The Official Kobe X iD thread

The medial side on my pair is default grey and the lateral side is starting to discolour just a bit.

Has nothing to do with the paint. It's just rubber changing colour over time. A little bit harder to tell cause of the speckles but it's the similar to yours.

Anyone else having this issue? Looks like the infamous spray painted MC on non Wolf grey medial pairs is bleeding into the clear upper midsole. I think I'm going to try and return them. Wore them once but still look DS.
I had this issue with my Team Elites. I wore them for ball and it looks like the coloring has seeped into the midsole.

I disagree. I think it has everything to do with the paint. I understand clear soles will discolor over time...I have 15 pair of Jordan 11s

but this is more than that. Clear soles will turn a yellowish orange...these are purple. When black bleeds into clear it will appear purple. And like I said...all 5 of my non-painted pairs are just fine. No purple. The biggest complaint of the asymmetrical iD Xs was the painted medial and this is a byproduct of it IMO. Like anything...just my opinion.

Im at work but tonight I'll take side by side pics to back up my theory. Either way...Im going to attempt to send em back like I should have in the first place.

View media item 2233861The same thing is happening to my pair with a black medial. View media item 2233864View media item 2233866View media item 2233867The strange thing about it is that it's only happening on the multi colored side. The area where it's all black doesn't have that discoloration except near the toe area where the MC flyknit starts. If the supposedly black paint is causing this then you would expect it to be more noticeable on the medial side where the whole side is "painted black". On a side note, when I chatted with a rep when these first came out months ago, to ask why the black side is painted, I was told that the flyknits are dyed and not painted. If that's the case then maybe the specific dye that they used on the DARKER multi colored (flyknits with black or dark grey medial) is bleeding into the translucent sole and for some strange reason the dye is not staying on the yarn as good as the black dye, hence the clear black side and the discolored multi colored side. The dye that they use on the LIGHTER flyknits (wolf grey medial) seems to not have this issue because my pair with wolf grey medial is perfect all around. That's just my theory and the only logical explanation, IMO.

The dye reacts with the glue used to fabricate the shoe.

Nike doesnt paint MC, its not possible.

Just wanted to say I really wish I doubled up or made another pair of the multicolor id. I hoop in my Kobe 10 MC id. Yeah I know, stupid idea to hoop in a $270 shoe, but they're fresh as hell and the traction/performance is better than all my other shoes. Because I hoop in them, it gets scuffed up something serious and folks keep stepping on them :frown:

Well if you ever wanted another pair, check ebay. Tons of pairs on there for less than retail.
