The 2015 NBA Draft Thread: Draft Day Is Here

If Knicks draft Winslow instead of a PG....

I rather have Dragic for Lawsons 12 mill per
I rather have Millsap/Monroe/Draymond for Farieds 12 mill per

Dragic is 30 would be demanding a 5 yr deal & as of today he isn't a better player than Lawson
Faried is 25 & is getting payed 12 mill a year Green is clearly better but the Warriors are Finals Bound and he's a RFA

That leaves you with Milsap who is 30 is gonna demand atleast 13-14 a year or Monroe who is gonna demand a Max deal.

So either way your not bringing in a franchise Changing player, however atleast the players you will be spending money on come at a cheaper cost and are still just entering their Prime.

If the Knicks have 30 Mil in cap this season

Faried 11.5
Lawson 12.5
7th Pick 2.5 salary

So in total 26.5 million, however getting rid of Calderon (7 Mil) or Bargs ( 11.5) can leave the knicks with 10.5 million or 14 Million in cap leftt this summer

Lawson
Hardaway
Melo
Faried
WCS

Galloway
Early

And 14 to either bolster the bench or add another starter..

This roster IMO is absolutely aplayoff team & still gives you two assets in a year time who still have relatively good contracts & are in their prime if you want to make amove for a true Superstar player.

I disagree that Lawson is better than Dragic even at his age. Also if THJ is a starter then we're not getting very far.

Drafting a potential franchise PG then going after bigs in FA is our best option imo.

I don't think that Knicks team you came up with (Melo/Lawson/Faried/Hardaway/WCS) is better than 30 wins.

I can't remember the exact stat, but I think the Nuggets were pretty bad when Faried was on the floor. And that's saying something  He's a wee bit overrated.

I dunno, I think Melo takes that superstar leap we've all been waiting for.

Unless the Knicks get a trade offer that blows them away, their best bet is to stay at 4 and draft Mudiay or Russell.

If anything, they should see if Melo would be willing to waive his NTC. They could get a hell of a return and bolster their roster more, and have young(er) players to groom and grow alongside of whichever PG they draft.

TJ Mconnell doing great in these workouts apparently, analytics like him, could be an undrafted steal like Delladova? :nerd:

Lakers would probably do it too :nerd:

Its not worth it though. With no pick in 2016 if we trade Melo we're back in the top 5 next year.

That's where you want to be!  Then you have two star talents and a real building block.  Losing is fine when you have young guys developing.  Losing sucks when you've got a bunch of vets.

Nicks should trade Melo for Lakers #2 and rebuild. They could get Okafor and Mudiay/Russle. Plus they have monroe rapped up.

o wow a young Anthony Parker wasnt even in the league

well that was probabaly dude to bad luck and timing and the fact he became a star in europe and there was mroe stigma aginst guys coming back from europe back then.

Young anthony parker was really good would have been a high level role player in the pros.

"What I really want is a bulletproof legacy," he says. "How can I be known for being a visionary, for being truly great?"

"Here's where you stand," he says, pointing out the 1.7 million page views on Anthony's website in the past year and the recent doubling of his Twitter followers.

"That's good. That's real impact," Anthony says

"Forget basketball for a moment," Rodriguez says. "What some of these guys don't have is a vision. That's where you distinguish yourself. You're a guy who came up from the projects in Baltimore and achieved the American dream, and now you can share that with a generation of fans. You still have grit. You still have authenticity. We should take your website and do more videos, more lifestyle content, more of the high-tech stuff you're into."

"It's not just about the money. I want more than that," Anthony says.

"You want to be a cultural icon, a taste-maker," Rodriguez says.

"Yes," Anthony says, nodding, and in the empty and cavernous office his voice sounds small.

"I want to build something that lasts."

Trade this fool.  Please.

The 2012-2013 Nuggets won 57 GAMES IN THE WEST with their top 4 players in minutes being Ty Lawson, Iggy, Gallo, & Faried... There biggest role players were Dre Miller, Javale Mcgee & Corey Brewer...

You are on Drugs if you think that team can't easily be a playoff team in the East... The Celtics made it this year and they wasted the first two months of the season trying to tank

The disrespect that Melo receives in this thread is amazing.. I really wish he would have just did the superfriends thing so people could stop acting as if he's some sort of team cancer.

With Mudiay/Rusell + Okafor I dont see the main FA coming with no Melo. I'm not saying people will run to play with Melo but at the same time it wont be as convincing.

That team is right back in the lottery and we have no pick next year.

Draymond Green didn't shoot any 3's as a freshman and a sophmore and shot sub 70% from the line.

Compare that to Vince Hunter and the comparison becomes to stronger.

I want Vince Hunter as a second round pick badly, if you can make him a league average 3 point shooter, and get him up to 240, I think you have a steal.

Only question is the quality of competition he faced.

You don't even know if Derek Fisher can coach, but yet they are somehow winning 40 games on some hypothetical steez.

Melo - coming off an injury
Faried - coming off a down year
WCS - Rookie
THJr - ___________
Lawson - Good PG

Bench -

Early/Galloway - yeah...

Fisher - ?????

More questions than answers w/ that starting 5, bruh.

They need to draft either Mudiay or Russell and go from there....if they can find a taker for Melo, then great. The return will be fantastic and will make them better off int he long run.

Our entire starting lineup this year is a solid bench going forward.

Gallo
THJ
Early/Thanasis
Bargs/Lance Thomas
Aldrich

Now use our draft position and FA on starters.

Mudiay/Russell
Danny Green/Butler
Melo
Millsap/Monroe/Draymond
Robin Lopez

I'm just saying the Knicks need to get value out of this pick... If They gamble and this PG anything less than borderlin AS this team is gonna be sunk for another few years. Melo is 30, They have Ample ccap space & doing that trade would still bring them a top 7 young prospect in the draft.

The ceiling for Mudiay/Russell Vs WCS/Hendoza/Johnson etc etc isn't that large of a gap if you ask me.

LOL we dodged a bullet. Thank the old gods and the new every other day that Melo chose to rot in NY over LA.

Butler and Draymond are RFA, their teams will pay the max. Cross them off your list papi

I didn't say they would be a Contending team, i Just said that they wouldn't be a 30 Win team..

Have you looked at the rosters of teams at the Bottom of the Playoffs this year

Celtics
Smart(Rookie)
Avery Bradley (good Role Player)
Evan Turner ---------------------
Brandon Bass (Average Role Plyer)
Tyler Zeller :smile:rollin )

Isaih Thomas - Good 6th Man

Brad Stevens (Rookie Coach)

SEVERAL trades mid season & yet they finished with 40 wins in the East...

Lawson & Melo are infinently better than any of the guys on that roster.. and with 14 mill in cap space your talking about adding atleast one more starter and two servicable role players off the bench.

Isn't WCS ceiling = Tyson Chandler ?
A More athletic Tyson Chandler who Can also guard on the Perimeter.. In today's game a player that can contest shots, Rebound, & switch on Pick & Roles like that can be the difference in having a mediocre Defense & having a great Defense.

Ex Healthy Chandler on the Mavs/Knicks, Noah Over the years, To an Extent Draymond Green.
