Google Fiber is coming to Nashivlle

Heard PHX is a potential spot for Google Fiber. I don't think we would get it in Tucson, but at least get it in the state of AZ. My friend in KC has it and he loves it :frown:

People have to understand that they're looking for areas that

1. arent super congested
2. have the geography to support their test runs

I was like.. why the **** isnt it in dallas... then i was reminded that the ATT headquarters is here... and the CEO prolly has more say so than the damb mayor just based on the revenue + jobs it brings to the city.

Nashville is very very very congested.. theybdont know what to do with the flock of people moving here. They also are building condos house and apartments on top of each other to keep up with the demand.

Traffic is horrible.

But I think the growth and popularity will wear off soon kind of like what happen to Vegas and then there will be a lot of empty houses and condos

Yep, it's in the plans.

I wonder if it'll be only Phoenix or the surrounding valley....

Still tryna figure out why the Bay Area doesn't have google fiber
When Google is based here :smh:

You have to understand how it works. Google can't just open up shop like a mom and pop business overnight. They have to get approval from the local government and in many cases pay the local governments hundreds of thousands of $ per month in order to be allowed to provide service in that area. Then when Comcast, who already has San Francisco on lock, is already there it makes it harder for another competitor to like Google to come in. Same goes for New York, which Time Warner has a foothold in.

I'm curious how they got into Atlanta, I know Comcast is set up there.

this is true, these internet/cable companies are running monopolies & the fed gov/state gov are in cahoots.

Which is weird to me, because I work (quitting soon) for 3 letter ISP/cable company whose headquarters is in Atlanta, but they can't even have their service there

What kind of upload/download speeds is Google Fiber promising? I know previously mentioned employer is rolling about Gigabit residential speeds in more locations.

Always heard good things about Nashville

Nashville is where Im at now

Give me the names of some good pizza spots man. None of that chain BS....just some authentic, mom-n-pop, east coast style pizza. I know Nashville has gotta have a few spots.

Went to Amerigo a few weeks ago up there by Vandy...I wasn't expecting much from their pizza but it was good (not great). I need that authentic pie ASAP.

Just chilling man. Getting out of town for a day or two is always welcomed. It only takes 2 hours tops (with traffic) to get there, so the wife and I go up there when we can. All we really do is shop and eat because the 3-yr old always comes lol. But we just enjoy the vibe there...thinking about moving up there since the wife can easily get a job at the Vandy Med Center.

heard bout this on the news...hopefully it wont crash hard when it goes up like other big name products *cough* xbox *cough*

@superb what part of the ville you from?

gawddammit san antonio bout to get the plug, meanwhile houston is getting that *** rammed by Comcast...  smh.

Man, if you're coming to Nashville, pizza isn't really anything special here. If you want something specific to Nashville get some hot chicken. The most accessible place and arguably the best place is Hattie B's. It's near Vandy.

Didn't realize Joey's had moved, went by their old spot and thought it closed.

On Topic: Looks like it's a 2 year time table to get it up and running. I wonder if I'll even be in Nashville to experience it.

That's because Houston is all screwed up. Utilities are everywhere it's overhead and in the ground in older areas and mostly in the ground in newer areas. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Google isn't a utility company so the have figure how to assimilate into Houston's complex utility system
