Better Call Saul Season Thread - Season Six - April 18th

I wonder if Jimmy can argue that he just said what he said to help Chuck out
I think it's obvious that the recording will only destroy the relationship Jimmy has with Kim. I wonder if Kim will give up the Mesa Verde account now knowing the condition she got it back. I believe that will be the extent of it though. We know Jimmy isn't disbarred because he is a lawyer in BB.  Even though he's using the name Saul Goodman he wouldn't be able to practice law in the state of NM if he had been disbarred.

Doesn't Kim already realize Jimmy did in fact alter the address?

Absolutely. Kim knows. She just looked the other way after having Jimmy's back.

Yeah exactly. So I don't see the recording really destroying her relationship with Jimmy. Unless she isn't as "ride or die" as she appears.

I didn't take it as Kim knew that Jimmy was guilty of Chuck's allegations. I viewed it as though she knew it was possible, she also sees the contempt that Chuck has for Jimmy and how would go through great lengths to discredit him. She sided with Jimmy because she was tired of him ******** on him every opportunity he had.

I think what I've come to realize from this season is that while Chuck is a player hater, Jimmy is a scumbag. They have both had grimey moments this season, but nothing is more flagrant than recording your own brother with the intention of getting him into trouble with the law. That being said, taking advantage of your brothers medical condition to win back a client for your girl that your bro fairly won back is also flagrant. Chuck won back Mesa Verde in a legal manner, although his intentions were suspect.

Ernesto is a real one :pimp:

That note :pimp: my dude Gus coming back

I don't think Jimmy played on Chuck's illness to get over.
It was a simple trick of switching numbers to delay the process of the application which it did. None of that had anything to do with Chuck's "mental disorder". Jimmy himself didn't even expect Chuck to take it to the levels that he did. Chuck was just on a mission to bury Jimmy after that point.
What? What are you talking about?

The only reason Jimmy even had an opportunity to sabotage Chuck is cuz Chuck was sick due to his "mental disorder" and he told Ernesto to leave cuz he'd take care of Chuck. None of that happens if Jimmy doesn't take advantage of Chuck's illness.

Then due to that he has Chuck looking crazy as **** during the official meeting/hearing thinking he made a mistake before he puts it together that Jimmy did this.

Also taking Mesa Verde back really isn't burying Jimmy.

Can the recording be used as evidence considering Jimmy didn't consent to it?
If Chuck takes this to the police sure. It's probably illegal to record someone without them knowing in a private setting but he can use it to let the dude running Mesa Verde hear it.

I feel like once they find out Chuck's mistake was due to somebody working with Kim in some capacity it'll ruin her reputation and she'll lose them for good and possibly won't be able to get new clients.

That's what I'm saying man. It pains me to defend Chuck but he had every right to go get Mesa Verde back, and did it in a legal way. Jimmy took full advantage of Chuck's "condition" to edit those documents. Mesa Verde wasn't even Jimmy's client, it was Kim's.

However what Chuck did when their mom passed away was dirty, just dirty. The salt in his blood during that moment was enough to season my steaks.

What Jimmy did wasn't specific to Chuck's illness. It was an opportunity to get what he wanted, but "Slippin Jimmy" would have gotten over on Chuck regardless of his illness. If Chuck wasn't a space cadet, and Jimmy waited for Chuck to leave one morning and took that opportunity to go in and change the documents isn't it the same thing? Jimmy would have gotten over no matter the circumstances, he would just have to switch up his method.

What he did would drive anybody crazy, just think about it. You plan and prepare and application to file and the address you've been seeing and using is 1216. Now after all that work is done you hear the correct addy is 1261, and the mistake you made will delay processing of the application indefinitely. Who wouldn't go bat **** crazy off of that news? You guys are making it seem like Jimmy was on some "my bro is a mental case, let me do this to make him even crazier and sit back and laugh while he runs around like a chicken with his head cut off". This wasn't a sibling prank, he was trying to sabotage HHM so Mesa Verde will go back to Kim. Chuck technically didn't do anything wrong, but you can't deny that his motives for going after Mesa Verde were to spite Jimmy by making Kim suffer. He would have never gone all out the way he did if Jimmy and Kim wern't in business together. They didn't need that client, Chuck was being Chuck and he tried to **** Jimmy over where it would hurt him most.

Either way you put it, Jimmy went above and beyond to embarrass his own brother while Chuck simply got his client back. Was what Chuck did messed up? Yes it was but not like what Jimmy did.

Chuck went out of his way to hold Jimmy's law career back multiple times. Now he went out of his way to make sure his partner didn't get an account that he didn't care about at all. All directly to hold Jimmy back. How is any of that right?

Jimmy was actually trying to get the account back. Like Howard said, the mistake was something that everyone missed (allegedly). It didn't reflect solely on Chuck. (He just made it worse by freaking out with Mesa Verde) The law being on Chuck's side doesn't make what he did better or worse.

fwiw I've been watching these guys' episode breakdowns every week, some really cool stuff.... idk why their view counts are so low

I was having this convo with a friend. She got mad at Chuck for convincing his own client to stay. But she was cool with Jimmy committing a felony to sabotage his own brother. Ever since I saw Jimmy stealing from his own dad, I started looking at him funny. Even when Chuck hit his head and damn near died, Jimmy was still hesitating on running to help.

Chuck pulled a Jimmy move on Jimmy and now people are mad at that. You can't have it both ways.

I still want Chuck to die asap tho. Hope he gets tazed to death.

You're talking about what if scenarios.

I'm talking about what actually happened on the show. Chuck's illness is the only reason Jimmy had the chance to do what he did.

It's the Skylar effect.

Dudes hate Chuck so much they're ignoring Jimmy or maybe it's one sided and they expect him to do it but Chuck can't.

@Mark Antony not sure which part confused you.

I don't like Chuck's character. Mainly because of his ridiculous "Illness". That doesn't mean I'm gonna be on Jimmy's side when he's being a snake. Chuck finally beat him at his own game. I can't be mad at him for that.

I still want his character gone, tho. Not because he "screwed" Jimmy. Just because I hate the character.

I'm Team Jimmy with y'all, but I cant look past his flaws. The dude would probably still be in jail if it wasnt for Chuck

Yeah I know Jimmy is a scumbag but Chuck hates him because no matter how much good he does everyone still loves Jimmy. He hates that. if his pettiness didn't stem from that, I'd like chuck more.
