Marshawn Lynch Progressive Commercial vol: lulz ensue

You guys do realize that this is probably a marketing ploy?  By the looks of things, it's actually a good one.  The irony is that it's so good, that a guy who was charged with a hit and run, is now advertising car insurance.

Yeah he's smart. He's flipped this into t-shirts, a press conference with Skittles, the Progressive ad...and the media keeps feeding into it. If anything his stance is giving them a completely different topic to write about :nerd:

Guys who buck the trends in sports usually add to it....he's a character and he does it without even speaking. He has my support.

the thing is, he does have a personality and all that marketability. when he goes bacc to the town and work with the kids and youth in the inner city. i do wish ppl could see that side of him.

I cant believe its people that are really upset about Marshawn not wanting to talk to media.

Like, they're really being shorted in some way by not hearing who he feels about playing in a football game.

Seriously?

Some people just dont like change. :smh:

business side of things...it gives espn/foxsports/etc something to talk about. media whether we like it or not, really do help promote the sports.
which leads to big tv deals for the leagues, salaries, etc.

it's just part of the biz. if athletes/coaches had the choice a majority wouldnt even want to do interviews or talk to reporters. there would be nothing to really read about other than box scores. 24hrs sports programming has to be filled with something

I can understand that. Hell, it seems like most of the media can understand, but its average Joe Shmoes on the interwebz pissed.

Why??

That's what I mean there are fans pissed of at marshawn. Legit angry at this guy

i am totally fine with how he is answering.
but totally understand why reporters are mad.
fans? i dont care.

but when espn and nbc are shelling out around 20+BILLIONS in tv deals, THEY are calling the shots
"roger, get your guys to entertain us" *hangs up phone*

big reason why i think student-athletes should get paid.

same thing happens in hollywood

I'm fine with Marshawn Lynch dealing with the media how he does, but think it belies both immaturity and hypocritical nature on his part.

The media coverage is an off-shoot of fan interest...the more crazed football fanatics fiending for every bit of football news, the more media there is.

However, the same can be said about the revenue the NFL earns, which ultimately goes into Lynch's ability to earn as a player...it's as high as it is, only because there are enough eyeballs glued to the tv every Sunday and sitting in those stands each week.

And as a service to those insatiable fans...the NFL wants its players to make themselves available if requested for a presser post-game or before the Super Bowl.

It's a minor inconvenience for someone who generates a **** ton of money for playing a kid's game for a living.

Football was not invented nor ever intended to be a child's game. The first game of football was played between Rutgers and Princeton. It wasn't designed to be the next gym class fitness phenomenon for little boys & girls.

It was meant to be a man's game and it is a man's game at this level. Just because kids play the game doesn't make it a children's game.

Great boxers often start as early as 5 or 6 with their training, as soon as they can walk their fathers put gloves on their hands and start working the pads. But nobody would ever consider boxing or combat sport a child's game.

Football is not a child's game for many of the same reasons boxing & MMA aren't child's play. It's a bloodsport, make no mistake.

It's also not a minor inconvenience when athletes, especially black athletes are expected to essentially shuck and jive for the media, play "nice", or the suffer the wrath of the media. Hell Lynch isn't even saying anything and look at the derogatory adjectives being thrown around by pundits to describe him.

Then you've got Sherman who'll gladly engage the media, but when he simply speaks his mind they turn around and pigeonhole him as some sort of thug or miscreant, when in reality he's far more eloquent and better educated than the very talking heads that criticize him.

It's essentially a no win situation for some guys, some guys are not going to say what the media expects them to say, some guys aren't going to sit there and play "role model" and be a PR puppet for the league. These guys are human beings and they shouldn't be expected to be anything other than what they are, football players.

Again, let the ones who want to be media darlings, role models, & pop culture icons be that. There is absolutely no shortage of guys who fit that mold.

no you just don't have a valid rebuttal.
not true. It's just...I've learned a long time ago, that you don't argue with irrationality. Because no matter how sound or irrefutable your argumentation...irrationality always thinks it has the right side on the matter.

Few are the people who won't grandstand when provided with a decent counter argument, and reverse their opinion or at least concede some errors in their logic...and on the internet, those people are even fewer.

you think so highly of your opinion that for anyone to take a contrary stance, they must be irrational.

Gotta love marshawn and sherman for being themselves..Some of ya'll don't like it?
laugh.gif
I'm pretty sure neither of them gives a flying ****...

lynch is doing his thing in a league run by whites he is just paid to play a role, that to be honest is worth more than the millions he gets you dont see the commissioner out there almost breaking his neck but he gets more than the players do, most people dont see beyond the field the whole organization is ****** up but people like sherman and lynch know how to irritate the system just within its boundries to not get kicked out. i respect the hustle and where they came from let them boys talk they **** because they deserve every second of it and to the reporters who get upset its comical the dude doesnt relate to you thats why he doesnt respond let them ball thats what they love to do aint no reason to need to hear them speak the actions they make on the field are louder anyways

on a lighter note anyone see the pic @Dependable Jay posted on IG a few weeks back
these shoes define perfection dont think i seen a nicer pair of cleats in my life

People still asked him questions after pfjfjrjfndjdn

Shout out to all my real Africans out there. :smokin

He is dope. Go Pats though

I do feel like his behavior may be painting a picture (to the media) of him as a 'brute' though :nerd:. But then again, when people start calling people 'thugs' and 'gorillas' etc. they basically expose themselves so let the truth fly :pimp:

excellent post, bruh...

but...

"my kids look up to him as a role model!! what should i tell them???"

It's called being a parent, punk. and parenting is sometimes difficult when you have to tell them the truth about their heroes
