The 2015 NBA Draft Thread: Draft Day Is Here

I could definitely see Flip going with Okafor at 1. Personally, I think Towns is a no brainer at 1. He does everything and he does it all really, really well. Exactly what you want from your big man in today's game.

I'm not completely sold on Okafor dominating the post at the NBA. Scoring in the post is a just such a tough task in today's NBA. I have a hard time thinking of back to the basket centers that I truly fear. Guys that command a double team no matter what.

NBA centers are way bigger, faster and more physical than college ones. Combine that with the flooding defense teams play now - you really have a handful of dribbles before you take a shot. Most of the time it's a contested, bodied up hook - which just isn't that high of a percentage shot. Cousins was an absolute bully in the post in college yet he's had to adapt into more of a face up center, jump shooter, putback type guy. If Embiid were in this draft witbout injury history, I'd take him over Okafor.

Thinking about it if the heat can keep dragic , bosh and whiteside come back healthy....
coming away with one of

WCS
Stanley
Mario
Winslow
Myles

Along with another one of those Pat Riley mafiaso off seasons would be phenomenal moving forward

I and a couple others been talking about a Heat redux, they're in an excellent position.

As long as Whiteside can keep his head in check, they're going to fight for a top seed in the East next year.

I am not saying you are wrong, I just hope you are.......

Also I haven't watched the hornets at all....Do they have anything to look forward to between vonleh/zeller/hairston?

Would you rather your team use a top 10-15 pick on Devin Booker or a second rounder on Michael Frazier?

I ask because I care.

Granted I watched a fraction of the CBB I usually watch but I want zero parts of Devin Booker. Just never saw that much there.

I want him as a role player, think he can definitely develop into a niche starter. Defensively I worry about him though, he's going to have to work extremely hard to make up for his lack of physical tools

I'd take him if I were Utah or OKC easily

someone's gonna reach for Booker because he said he uses the Synergy app to study the game & his opponents tendencies

Yup.. I'd love booker in okc

Trade waiters, lamb and jones

Then we would have: marrow, dj, Roberson, rookie.. To go along with Westbrook at the guards spots.. Roberson gets mins at both SG and sf

If Jimmer, Seth Curry can't find a place in the league I don't know why anyone would think Tyler Harvey would.

Or they're gonna reach for him because he's a 6'6 deadeye shooter.

He fills a role from day 1 and he's a better athlete than advertised.

I think offensively, his physical tools will be solid. It's the other side of the floor that's a little concerning. He has solid size and wingspan though which should help him immensely

Booker is smart he knows where to be and what to do. He won't kill you can be good in the right circumstances.

JJ Reddick is a great example of this, not a good defender on paper but a good team defender despite avg athleticism due to smarts and discipline.

Booker's gotta go to a team where not much is expected of him right away. Utah at 12 of OKC at 14 would be ideal, like a few of you have said

Looking at Draymond Green it seems to me that the most underrated skill a big can have is after rolling being able to catch the ball around the foul line, mid paint area locate where the help is coming from and make the correct pass before the defense recovers.

How many in the bigs can do this at a high level? Can this give us a clue in identifying underrated/overrated prospects?

Top 5 at this skill would be?

Bottom 5?

Booker about to ride the Klay Thompson wave to a spot in the top 10 (looking at you Hornets/Heat).

May the basketball lord bless him unlike Stauskas.

I could definitely see Booker evolving into a role that JJ Reddick has. Manufacture his offense for him, come off screens and space the floor. If his stroke becomes elite, which is a possibility, the struggle to create shots for himself decreases. JJ's offense has gotten to the point where he can attack defenders who fall for pump fakes etc.

JJ isn't explosive and neither is Booker. Both don't have the physical tools nor the freakish length but are both really really intelligent and unselfish. They know what it takes to play a winning brand of ball

Booker tries defensively I just don't think he has the natural gifts to be a good defender
Good call, OKB
