The go-to NT response.

Do you plan on taking your wife's name? Or if you're a female, do you expect your husband to take yours?

I am a 31 year old man, and I'll be damned if I get married and she either doesn't take my name or asks me to take hers.

I mean ..I just don't understand what would make someone do that. I don't really care if my wife takes my last name, but changing mine to hers? Hell no. My pops would have the never ending jokes

I worked woth a dude who str8 up took his wife last name. With no hyphen mever heard the story as to why but all i cud do was smh

What if her last name was cooler than yours? I think less than 10 people have been able to say my last name correctly. It's not even that difficult, people just don't know how to sound out words anymore.

Brah this!

My last name isn't that hard at all and people straight butcher it. Has me questioning a lot of people's intelligence :smh:

Not for marriage or getting married so I can say as funny as it is from the this isn't the way it's suppose to be standpoint it's not that big of a deal to me.

The woman taking the last name of the man is like the last vestiges of men having some type of ownership over women. So it's no surprise that a dude would get clowned for doing the opposite.

I know it's interesting that some families children take both the father's and mother's last name in hyphenated form.

But this right here...
Crazy to me.....

Jay-Z did it.

Some may be over how much press Beyonce has been getting over the past month, but we can't seem to get enough of it. And because of that, we've decided to give you a little extra look into Beyonce and Jay-z's marriage. For example, did you know that Jay-z actually took Beyonce's last name when they got married in October 2008.

According to Boston.com, Shawn Carter changed to Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyonce became Beyonce Knowles-Carter. "They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce's parents didn't have any sons and they're keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don't produce any children themselves," a source revealed.
Wait what?

Can't wait to see the likes of Deuce and other Knowles-Carter stans switch their tune up and say **** like Jay was man enough to be comfortable in changing/hyphenating his last name then watch them try to change the subject to Nas paying child support or something. Ol fradulent lyrics *** ******.

some sucka **** if you ask me.

If thats the ccase why not just have her keep her last name? Thats what we did, but the kids have my name which is all I care about

Don't see the big deal. I wouldn't do it but if it doesn't bother him then who cares.

No-witz-key?

Been married 8 years and this wasn't even a discussion.

While most women just throw in the hyphen, I was surprised that she completely dropped her maiden name.

I've never met a man who took his wife's last name, but I know lots of women that are researchers, doctors, etc. with published research who did not take
their husbands' last name. I've also seen married couples who's children have a hyphenated last name. I wouldn't have any of this, but to each his/her
own.

My wife didn't take my last name when we got married but I really wasn't all that concerned with it. She did suggest we both hyphenate our last names together, and I was like "Nah, I'm good. Just keep your last name..." I feel like that's a personal choice if I woman wants to do that and it depends on how she was brought up and her family dynamic but I personally couldn't change my name.

I don't plan on getting married nor have I ever thought of changing my last name. What I find humorous though is how everything is labeled "the feminization of man" when anything goes against the sociological status quo. A lot of males on NT are terrified of any change to their thought process on anything related to gender.

 Dude's father disowned him.

Was having this convo with a co-worker, super young, white, liberal feminist and she feels men should be open to it. Nah man

Man didn't know most men took their wives last name in Sweden.

Our old director would go on and on about how hot the women from Sweden are and then say a lot of them when they come to the US locate to Minnesota.

Anyway, mine took my last name no hyphen or none of that crap. My last name was all the way out there and is always hard to say while hers is a very common one.

All I got to say is that I would never disrespect my ancestors by taking my wifes name. #MrMeToo
