visual glory — were enough to want the rest of the season immediately.

Collider
"Legion plays a lot with themes of identity and memory and emotion, and if the key to visual storytelling is to show and not tell, well, Legion grasps onto that wholeheartedly. But above all, it’s a deeply considered portrait of mental illness. Even if David’s schizophrenia is actually part of a mutant power, it’s also still literally angry voices in his head fighting to control him and his actions. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a problem for his daily life, and something he has struggled with since he was a young boy. The X-Men have always been a stand-in for outsiders, for people who feel persecuted or just different from the rest of the world. David’s journey is Legion is his own, but we’re connected to it, too."

Variety
“Legion,” a Marvel-inspired drama from “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley, is not timid. It offers a jittery take on many of the genre’s familiar themes, and it hurls them together with such boldness that the entire concoction ends up carrying quite a kick. Like I said, it won’t be for everyone, but those who are pulled into the surreal, jagged orbit of this distinctive drama are likely to stay there for the full eight-episode run. It is, literally and figuratively, a trip — and it’s often an exhilarating one."

UPROXXX
"It’s a delight, existing so far outside the mold of recent superhero adaptations in the 2010s that it couldn’t see the mold even with telescopic vision. It’s a comic book show likely to be as appealing to people who have no interest in comic books as to those who can name David’s famous relative without Googling, if not more, and it’s easily the most exciting new series this young year in TV has offered so far."

TV Line
"Comic-book fans might be eager for Legion to hurry up and get to “the good stuff,” connecting David to the X-Men universe they know and love. But I’m not in any hurry. Speaking as someone with next-to-zero knowledge of comic books, this is the first superhero show I’ll be adding to my DVR’s season-pass list. Legion has created a compelling world that firmly stands on its own… and I look forward to Hawley and the cast dazzling me even more in the weeks to come."

Nerdist
"Legion plays fast and loose with narrative convention, and it can be tough to keep up if you’re not giving it your full attention. Luckily that won’t be difficult, because the show’s cinematography is completely and utterly engrossing. Imagine if Charlie Kaufman, Wes Anderson, and the Coen Brothers all swapped brains and started collaborating on a show that’s maybe set in the ’70s (except not really), and you have a rough idea of what to expect. Or, if you’ve seen showrunner Noah Hawley’s work on Fargo, it’s like that, but with an added dose of cerebral, horror-fueled psychedelia. Also some vaguely Bollywood-style dancing. No, seriously."

RUMOR ALERT

Former 007 Pierce Brosnan Reportedly In Early Negotiations To Play Cable In The DEADPOOL Sequel

Earlier today, during the latest episode of Popcorn Talk's weekly vodcast Meet The Movie Press, Forbes reporter Simon Thompson shared a few details from his very informative recent encounter with director David Leitch (who is helming Deadpool 2) at the world premiere of John Wick: Chapter 2. Thompson utilized an age-old tactic in trying to get Leitch to slip up and reveal any little nugget about the eagerly awaited sequel: "So I said, 'Congratulations on casting Pierce Brosnan, and he went, 'We have not yet.'" - emphasis on the yet.

He then handed off the discussion to his co-hosts, Justin Kroll of Variety and Jeff Sneider of The Tracking Board, and while the former was not allowed to confirm or deny anything on-air, the ever-reliable Sneider dropped a pretty major revelation when he let them know what he's heard: "Justin can't say anything, but, yeah, I've heard it's going to him."

All three more or less agreed it was still too early to call the Cable race for Brosnan, so it's probably best to take this news with a grain of salt as the situation can change at the drop of a hat.

I guess that cool but man I didn't think they would go that old with cable

Hell why not go for Daniel Craig? Kyle Chandlier is a better fit than Pierce

I wouldn't be surprised if Craig says no to a huge franchise film that could tie him up for years again.

Just get Statham.

Yeah he said he don't like the superhero **** and some actor who does them roasted him about his acting "ability"

Watching the legion commercials and I was like the guy playing him looks like the guy from Downton Abbey and the one playing the beast in Beauty & The Beast. He was on tv just now being interviewed and it is him. Good stuff to be in.

A New X-Men TV Cartoon Series Announced Later This Year?

I have been informed, from sources close to the previously-mentioned Marvel creative summit from last week that, as well as return to the fore for X-Men comics with X-Men ResurrXion, we should expect a lot more from the mutants in 2017.

Specific details are scant. Marvel dialled down their X-Men exposure after a massive fallout between Marvel and Fox Studios, who own the Fantastic Four and X-Men movies rights. The Fantastic Four titles were cancelled and the X-Men titles, while still published, saw them removed from almost all licensing – games, toys, statues, posters, clothing, cartoons and the like. They weren’t used by any Marvel-generated promotional operations and were notably absent from Marvel’s promotions of their own comic book line.

Since then, Marvel’s own civil war between Marvel Studios and the rest of the company, that saw the Studios split from Marvel and report directly to Disney, has seen a bit of a ceasefire. Peace hasn’t exactly broken out, but co-operation over the new Fox X-Men TV shows like the upcoming Legion, and even cooperation over the movie Deadpool, has seen a return from the comics division to the X-Men titles.

And yes, that also means licenses, games, toys, statues, posters, T-shirts, and being acknowledged by the publisher on the front of catalogues, promotional outreaches…

…and a cartoon.

The X-Men animated series has been much missed and, although the characters have appeared in other Marvel cartoons of late, they haven’t held their own series, even as the movies have performed well in cinemas.

I understand that, later in 2017, we will get the announcement of a cartoon as well.

And, yes, as part of Marvel’s meat-and-potatoes in the comics, you’ll be getting Wolverine back too.

Rumored X men Supernova synopsis :smh:

“Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!”

^ what the shaking head, it's just the dark Phoenix saga.

Besides they aren't making it, that was what was planned.

We don't know theyre not making it. That's the rumored titled.

And the obvious reason for shaking my head is for many reasons. Skipped galaxy adventures,. Phoenix Saga way too soon. Horrible actress to play her, amongst other things.

These piss poor Fox-Men movies about to give these classic X-Men comics the reputation of being trash stories if they keep this up.

Someone make a gif of professor x shaking lol.

New fapping gif lol.
