3 Muslim students shot to death in apartment near UNC Chapel Hill

The father of the murdered girls said his daughter and husband came across him before and had issues with him, and it was clearly hate-crime motivated and not because of the parking dispute. He would come to them arguing with the gun in his belt but the couple never thought he'd go that far.

Wow at some of the excuses in here. ..so a far left atheist cannot be a racist or hate-filled against other religions or religious followers?

What people are arguing about is the narrative. So how is this not terrorism? If this was reversed, it would be considered a terrorist act. Someone mentioned terrorism includes political means, how is this not political? Yet if it was a Muslim murderer, it is always political
motives and terrorism.

It boggles my mind at the double standards and blatant prejudice and racism accepted towards Muslims.

R.I.P. to the couple and sister of the wife. They seemed like amazing and gnervous kids. So tragic and so sad.

Found the quote from the father:
"We have no doubt that the way they looked and the way they believed had something to do with this," Mohammad Abu-Salha said.

When his son-in-law lived alone in the condominium complex, the family never had any problems. But once his daughter moved in, wearing a headscarf that clearly identified her as Muslim, trouble started, he said.

"My daughter, Yusor, honest to God, told us on more than two occasions that this man came knocking at the door and fighting about everything with a gun on his belt, more than twice," her father said. "She told us, 'Daddy, I think he hates us for who we are and how we look.'"

I also read the wife's best friend saying he'd fight them over such minor things that were not issues, as if just to intimidate them.

Going in and shooting in the head execution style seems like he was quite hateful towards them.

Pretty much what I've seen over the last day

I hope more info begins to come out to clarify all this though

Hilarious, when a brown extremist kills people the world expects all the Muslims in the world to apologize and DEMAND condemnation. In this situation, they are trying to get us to believe that this was over a parking spot. GFTFOOH

nobody is saying that am extreme atheist doesn't do damage...

Its just that its not as common for a person that LACKS religion to kill... In comparison to other people that kill because of HAVING a religion...

If that makes senses

Some of the discussions in here have me :smh:

I'm a lawyer by profession. I practice in civil rights law. I've seen hate and bias crimes before. There's no doubt in my mind that these murders were motivated, at least in part, by the killer's disdain for Islam/Muslims. That's what a hate/bias crime is - a crime motivated in whole or in PART because of someones race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, etc.

This guy was anti-religion but made it especially clear on his FB page that he disdains Islam. There's plenty of stuff on there about how Muslims are violent, hate free speech, I wouldn't hate them if they didn't hate me, etc. Was the parking dispute a TRIGGER of the crime? Maybe and probably. Was it the MOTIVATION, absolutely not. He had parking disputes with other neighbors and he didn't go into their homes and execute them as well. You all need to disginguish the two: the trigger (the straw that broke the camel's back) versus the motivation (what was underneath that straw). Clearly, it was his hatred for religion and Islam in particular so he went into their home and executed each one of them with a bullet in the head.

On a side note: let's not forget the media's role in this. The media has been harboring a hostile environment for a long time now. We saw it last month when we were all here criticizing Fox News for their "No Go Zones" and when Bobby Jindal was parading around the religious right picking on Islam. The justification has been "it's OK to pick on religions because they are ideas and all ideas are open to criticism." I agree in principle with that premise but what we've been seeing in public discourse about Islam hasn't been about JUST the religion and has conflated to attacking MUSLIMS too. I remember one guy was saying "I don't hate moderate Muslims, I hate Islam" and when he was asked what is a moderate Muslim he responded "someone who denounces the violent versus of the Qur'an and denounces Prophet Muhammad because he was a violent individual." So in this guys' mind, the only "acceptable" Muslim is the one who denounces the CENTRAL FIGURE of the entire religion. You see how that conflates Islam into meaning all Muslims? Because now, at least in his mind and in the dominate narrative, if you're a follower of Prophet Muhammad (which ALL Muslims believe btw), then you're an enemy. Unacceptable.

I sincerely hope media and public discourse takes some degree of responsibility and stops fear-mongering and fostering a hostile environment for Muslims. We should be ashamed as Americans that our MAINSTREAM media has gotten to this point where young Muslim girls are afraid to be out in public for too long with their headscarf because there's a possibility, regardless of slight it is, that some LOON that believes their garbage will act on it.

Ino one said its cool for blacks to kill blacks.

But when a white person kills a black it is much more beteer news material than the black on black crime that happens in chicago everyday

Got me scared to be nonreligious now...

Honestly, I really dont see it religious related... just a bunch of coincidental issues. People have killed over TONS of petty things. A parking space is not so far fetched.

As it was was mentioned, how come he did not kill other neighbours he had parking disputes with and how come there were no problems with the male resident until his wife who wears a hijab moved in a month ago.

I liked American Sniper and recognise is a movie base on factual events. I also recognise what happened was in a war environment and the movie and events showed good Muslims families , extremist and the in betweeners. It Showed Americans pro and against the war and people that were just impartial and took it as a job.

I'm not into tweeter nor I have heard all this propaganda that is making American hate Muslims. I would think that 9/11 might be reason enough for anyone sick to take that stance.

Just curious and I'm looking for someone to educate me in all that's gong on because of the movie. Please also provide me links and articles for all these American extrimist that recently found their hate for Muslims because of the movie.
