Official Nike KD VIII (8) Thread - "Easy Euro" OCTOBER 17th!!

When it comes to price, if you've bought any Jordan's over the last 10 years then I don't see the issue. Dudes will drop a grip on sneakers that are out dated for basketball use with horrid quality quick. How many banana shape Js y'all clowning these own? How many Jordan 1s (basketball shoes that people skate in) do y'all own? Dudes go crazy for 1s but wanna call these runners?

It's all good though. People will flock to the Kyrie line because they are cheaper and make these a breeze to get. Easy pickups for me.

I think that is the gripe though. You buy these to ball in. That means you compare them to other performance basketball shoes. And $180.....i mean lets be real...you can't tell me that these will perform that much better than say the Nike Hyperchase.

These are $110. And imho look way better than the KD8s
Jordan 1s are Jordan 1s you are buying them for aesthetics not performance. So if you want a Jordan 1...there aren't many other alternatives (maybe a dunk hi). But for a performance basketball sneaker....$180 is pushing it for a KD.

That being said...if they go on discount...and can be had for $120 or so...id cop a pair to ball in.

I am no shoe designer, and very limited in my MS Paint skills, but I took 3 existing shoes and made what I saw in the KD 8..... Very lazy on Nike's part in my opinion.

Vomero 10 + CP3.VIII + Air Max 2015 = KD 8

I was talking about Retros increasing in price 10 a year

Trust me if KD IVs were retroed tommorrow you are looking at nothing less than $140
Oh haha I got you. But you know what, I'd pay $110 for a KD 2- 4, loved those silos and the colorways they dropped on them. But yeah, KD IVs started the craze that nike loves to stir up.

And I'd be surprised if they retro the KD IV and they manage to use even more stiff materials in that shoe. Durability was fantastic on those though.

Uninspired.

Its like theyre designing the shoe specifically to acomidate a bunch of cws.

Liking the white/red CW up there

The shoe however, not so much

That's a fair reason. Only thing is you can't look at a shoe and know how it will preform. VC 4 is still my all time favorite basketball shoe to hoop in. No performance review or tech jump has changed that. Everyone is different and you have dudes out here bashing shoes they've never even tried on. $180 for a KD would be pushing it, if the quality was that of 4. Who honestly expected the tech to improve but price to stay the same? Every signature sneaker ever has grown in price over time.

If people think they're ugly then that's their personal taste. Price tag wasn't and shouldn't be a shock at all. I guarantee the Kyrie 5 will be about 30-40 more than the 1.

I definitely agree with everything you said repped

For all i know they will rave about the upper and zoom bags and traction and it could be a performance beast. Nike's strategy is quite strange some times to me. Moving the KD up in price basically puts it in direct competition with the Kobe. I had figured you had Lebron (big strong) Kobe (quick fast) KD (cheaper all around shoe) Kyrie (new cheapest). I would think that you could tier it a bit with Kyrie then KD then Kobe then Lebron price wise.

But nike is a billion dollar company im sure they know what they are doing

If you want to talk price increase Jordan retros are the outliers

I'm talking about 100% Nike basketball shoe line. KD's are the "cheap" shoe of the bunch and is made as such. Cheaper designs, materials, cushioning, ect. These are 180 but STILL are made like the "cheap" shoe . That's just a slap to the face

And yes I know price increases are the norm, blah blah blah, but if they're 180 they should be top quality. I HATE the new Jordan's but you can't argue that their shoes are made A1 even though they look like the inside of ***.

Considering KD's foot issues the past year, and him obviously not liking playing in the 7. Maybe he wanted it this way

I've brought up the possible correlation between KD having garage quality shoes and his foot problem. Had a couple guys tell me that shoes don't protect your feet

From his like of the 6, which I dislike, KD seems to like running looking sleek kicks. They're probably putting in a higher level of tech for greater protection and comfort.

Official reveal coming really soon, just tweeted by KD

"It’s not just the ink on my body…attacking is in my DNA. #KD8" - KD

I'll do 2 to four pairs of the 8. Not too crazy about the shoe as of now especially that first colorway :smh: but I know Nike will deliver a few must have pairs. So I'll be keeping my eyes open for that.

Definitely in for a pair. Not a fan of the price but everything can be had for discount. So far got both the kobe x and LeBron 12 for under 140 each so I'm not sweating it.

I personally like the design since it's a more low profile flyknit air max and it's releasing off the bat without waiting for an elite tag.

Can a Nike athlete not reject a design?

Not only are these extremely uninspired, they're also expensive.

Did KD suddenly stop giving a damn about kids being able to afford his shoes AND what his shoes look like too ?

Uggh.

/rant
Yes, he stopped giving a damn when he took a $300 million dollar paycheck from Nike.  You think Nike is going to make that money back charging people $90 a shoe?

I wouldnt say they are the outliers. If any of the signature shoes retroed you are looking at a huge price hike. Like someone pointed out look at the preludes. I didnt follow Kobe line back then but I doubt the IIs were $200  And yes when all these lines are being actively retroed you can expect Nike to trick everyone into believing their GR releases are super limited.

Yes these are the cheap shoes but it is still following a trend of price hikes after they become popular. Lebron after the 8s, KD after the IVs, etc. Expecting any different because this is the "cheap" line makes no sense. Last year was the first time the Kobes had a significant 1 year jump in revenue. Going from $40M the year before to $100M this year. Expect the Kobe to be 240 in 4 years.

They honestly do very little in terms of injury prevention. Kd's problem is his flat feet and his size. Makes it easy to develop a fracture like his if you have faulty biomechanics
