I could definitely see Flip going with Okafor at 1. Personally, I think Towns is a no brainer at 1. He does everything and he does it all really, really well. Exactly what you want from your big man in today's game.
I'm not completely sold on Okafor dominating the post at the NBA. Scoring in the post is a just such a tough task in today's NBA. I have a hard time thinking of back to the basket centers that I truly fear. Guys that command a double team no matter what.
NBA centers are way bigger, faster and more physical than college ones. Combine that with the flooding defense teams play now - you really have a handful of dribbles before you take a shot. Most of the time it's a contested, bodied up hook - which just isn't that high of a percentage shot. Cousins was an absolute bully in the post in college yet he's had to adapt into more of a face up center, jump shooter, putback type guy. If Embiid were in this draft witbout injury history, I'd take him over Okafor.
