THE AMERICANS Thread | Final Season: March 28, 2018

that praying scene with phil was weird as hell

anyone else think henry might end up being the spy instead of paige?

that's what I feel will happen. they're concentrating so much on Paige and Henry has always been an after thought.. but who knows, they always put an emphasis on the daughters.. in any family show you'll ever see

Henry's a burger anyways.

Henry to obsessed with Mrs. Beeman's yambs to try and focus on becoming a spy.

Martha shook. Always knew she was the weak link of things for this op. Just tell him what happened at work. Nah she gotta be all suspicious.

Props to the black guy finding the bug though. Feels like that dudes office been bugged for a year

The disguises this ep though  Phil with blond hair and then the long punk like black hair  That was his worst look. Didn't seem believable like the others.

The ending :pimp: I like how the action is now a treat in some ways and it took a backseat to some of the more serious things going on and building up for the story.

this dude phil named like half the toppings available for order and it was only a plain pizza

Emmerich did a solid job directing this week's episode. You know if this was the real world especially back then, his character Stan woulda had all kinds of words for Dennis (when Stan was taking to Phil). :rolleyes

Martha is starting to figure out what's up. She doesn't have it all yet but she'll figure it out. She's at the point where she see's the threads that are begging to be pulled & once she does, it will all unravel.

I don't trust Gabriel at all. I know he has a lot of history with Liz & Phil, but he's an old school Ruskie. He don't care about nothing but Mother Russia & the mission. Damn the casualties. I think Phil is kinda figuring that out.

I'm not trusting Liz either. Phil asks what am i going to come home one day to find out you told her everything & Liz was like yeah maybe... :smh: I think Phil needs to murk Liz now to save all the drama later if he really wants a better life for his kids.

I looooved the use of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain for the last portion of the ep. I thought that confrontation was going to go all wrong. It looked like Phil got stabbed or something but I guess he's alright.

This season isn't as good as last season but I'm still really enjoying it.

It's always something else when Phil and Liz team up with a black ally

This South African cat had an intensity about him. Setting that dude on fire like that, damb. I'm a bit put off in the end they let that college kid go. Son made a bomb. Don't care if he may have been scared straight.

Paige finding articles on Derek Luke's character :smh: Wonder if she'll be dumb enough to track him down.

Seems Nina has bounced back okay.

Martha still feeling nervous. The black guy getting grilled :smh: The chief bugging out

Wow @ Phil getting away with that Clark bull **** momentarily. She's clearly still suspicious. It'd be ****** up if Martha was the beginning of the end for them or at least Phil. I bet she's gonna have to die at some point.

^
I thought derek luke's character was dead?

Why did venter and the college kid even agree to meet with the black South African at the diner? I forgot what reasoning they gave.

Paige is such a weird kid.

Finally caught up & watched this week's episode. Taffet is a creepy dude & I think he might be racist. I was  when he asked Aderhold, "Do people resent you here? For being … new?" You know Taffet was thinking black. The whole time he was looking at Aderhold like look how this black MFer made it this far. :smh:

Was I the only one silently cheering when Rueben burned up Venter? Dude just burnt up & screams just faded out... :smokin I know the theme in this ep was second chances, but Liz & Phil are weak for not letting Rueben have at the college kid. Fun thing is Liz & Phil have merc'd for less. :smh:

Poor Martha... Phil did the old switcharoo on her when she started asking who are you... Deep down she knows whats up & doesn't want the truth. She just wants someone to "love" her. Old Phil said "Isn't it enough for you?!?!" Old Jedi mind trick. The force is strong with Phil.

I still don't trust Gabriel... Dude reeks of a Sith lord on the level of Palpatine. I know he has a whole 'nother side & agenda. I think at some point he's just going to pull an okey doke for the motherland & take Paige for the cause. :smh:

^Yeah dude is a racist. The whole discussion was steeped in him trying not to be offensive while being offensive and kinda digging to see if he was an undercover commie.

I admired the burning of dude alive. Specifically the crimes against South Africa part. It was very accurate cuz that's what they'd do to white ppl or traitors when things got really bad after a few massacres.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the finale Gabriel just snatched up Paige and Henry with some goons.

Damn. I forgot.

Now I remember :smh: Death by da po po

He was tricking the kid. He too was using some fake identity.
Paige is such a weird kid.
Very and it annoys me so much.

Oh man, these are the eps I love.

