adult braces

Had mine for about 6 years going on 7. bottom first then top after 1 year. got em after highschool. i am 25 now. about 2500$, monthly was only 70 bucks. all paid off but they had to do massive work. plus wisdom teeth recently came in and were impacted so that slowed ish down. i'm expected to get em off this year. very excited

It's totally worth it in my opinion. all the pain, appointments, and those days when you can't eat anything but soup. at the end of the day. you'll have a nice smile with some pearly whites. and who doesn't like that. they took my braces off as a test last week and boy, my teeth were something. lookin like i was born in Hollywood. was tempted to run out that bish and never look back.

The orthodontist will give you a pamphlet of what not to eat. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. i didn't do this when i first started and it slowed ish down even more. not to mention trying to get food out. Srs though, eat what it recommends. No wings, doritos, liquorice, hi chew (guily pleasure), anything that's hard or chewy. but pizza and pretty much anything else is simply personal preference.

Get lifted. i know that smoking causes some ish, especially when using wraps but if you use other instruments, it'll help you forget about your braces. and ease the pain after an appointment. but that's when you gotta say no to doritos and cheetohs etc. just grab a twinkie or some creampies, whatever. Get lifted.

As for yambs? easy. always have been. i'm not shy about my braces. in fact, some girls actually like it because they know you're gonna have a nice Hollywood smile when they off. I still eat. more than i should actually. but only if there isn't a bush, of course. never had an encounter that stopped me midway. just make sure you don't do it after an appointment.

I'm familiar with what they do in order to get your teeth perfect so if you guys have questions feel free. hope this helps.

p.s. my older brother is going on 11 years... 11 years. tf

Got em when I was 21, get them off this month I'm 23 now. Getting braces is always worth it no matter the age

Never heard of someone having to wear braces over 3 years let alone 7 or 11

this, your ortho just cashing your checks

28 just about to 29, had a consult with a ortho yesterday.

I wanted to fix my bite, but they only way I can do it is through surgery. So I don't think I'm doing to bother, even though it causes problems.

To straighten my teeth dude told me 7 months, since they're pretty straight already. But dude told be quote "I wouldn't even do it if I were you"

I had braces as a kid. I had a bad overbite. Chose not to get some teeth pulled so I still have a minor overbite. Regret it. Didn't wear my retainer when I was supposed to. Thinking of getting them again.

I usually tell patients that traditional metal braces is the way to go. Highly prefer that instead of Invisalign. If anything, ask for the ceramic brackets. I had ortho done on me for a second time and went with ceramic brackets, not that noticable.

Also, usually tell patients to use whitestrips instead of bleaching/whitening their teeth if they can then come back to me for a second opinion.

How much do the ceramic brackets go for? The more I read this thread, the more I feel my teeth could still be made straighter ( i had invisalign a couple years back)

pricing is all relative. But the ceramic brackets should be about the same a the metal ones, just ask.

can't cash nothing when they've already been paid off

my girl uses those crest whitening strips, not sure which style maybe 3D? but they do wonders. i sometimes get caught staring at how white they are

is it weird that some girls look cuter to me when they got braces
My man one up.

But I had braces during high school, didn't wear my retainer often, teeth shifted, going to get some them again in a year or two

This. I think I had mine for 3-4 and ended up getting them off during the second semester of my first year of college and I was dorming out of state. The retainer was a pain in the *** so I was a bit negligent in my wear of it so I have perfectly straight teeth with three gaps :smh:

I keep just saying that I should let it be since I really don't want to go through that process again and my grill could be a lot worse, but knowing that there was a period of time post-braces where I didn't have those spaces make it hard to ignore.

28 years old thinking of getting braces, i got an under bite all my teeth are lined up but my two upper's are tucked in. Most under bite cause of having a extended jaw bone. I heard they knock your jaw bone out and im not trying to do that if it comes to it. I heard they you can get braces done on the inside rather on the outside... someone fill me in please

If your teeth needs a little shifting, ClearCorrect and Invisalign is for you.

But if your teeth looks anything like James Harden's, I would def go the metal route.

had braces from 12-14.. Got them off right before high school. Its worth it IMO... I need to get a retainer now at 32 since my wisdom teeth arent going to come in (have to get them cut out) and since they shifted my teeh (my bite, teeth still straightened).

Im looking at getting one when I get my wisdom teeth cut out around May.

I visited with an orthodontist recently and he advised that along with having braces for two years, he would want to install a permanent bracket behind my bottom front teeth for the rest of my life. My teeth are not in bad shape, and he was saying that many people have that to retain the shape of their teeth.

Anyone have experience with this?
