OFFICIAL 57th Grammy Awards Thread Feb 8

If this is true maybe she should showcase it more. Last time I saw her she was popping her cheeks in the 7/11 video. "Shoulder sideways smack it in the air" wow she's such a great talent :rolleyes

Wait...you criticizing folks for dismissing Beck yet you judge Beyonce off a track and video from a re-release album? That's exactly my point. Strip away the pop/radio hits, the made for TV/album selling videos and you still have a woman with a great, great voice. You can't say that for 99% of these "so called" singers out here

The talent is undeniable, if you don't like the package...fine

IMHO it's a black/white thing. If Beck had been a black Rock artist I don't think Kanye would've pulled that stunt or said those things about him

At this point it's just embarrassing how much Kanye capes Beyonce. We get it dawg, you're still jealous of Jay at every turn. Shut up and move on. I love his albums, but damn it when he opens his mouth he can't stop from looking ignorant.
I don't think he's capping up for Bey. I think he's trying to tell people that she is a once in a generation type talent but we are dismissing her like she's some type of avg pop artist that comes around every year.

Was it that big of a travesty that she didn't win?

I don't listen to either Beyonce or Beck, so I really don't know.

Not sure what Kanye's angle is...if the more deserving (which is subjective) artist won, then why the sour grapes?

I'm personally not a fan of Beyonce, or her music. She just rubs me the wrong way. No doubt she has great talent as a singer, but I just think her music is lame. I think her status as a singer is elevated because of her looks and who her husband is.

As for Kanye, we all know where he is coming from. To an extent he's got a point, he just picked on the wrong artist. To do it to Taylor Swift is one thing, but to do it to Beck is another. What bothered me about this particular situation was his passive-aggressiveness. If you want to educate people who are ignorant, you have to be detailed in who you are talking about. Don't use "WE" to describe a group of people. On top of the fact his wife is the epitome of criticism of what he is talking about.

It would have been nice if kanye gave some reviews of becks album and discussed why he thinks beyonce's album was better. But something tells me he didn't give becks album one single rotation. Then just jumps off the cuff saying some dumb ****

What Beyonce did with her album probably makes it better to kanye. The tour, the videos, the hits, just the total experience. Dropping it with out any promotion. Like she did more for music with her album. But as a single body of work you are comparing music to music. I can see why some people think Beck's album is better.

Exactly why Kanye should never speak in public. Let your music and product do the talking, because every time he does this he just looks ignorant.

I mean, his quote:

"The Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé, and at this point, we tired of it"

Seems INSANE to me.

From what I know of Beck, dude is WELL respected and a very talented musician in his own right.....

Judging music is like judging food. What's good to some sucks for others. More people on the committee liked Beck's album better; end of story

Kanye is Kanye; we all know he's gonna do stuff like this but at the end of the day it really accomplishes nothing. Outside of making music and sneakers who really cares about his opinion enough for it to mean anything substantive to anybody?

Dude is entertainment...that's it.

I think form a cultural stand point. "Drunk in Love" was a smash anywhere you headed out
to party at. Beck wasn't moving the peoplelike that were I was partying at. I use to mess with
Beck's single back in the 90's but lost interest in how music similar to Coldplay. It's
the constant snubs like this and the Kendrick situation. I don't even know why rappers show
up to the Grammy's. I'd be on some public ememy ish and never show up.

If they knew anything about rap music Drake's 0-100 should have easily won. But there
not in the clubs, parties ...etc and feeling the music like that at all. Show is trash, haven't
watched it since the early 2000's.

Shout out the butchers Hill in Baltimore tho I live there..:smokin

Just waiting for the day when a MC goes at Kanye's neck. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened yet.

I stay lurkin around walking my fat maltese with my NT fitted on

But i think its hard to compare like "moves people" vs better collection of music. Becks album is incredibly well produced. And music is all subjective so its hard to tell some one thier opinion on music is wrong. People like different things. But cultural impact beyonce smashes Beck

why would they?  shouldn't mc's champion someone that tries to buck the "establishment"

though he does it to poor effect sometimes

Sometimes personally I think his antics are appreciated and welcomed and sometimes he seems drunk and mis or uninformed

this seemed like one of those uninformed tirades and he looked sort of foolish

Dipset dissed him awhile back. It was over some drama that happened at Summer Jam

I vaguely remember this...

but nobody's gonna come at Kanye. Outside of Drake, Jay Z, Eminem, or maybe Kendrick; who could come at Kanye hard enough to even make him pay attention?

You're "bucking the establishment," but married a Kardashian....

Whoa he said that? KanYe really has no chill button man, thats uncalled for.

This is just like the time he threw a tantrum when Justice beat him out for a video award.

A year later he used the same directors to do the Good Life video.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Beck producing a song for him once Kanye realizes who he is.

hey, I said to ill effect at times but his personal life aside

I can't see why an mc would have cause to diss him for the things he's most vocal about when it seems as though they'd fall on his side
