Nike SNKRS App Nike.com/SNKRS

App was just supposed to be another way to get shoes. People hyped it up which leads to these types of posts.

I can honestly say once I received my codes I was cooking on every release that i wanted. But now, its pretty much just like Ndc (Traffic wise) ehh lets just see what happens. Hopefully Nike has something up theirs sleeves to rectify their mess up.

You don't get it. It's NOT a mess up.

it sure is a mess up.  The bots exploited the app and here we are without any Jordan releases for 3 weeks now.  Had they built it with some level of security to combat scripting we wouldn't be in this predicament.  Mess up

You and your assumptions. That and taking a different argument and skewing it.

Ok, i see what youre saying, but What was the purpose of creating the app in the first place if the outcome would be just like ndc? If they did that just to play with our emotions then thats fubar'd but then again, thats what theyre best at.

plenty of places have apps that we use. for example, i use my best buy app all of the time vs using my browser on the phone.

apps make the user experience simpler. they generally dont guarantee product. we just had a period of time where we were the "beta" users and there was limited access to it. nowhere in the description does it ever say "guarantee yourself the shoes if you use this app."

i can honestly say I've enjoyed its use (when its working right) vs using the mobile version on my phone. i mean, the queue is absolutely money even if i dont get the shoes i want. much better than constantly selecting my size and trying to add to cart.

You keep parroting the same response that everyone makes it out to be something it isn't and throwing shade at everyone who says how good it use to be.  Nike messed it up and its not any of our faults or any of us having unmeetable expectations.

This I agree with, but Nike still messed up but not using this as an opportunity to close out bots.

if you say so. i told you the app would be like this forever ago. you just didn't want to believe it.

Yea he said this since day 1... I ain't wanna believe it either but it's true.. The app had its advantage during beta stages now nothing

I don't think you understand my point from day 1.   I understand that if Nike makes 50,000 shoes and there are 100,000 people who want them, that half will miss out regardless of how great the app is.

The app was great for the first little while cause there were limited amount of users, but also because nobody had figured out how to exploit it for a little bit of time.  If I miss out that's fine, but if I miss out to a bot that sucks.  Congrats you figured out from forever ago that shoes will still sell out and some people will strike out.  That hasn't been my point at all.

If you say so... I take your posts from a literal perspective and most of your posts have been dreams.

I see no reason to believe that Nike ever intended to use this app to help the customer. Everything about the app is set to provide with an absolutely treasure trove of information. Store your credit card number? Store your billing address? Store your mailing address? Your name? Your e-mail? Your shoe size? What types of Nike products you prefer? What types of Nike products you buy? What is your cell phone number? Type of phone? Billing account tied to your phone? Area of phone usage?

Every one of those things I listed is something that Nike can use to market to you, sell your info, start clamping down on bots (not completely, but build a much stronger "mapping" of where their product goes) if they ever actually want to, and figure out where products are selling. If the app produces heavy traffic from specific "rural" hotspots, they can target shipments to those markets. It can greatly improve their efficiency while vastly increasing their knowledge and access to their target markets and help them control what shoe goes where.

Beyond the app, I'd be surprised if Nike is dumb enough to not be already scanning each unique pair prior to shipment. If each shoe is given a unique code and they track that code, they can monitor where the shoe actually ends up when it's on the internet. Pretty easy way to figure out the end location that way instead of trying to cut the heads off of all the offshoots.

Of course, this assumes that Nike has any true interest in anything, which they don't because they make $12 billion easy every year in straight profit. So, lol jk wtf omg bbq at all of us.

You make some valid points, but they had access to a lot of that info through nike.com anyway

Exactly... You're just wrapped up in the conspiracy theory ideas. Nike already had most of that info. You really think they would spend all that money to develop the software, just to collect data they already have access to??

I'm late to the discussion, but I quickly deleted the app. It seems geared to the younger Jordan demographic. I'm more of an obscure early 90's Nikehead.

I'm pretty sure anyone on his board is an expert at finding Nikes anywhere in the world regardless of demand or availability. I re-copped the baroque Pythons (awful toe leather again) out of a rice barrell in a dark alley in Hong Kong.

I think the big misconception is that Nike never said anything about the app stopping bots. The only thing they promoted was a new checkout method. As @bigj505 said, most retailers have a mobile app to browse. I personally believe the apps ease of use is great compared to a website.

In terms of exploits, Nike Sonar (one of the biggest SNKRS) exploiters has pretty much failed recently due to the apps inconsistency.

Yesterday Nike announced a new CIO ....here's hoping he's better at the app thing then the last tech guy/gal.
