The 2015 NBA Draft Thread: Draft Day Is Here

Welp excuse me still a young unproven Coach

I think most people hold Brad Stevens in high regard...dude isn't looked at as a moron like other coaches around the league. He's going to be a great one.

On top of it all, who exactly will that fab 5 overtake in the East? 7/8 seeds like the Bucks/Celtics will be better going forward.

Brad Stevens proved he was one of the best young coaches in all of basketball when he took Butler to two championship games with an average to above average roster.

TJ Mconnell doing great in these workouts apparently, analytics like him, could be an undrafted steal like Delladova? :nerd:
I love TJ, think he's a great basketball mind and will be an excellent coach one day, but I dont see him ever being more than a 12th or 15th man type that just learns from the coach, plays hard in practice and winds up working his way onto a coaching staff. Brilliant player, just not physically gifted enough to make it in the NBA.

Brad is definitely proven and respected as an NBA coach already. Both of his squads have overachieved and he's maxed out nearly every player he's been given even though the roster has had constant turnover. Butler stuff is irrelevant at this point.

That All depends on what Moves are made and who's brought in to each situation... I for one think if the Celtics dont package some of those picks & Atleast sign a worthwhile FA their team isn't going to do Much of anything. It's but so long you can keep throwing Rookie Players out there at some point you have to make that switch & bring in Proven Talent.

The Nets are DONE for a long long time.

And the word on Brad Stevens being a "great" coach is temporary, we here it all the time when referring to a young coach who overachieves with bad talent, then once the talent is there & you don't take your team to the Finals in the first two years, suddenly the tide turns & you go from "Great coach" to fraud and some GM handing you your pink slip.

Hell the 2013-14 Knicks were a game back from the Playoffs & they didn't even have 5 Total players who started over 50 games for them.. The East is WEAK & i'm assuming an ALL NBA team level talent in Melo, and two guys who were starters (one being the best player on a 57 win team) along with some serviceable role players and another competent starter. would be enough to make the playoffs.

The year after when the cap goes up they will have additional cap room and can have Gain even more Flexibility in FA by trading a Prime Ty Lawson on a 1 year deal to free up some more cap or even in a sign & Trade.

I'm not against Them keeping their pick also, but If your gonna do that But then go and waste your cap on Maxing Monroe & Dragic or Carroll then I think your getting better Value Bringing in two players who are gonna come at a cheaper price, are younger, and are on shorter deals.

This is NT where Just last week Iv'e saw people call for Thibbs Job, Doc is an overrated coach, Spolestra is a bad coach etc etc...

But now i'm Suppose to call Stevens "Great" because he's coached some bums to a 40 Win season & a sweep. Can we please let the man have any kind of real success before we start claiming he's one of the Top coaches in the L.

We haven't even been able to see how he can help mold an AS Caliber player to a franchise player, If he can make the crucial switches & Calls in big games, How he performs under scrutiny or pressure, How he makes adjustment to lineups when Real talent is involved... All of these are CRITICAL factors in being a "great" coach and he hasn't even gotten a chance to show those yet.

I'm not saying that he's doesn't have potential to be a good coach but lets wait to a guy does anything of value before we start claiming he's a top tier coach.

Doc won with 3 hall of famers and hasn't done much else since then (or before). Thibbs job is being called for because of ownership's personal vendetta with him.

Stevens has proved himself at the college level and he's proving himself in the NBA. The man is a coaching genius.

ownership doesn't like him. the guy's a winner and has gotten his team to play exceptionally well through Pooh's injuries. he's gotten Jimmy Butler and Noah to take the next step as players. the knock on him is he plays his players too much and his offense isn't anything special, but he wins you games.

Stubbornness is a valid issue with him. I'm curious to see how he does in his next job. Hopefully he learns from this because the minutes issue really is a big problem that can be fixed easily.

Is there a way that the Lakers and Knicks can have a "handshake deal" that the Lakers will take Russell so the Knicks can get Okafor maybe get a side deal for a Tim Hardaway Jr for the trouble?? :nerd: :nerd:

That way the Sixers get "stuck" with Mudiay.

Sixers / Hinkie is all about BPA.

And there's no guarantee Okafor is there and they don't take him or someone throws a lot at the Sixers to move up.
at some point Hinkie is gonna build a team

He can't keep trading for 18 2nd round picks and think fans are gonna be ok with that.

He'd be an idiot and Fired at the end of the year.
He has embiid and noel, he will sit on the success of them plus the guy he drafts this yr.

the MCW looks better if they draft a guard. if they skip a guard for another 4/5 then yeah, this dude needs to be clowned some more.

Speaking of the Sixers... Is Embid set to be better than Both Towns & Okafor? I mean dudes Upside was really being likened to Hakeem

His seat is getting warm.

Fans will turn on him, pressure ownership to give him the boot. Every year can't be a 15 win season and expect people ain't gonna clown
