Better Call Saul Season Thread - Season Six - April 18th

At first, he said he couldn't take the money unless they hired him. But then he justified it to himself by saying that he would use the money to build a foundation for the future.

Him doing the phony accounting is just a way of covering his tracks in case someone looks into how he got all this extra cash. If they hired him, he wouldn't have taken the money. He would've just billed them normally and since it's a high profile case - he'd reap the benefits long-term.

if he's their lawyer then why did kim say she wanted hire a pr firm for them later in the ep?

They hired him as a front for the money, although I'm sure they will use him some how. many people hire more then one lawyer

Watch that part again. He said that's the only way he can take the money.

you re-watch that part cuz your the incorrect one who doesnt think hes wrong

edit: lets entertain your incorrectness

if that was him becoming the lawyer for them why is there an entire scene of him making up fees to justify the money? if he became thier lawyer its all one wop --- retainer period no other "etc, made up charges needed"
One giant stack as 'miscellaneous expenses.'

They didn't hire him. Kim is still their lawyer.

Mrs. Kettleman is pretty steadfast about not hiring him, because he's the type of lawyer that guilty people hire (the irony ).

He calculated all those fees in his office just to make himself feel better about taking the money. I think that was a really nice touch, by the way.
He calculated those fees in case the Feds run an audit on him.

He had to, that's business. Got to.justify 80k which is out the norm for a retainer fee. Lawyers get paid by the hour

I don't think they hired him...he took the money to keep quiet and then was calculating all the fees for being Nachos lawyer so he wouldn't feel guilty about taking the bribe...technically Nacho said he was his lawyer so someone had to pay for his services.

The Kettlemens didn't hire him. On another note.. Wouldn't Saul become an accessory to the crime because he accepted their stolen money?

They didn't hire him.

He probably considered the money as payment for a consultation and then made up all those fees to justify it.

Yeah, the Kettleman's didn't hire him

Her saying "you're the type of lawyers guilty people hire" and rejecting him was basically the inciting event that pushed him to take the bribe, buy the clothes, put up the billboard, then do the publicity stunt.

i.e. the whole episode

Yeah, that makes the most sense.

That's why he said they would have to hire him or a retainer fee, it was a front so he could get the money legally.

Dude ain't dumb. With him being there so call lawyer he don't and can't tell the cops anything. Lawyer client privilege like on oj and his lawyer and that suitcase he handed to his lawyer in front of police that police couldn't touch

He was counting and accounting the money he got from them, the money he got was on the table while he was counting it
