It doesn't have to be climatic. They could end it before the first meeting between Saul & Walt or something like that.

or they can have a season that transitions into the breaking bad era but all from Sauls point of view and end to how he went to Cinnabon spot.

I'm not talking about the 1st or 2nd episode. We know he's not going to die period. There isn't going to be a situation in which Saul will die in the last episode like Walt. Due to that, we know, he's never going to be in any REAL danger. What's most likely gonna go down is that people around him will be put in danger and since he's a lawyer and all he's going to have to get them out of it.

The point of any show (unless it's called You're Gonna Die) shouldn't be whether or not the protagonist is going to die or not.

Don't really get the point of this stating of the obvious. Saul won't die in the prequel eps, so what? The show is more than is so and so going to die.

Not to mention they already went post-BB in the opening scene, i.e. a place in the story where we don't know what happens...

Knowing whether or not Saul is going to be in danger is only one element of the storytelling. There are a ton of other conflicts and story threads they'll be focusing on where we don't know what to expect

Unless the show keeps putting him in danger and expecting us to be on the edge of our seat, it shouldn't be a problem.

For example, at the end of this episode, the intriguing part isn't that he has a gun pointed to him... it's who's pointing it and how that's gonna kickstart the story.
 
I can see how the car scene was confusing. Seemingly nice neighborhood. Why would they have a station wagon?. I also thought it was a mistake on Saul's part and it was just the old lady (maids) car to begin with. It now looks like it was the wrong car?

I was also confused at first with who Chuck was. But then I realized, it didnt really matter. Brother, dad, cousin, or family friend, Saul seemed to care about him and his well being. But at the same time, he wanted him to cash out of his share of the law firm. For either Saul's own benefit, or for Saul to feel like HH&M wasn't taking advtanage of family with the weekly checks... The C&D notice on his own name was that first straw into "breaking bad". And once you engage with criminals (Tuco), I don't think we'll be going at a light hearted pace anymore.

He's his brother. I think Saul wanted him to cash out for his own benefit and because he cares, because he believes Chuck won't get better and the checks he's getting won't amount to what he feels Chuck is owed.

Need to watch again to catch any BB references I may have missed.

Loved that they started with the Cinnabon scene since that was described in Saul's last conversation with Walt.

Also does anybody have an idea what type of illness Chuck has?

Anyone else notice how the Hamlin guy ends up low balling Chuck. The checks he sent to Saul were for 26,000 and then the check he personally brings to chuck was for a measly 857 dollars.
 
can't say enough how happy i am. this was amazing. stylistically it was breaking bad with the little nuggets of humor and the neat camera shots. love the subtle shout outs to breaking bad too and the show kept me thoroughly entertained. vince gilligan is a gawd, he made a show about a scumbag lawyer 100x more entertaining than a network flagship show about zombies. exceeded expections! :pimp:

This show did NOT disappoint!! Felt like a more entertaining episode of BB. Cannot wait to watch more man. This show is gonna be GOLDEN! So far all the characters are great, I pray to got they don't try and push another skyler white type character on us :rofl:

I liked it too.

It's cool to see how Saul ended up how/where he was.

I felt bad for him when he was watching his old commercials tho....
 
Well at least we know why he changed his name from Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman, probably has something major to do with Chucks firm.
 
I thought I read somewhere that he changed his name to Goodman, in order to trick potential clients to think he was jewish.
