The 2015 NBA Draft Thread: Draft Day Is Here

Boston has a collection of mid to late 1st rounders, never knew why ppl were so excited about their rebuild ....unless one of their players turns into a star or they suddenly become a free agent destination ( which they never been ) they stuck in 7 -10 in the standings for a while

THANK YOU

100% agree

they have to package a few picks to get an established player in the league.

you can only go so far with Isaiah Thomas leading the way.

Sixers' Embiid suffers setback in healing process

The following is a statement from President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Sam Hinkie, regarding center Joel Embiid:

"As part of the conservative approach focused on the long-term health, recovery and care of Joel, we have been closely monitoring his progress, regularly evaluating his status and adjusting our plans accordingly.

"Recently, Joel and Sixers personnel traveled to Los Angeles for a series of routine exams with a number of physicians who have been actively involved throughout this process. During his visit with Dr. Richard Ferkel, a standard CT scan on Joel's right foot revealed less healing than anticipated at this point.

"Our priority remains providing Joel with every opportunity to ensure he has a long and successful NBA career, and as such, these findings cause us to pause and reassess his current activities. Together with Joel and his representatives, we will continue to consult with the experienced team of doctors who have been an integral part of his evaluations, while also engaging in dialogue with a broader set of experts and specialists.

"Discussions regarding the appropriate next steps are currently ongoing and we will share an update once it becomes available."

Really bummed to hear he's not healing up as expected.. hopefully it's just a minor setback and isn't a recurring thing.

The only franchise changing piece they have acquired in the last couple years is Embiid and they held him back to get the pick they gt now

And if they happen to Draft Russell dude isnt a franchise changer he can be a solid player tho, I wouldn't be suprised if they deal him at the deadline

You stay saying some off the wall ****

Teams don't often pick up franchising altering talent either. Most teams don't even have one

 bro im not saying stuff for shock value or anything like that, just seeing the moves ther 76ers made, has led me to believe they would do things like i stated

Past actions are the best indicator of future behaviors
Now why don't you go over the positive moves that Hinkie has made like sign Covington for dirt cheap, find McDaniels/Grant in the second round, got back their own pick from the disasterous Bynum trade from the Magic, traded vets that were likely to walk for assets (Turner, Hawes, Young).

And that's to go with trading Holiday for Noel and Saric.

Those are positive moves? How many wins have the 76ers amassed under his reign as GM

This league boils down to Wins and Losses and the negative moves he has done and the loses that accompany it are what everyone sees

Does it say whether he will miss next season or not?

This is already his second setback with the foot. I honestly hope he recovers but it's bizarre how similar him and bynum have been in philly with these injuries and immaturity.

I felt like the IT signing was basically admitting that marcus smart is not that guy. Or just a dumb move that will hurt his development anyway. They tried to trade picks for dragic and he didn't want to go there. Couldn't get javale mcgee of all people to take their money. Boston is a mess. Ainge has been gm for 12+ years and would have nothing to show if it wasn't for mchale gifting him kg. They have a team full of average players, they're a watered down version of the atlanta hawks. He's looking for the next harden trade and I don't see it happening.

From Woj:

After weeks of rigorous workouts, Embiid had not felt pain in the foot, but a recent CT scan revealed an issue in the healing process, sources said. Philadelphia is consulting with doctors on how to best proceed, and it's still premature to speculate on the possibility of another surgical procedure that could sideline Embiid, sources said.

Eyewitness accounts of Embiid's workouts in recent weeks in Southern California described dominant, explosive performances, offering a glimpse into the kind of potential that could have had Embiid selected first overall in the 2014 draft.

So it's not causing any pain and he's been dominant. Clearly, if it's not healing as anticipated, that's something where you should take a step back and reassess how to go forward like they're doing. But again, it hasn't been causing him any pain and he's been working out great. Any chance it can't cause future problems if he plays on it where it might be a healing abnormality that he can play through? Considering how he's already been doing so before it was detected.

Nope if another operation is needed then he will be out for another lengthy period of time like KD.

It's going into year three of a complete rebuild. The last thing they are concerned about are wins and losses.

So far the project has an F rating with only 1 player with star potential jn the fold

Also they seem to be stuck in rebuilding for 3 or 4 more years

When people support Sam Hinkie i really wonder like damn you dont want competitive games all year? Like the 76ers aren't competitive and are far from watchable

76ers havent even spent money on a respectable free agent, they are losing on purpose and some people are backing it

Dude said if im a 76ers I'd want them doing what they are doing, bro you are dead wrong for that, the team should at least try to be competitive, but then again Hinkie doesnt care about attendance and until dude has the product he envisions on the court, he wont stop intentionally losing

Dudes are actually backing intentionally losing :smh:
