So word on the street is, JB is cutting off mom and pops stores in July.

I doubt a complete removal from all stores, I can see penalizing stores who sell early and price gauge but not all

kinda got the hint from my local spot about this back in November.  Wasn't sure if they were going to make the cut or not.  Guess the proof is in the pudding

This came up last year as well. I would like to see it happen though only to these corrupt stores who backdoor limited releases on a regular basis.

it figures, nike goal is to protect their brand from grey markets and unauthorized sellers. Also, putting their shoes in these rundown locations is not a good look.  i figure the end game is to sell jordan retros and higher priced nikes with authorized sellers like apple does with its products. Which makes sense for everybody.

Good. No more resellers getting full size runs from their "plug". No more back dooring. More pairs online. This is good.

Yep this started last year. My mom and pop down here I been buying from for 16 years started getting cut off last year. He used to get everything and this year he was only getting kid and baby sizes. He would only get men sizes randomly. They wouldn't even let him know what/when was coming. This man has been in business and selling nikes since like 1990. Said he's shutting the store down in Sept. I used to get all the releases I wanted 2-3 weeks before release date for the last 10 years and he never charged me tax. He only let people get em early if u had been shopping with him for years. Otherwise he would tell u he doesn't sell early and u can get em from him on release date

Pretty selfish move imo.I understand Nike and Jordan wanting to protect their brand but cutting off small businesses, which make up for most of the businesses in the US, is just disgusting. There will be many shop owners who will be forced to go out of business cause they arnt getting Nike releases that draw large volumes to the stores. Its a shame.

I remember being charged 220 for the Cool Grey 11s 2 weeks early in 2010. I was younger and very foolish so I saw it as a come up. I think they should just enofrce the stores to keep the retail prices as well as make sure they don't sell early.

Exactly

Jordan Brand has out of touch greedy people working at the top that really have no idea what the true essence of this brand is. Urban retailers are the backbone of JB. Urban retailers are the accounts that were moving sneakers when they sat in major chain stores or returned to distribution outlets when JB started out. The urban accounts influence these styles, colors, designs that suburban/hypebeasts follow. Look how alot of you suburbanites are buying Drug Dealer/Midwest Gang inspired Just Don gear trying to look "cool". JB is really shooting themselves in the foot with this move. Someone will capitalize in the always proven influential urban market from this absence.

This move won't hurt JB at all. Where do you think more people are going to, the mom and pop shops and sneaker boutiques or Foot Locker?

Exactly. This will hurt resellers and shady mom and pops. For consumers it will mean more pairs at retail locations like ftl and more pairs online.

they deserve it haha. this is going to put a huge dent in those store's revenue.

a lot harder to make a lot selling a bunch of regular jordans and other shoes than ripping people off on hyped up retros.

he may have not charged you taxs but did you pay retail for the shoe or 3x the price

that sounds like the proper solution but there's no way they can or would be willing to monitor it that closely. it would require too many resources and we all know how nike operates. they broke their trust and they are just going to have to face the consequences. nike doesn't feel mom n pop shops are worthwhile anymore to their sales. they see how ridiculously hyped things got on their own so they might as well move them in their own store, or sell to trustworthy companies. why reward the snakes
