Why Kendrick rightfully lost to Mack=Why the grammys aren’t worth squat

The answer was pretty evident to me, though I never listened to a Mack album more than once. Popularity contests are a large part of rap, this especially applies towards the rappers that are nominated. Talent alone is not enough to win, thanks to a ****** judging system. I think Kanye shouldn’t have been too surprised about the Beck award.

For us to claim Grammys don't mean ****
Which I agree
People seem to still be butthurt when artists don't win
Man who cares just buy and listen to what u like
If it's good music to u that's all that matters

It's a double edge sword. Artist of that caliber are competing for that type of exposure and glory  all the time. Being nominated for a grammy is pivotal in an artists' career. The Grammy's are so upsetting bc it is important to the artist to make there, but only for them to be judged unfairly. People that aren't really "into music", whatever the eff that means, tune in to watch the grammy's , thats unreal exposure. I hope Kanye just blows that MF up next time.

"Yeezus", "Nothing Was the Same" & "GOOD Kid, M.A.A.D. city" lost to "The Heist".

Very telling....

Macklemore won because he supports the gay agenda and the music industry ( the puppet masters) are full of gays. Its pretty simple.

Beck is not more popular than Beyonce.
Beyonce is actually a verb in some cases.

If i was the "REAL" artists i wouldn't give two *****...why expect a troll not to troll? Grammy's aint know **** bout hip hop so when they give the most popular album "the best album" award, its a troll job. Who cares seriously.

Hip hop awards, music awards are the ones that really matter when it comes to the actual content of the music.

Kendrick will have a better discography and stay relevant for decades. Macklmore, good luck once you're done selling out.

not sure why mac gets so much hate, its not his fault he wins these awards and he's always been respectful towards hiphop culture

Why do people place so much importance on a Grammy award? Pretty sure they've been irrelevant in regards to hip-hop/rap music since forever.

You think Beck won a "popularity contest" over Beyonce?

In compliance with the way the Grammys are judged, yeah I suspect Beck is deemed more likeable by the selected voters. It's like a high school contest for year book superlatives Instead of a fair judging system.

from an artistic and a personal standpoint it shouldn't matter, the record is good to you then that's enough.

I think the issue is people wanting to see things represented and "graded" fairly.

we don't need to keep score but since we are, let's do it the right way

musically, it's a serious platform of recognition of a very wide scale. It's supposed to reflect an artists hardwork and talent instead it disrespects hiphop and artist should fight to change this.

I don't hate him at all, nor do I blame him. He was placed in a bar spot and will be a prime example of the Grammys faulty judgement for years.

The problem is that giving Beck the award doesn't fall in line with your rationale as to why they gave Mack the award.

And what exactly would a "fair judging system" be if the one in place is not that?

I haven't even heard Beck's album. Nor Beyonce's. Have NO IDEA which one I think is better.

What I do know is that his rant was ridiculous and misguided given the artist at hand (Beck).

The first year of the Best Rap Album award, Naughty By Nature beat out 2Pac and Bone Thugs.  No disrespect to Naughty b/c they have classics, but......

Two years later in '98, Puffy beat out Wu-Tang, Biggie and Missy.  PUFFY.  Again, no disrespect to Puff, but......

Ludacris has a Grammy.  LUDACRIS.  I love Ludacris, but.......

And The Roots have none.

Sorry, but from the jump the award hasn't really meant much and that has been pretty obvious, IMO.

Not for nothing, but the award doesn't mean much period. Regardless of what genre you're in.

You get a 1 week sales spike and then it's business as usual.