When they're caught in a situation like this and moral implications rise up quickly really brings the character's development and true character to the forefront. Liz didn't want to kill that old lady at all and everything she said just made it harder.

At first when she said her real name I thought nothing of it but then when she said her mom's was from Russia I was like damn they gonna kill her and then the lady soon realized herself that was going to happen as well. She even asked :smh:

The way this old lady went on and on about her fam I thought Liz was about to ask her marriage advice  Knew more about this lady than most characters in just a few scenes. Real sad.

I wonder how things will go with Martha though. Phil seems to be handling it, she's still giving up info. I guess she doesn't want to admit she was duped, is being a traitor, and on top of that ruin her marriage. When she turned down the adoption thing so soon it really showed she just wants to hold on to what she has left.

Great ep all around.

Finally Henry gets some focus in this ep but they sidetrack it by revealing the truth to Paige which will be proven to be a HUGE mistake by next season if she doesn't get them all killed or caught by the finale. Damn religion ******* everything up.

This Henry kid is pure gold  Son doing Eddie Murphy impressions

Gotta say it is pretty sad Stan is using Henry as a substitute for his son. Divorce can be a *****.

Keri Russell is so beautiful. I mean damn. These disguises just make her look better sometimes.

this pastor is so damn nosy

wouldnt be surprised if he was working for the cause too and was placed there to help convert paige

^
That would be a good move by the centre or whatever they call headquarters. Phil would go ballistic though. I wonder if Phil's ex told their son who his dad is or was before.

Dude is going to give up the defector / one of his own just to help Nina. SMH. Soon that scientist will be the next one to get up in her yambs.

This would make some sense if you consider last season. The son was secretly being trained by the red head that was Phil's and Liz's new handler. The parents didn't want him to do it and after a dispute the son killed them all.

So what if this pastor has been secretly been training Paige this whole time and cuz the centre learned from the last kid this time they have the pastor tell Paige to finally confront her parents cuz they know Phil is against this, basically pushing his hand.

Genius manipulating stroke by the Soviets if this is the case.

This was a good ep a bit more set up than usual.

This definitely wasn't a day in the life ep though

Loved the sex scene with Keri.

Actually can't wait to see where things go with Paige and her knowing the truth. Hopefully it leads to her death.

Next week with Martha getting grilled again should be real good.

Hotel manager was lucky. Looked like he was trying to inhale Elizabeth when they were making out and probably when he went down on her too.

Elizabeth opening up to paige and telling her about her mother and paige with a scumbag response. She wanted to know the truth and now she's being a pain in the butt about it.

That was a nice actually very smart plan. You go to the most ruthless of tribal leaders, convince him the rest are there to sabotage the meetings and assure him as a fake CIA agent that they'll still meet with only you to give you military aid. Basically turning dude in to their assassin without him having any clue until it's too late. I wonder if something similar to this really happened during the Cold War. It's pretty genius.

The heats really on Martha. She's a bit paranoid but Stan showing interest clearly means something is up. Her going on a vacation doesn't really help. The move Phil pulled was wild though. Stan should've knocked right when he pulled that wig off  Pretty powerful though. I just wonder what lie is going to accompany this reveal. You got a master of disguise outing himself just to keep Martha around or make him trust him more. I can't see him saying he's a Russian spy. At this point I'm questioning if Phil does care for Martha a bit. I thought the fall back plan if Martha panicked was to just kill her.

It was interesting for like an ep or two but Paige even makes knowing her parents secret annoying. We get it you were lied to and don't know who your family is. Get over it. That don't give you no right to play sleep over at some creepy pastor's house.

Nice to see Phil's and Liz's old handler pop back up. I really liked them discussing events of last season and how the centre reacted. Maybe cuz they're on the outside looking in and believing too much of the good things Liz probably told them about Paige. I just don't see her being a useful asset unless it's to eventually become a sacrificial pawn.

Paige :smh:  At least that hopefully means she and Pastor Tim are dead by the end of S4

Almost thought Phil was gonna smash Stan's wife

 @ the FBI chief being mad at Stan and him just bringing him the goods just cuz he still jonesing for Nina. Now he got blank check to get around the red tape and go after anybody in the union.

Strong finale but overall I wish more happened this season. It almost seemed like the entire season was partly set up for S4. It was good but not as good as last season.

Welp.

Knew that was coming but still.

Paige....

Co-sign about thinking Phil and Susan were gonna smash.

Imagine Henry walking in on them? He would've faded Phil on sight.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, interesting to see what goes down next season.
