I'm actually 15 and my dad brought me to a wizards Timberwolves game when I was five so technically I did see him play. But I definitely agree

im only 25 and i barely saw him play to be able to understand and respect his greatness while he was playing  my timing of his career might be a little off

There's this thing called Yourube, ESPN Classic, NBa TV Etc, so perhaps KD caught a Celtics/Lakers marathon and got a hard on from watching Larry Legend cook.

As for the KD 8, I love the design just not the price lol. Even though i can get a discount I'll wait until the final price is sub $100.00. V8 I really so far.

exactly the point I was trying to make haha. plus its larry legend, how do you not respect and idolize him?

When I was a kid in the 80's, everyone I knew idolized MJ and none of my friends gave a crap about Larry Bird cause he wasn't as flashy as MJ, Magic, Dominique, etc. I don't think we had a great appreciation of his basketball talent at that time. As you grow older you realize that there is more to basketball than dunk contests. That's not to say that MJ isn't worthy of being idolized, because he was the best player I've ever seen, but Bird was just criminally underrated by me. Now my dad, he would swear up and down that Bird was the greatest player around but we wouldn't have it.

I believe Larry Bird is forgotten to a certain degree. Even though he gets credited along with Magic for saving for NBA, and was one of the marquee players during the golden years and wildly popular during the first Dream team run in '92, he didn't market himself heavy outside of basketball after his career was over. It wasn't in his nature. After he stopped playing in 1992 He went away for a while, worked with the Celtics, won a NBA Coach of the year with the pacers (Only player to win NBA MVP and Coach of the Year so far), and lead them to 3 consecutive Conference Finals and a Finals in 2000.

Magic on the other hand stayed visible with the '96 Comback and with the Starbucks, Movie Theatres etc etc among many other things. Most kids of this generation know Magic as the "Magic Theatre" guy. Kids in my building was shocked to find out that he used to play basketball and wondered how the hell he won 3 MVP and was a triple double machine despite being african american and unable to jump over a telephone book.

Overall, true basketball savants, junkiies, know Larry Bird really well. 24, 10, and 5 for his career, 3 rings, and an overall laid back dude. Team Sagittarius. Funny thing is even though people loved to bring up race and how a white dude was kicking black dudes **** on the court, he pretty colorblind and chilled with mostly black dudes and said in an interview that he used to get offended when opposing teams would stick a white dude on him.

Oh yeah. passing on the Vinary cw.

I've never heard Larry Bird left out the all time great conversations.
me neither....i dont know where that came from.......he probably not that popular to some because he doesn't have a sneaker line, plus in the 80s and 90s the dunkers got the love or simply because he be chilling and not visible like that.....anybody interested in bball SHOULD know that man was bad

Real talk. These days people kinda look past Larry Bird. Dude was bad..Bird, Magic, Isiah, Worthy, Moses Malone, Benard King, The Doctor, Worthy, Mc Hale, The Chief, Jabbar, Alex English, Dantley, Ralph Sampson, Buck Williams, Clyde, Aguirre, Iceman, Hakeem, Jordan....and a slew of others were a MAJOR part of the 70s and 80s era of the NBA. Most of these guys arent even mentioned in NBA talk these days. Dont expect to hear these names unless you was born in the 70s or early 80s. i was born in 75...And my father being a die hard Celtic fan..i use to get tired of hearing about that damn team..only to later appreciate the history behind that team and its players.
