The 2015 NBA Draft Thread: Draft Day Is Here

I'd take a chance on Upshaw if I'm a playoff squad.

Never understood why teams don't take chances on those type of guys late in the draft considering the success rate of any pick back there is low anyway.

Might as well take a lottery pick with baggage and hope for the best.
Exactly what I was thinking. I see he's projected to go late first round in mock drafts, can't really scoff at that value assuming he worked out for you and showed legit basketball skill

Upshaw is crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y. But a good enough liar to get through the interview process.

See this is what I was asking about earlier. Besides the reported failed drug tests, is this guy just a lost cause? Just another Reeves Nelson type guy?

I just watched 12 minutes of offense and defense highlights from Embiid at Kansas. My god I forgot just how skilled he is. And he can actually shoot the ball. Him and Noel with Russell to kick out to and Covington on the wing can be really special. Really wish I knew why we traded KJ McDaniels for nothing though...he would have fit in perfect next to those four.

Man if Okafor Towns and Embiid all turn into future all stars or better the C position in the NBA will be :smokin

This is NT where Just last week Iv'e saw people call for Thibbs Job, Doc is an overrated coach, Spolestra is a bad coach etc etc...

But now i'm Suppose to call Stevens "Great" because he's coached some bums to a 40 Win season & a sweep. Can we please let the man have any kind of real success before we start claiming he's one of the Top coaches in the L.

We haven't even been able to see how he can help mold an AS Caliber player to a franchise player, If he can make the crucial switches & Calls in big games, How he performs under scrutiny or pressure, How he makes adjustment to lineups when Real talent is involved... All of these are CRITICAL factors in being a "great" coach and he hasn't even gotten a chance to show those yet.

I'm not saying that he's doesn't have potential to be a good coach but lets wait to a guy does anything of value before we start claiming he's a top tier coach.

I think Stevens is going to be a great coach but this is ON point. No way dude has done anywhere near enough to be appointed that status already. Like Ty said, the tide turns so quickly in the NBA regarding your status as a "great" coach or not. There's been countless examples and it won't change anytime soon. In 2-3 years if Celtics aren't in the ECF or Finals Stevens will receive the same treatment every other coach faces.

I don't give a **** about narratives or hot take slapstick coaching labels.

Brad Stevens is a great coach. You don't need to see him reach the conference finals or whatever to reach that conclusion.

At the very least...he's in the argument for best in-game coach going right now.

And if you listen to pretty much all his current and ex-players...he's not going to have any issues getting superstars to "buy in" when/if that time comes for them.

Not gonna lie...I was rooting against y'all to have a come up like this with the extra blatant tanking. Not going my way so far though.

Vogel is solid but anytime you lose your best player and your roster didn't make improvements it won't be easy to win.

Word is that Upshaw has an airport full of baggage

Last rumor I've heard about him, involved him stealing laptops for crack or something of the sort

I think Russell will be best player from this draft. If I had to put money on who will be a bust, I'll go with Mudiay and Kristaps. The top 3 I think will all be good though, with Russell potentially being a superstar.

How do you rate him, considering his actual basketball skill set as well as his seemingly inability to focus off court

1st round talent but I cant give a potential crackhead a guaranteed contract. 2nd round pick maybe.

Also I hate to do this but he sounds like a complete phony in interviews, completely disingenuous. i hope im wrong.

has he actually been convicted of using crack? i know nothing of this kid, so trying to figure out things here.

no just internet rumors.

but when chad ford sais his drug issues were "worse than they anticipated" reading between the lines that says to me they something worse than just weed.

Vogel almost got a team led by George Hill int the playoffs

i'd say he did a pretty good job

yeah that ain't a good look at all for a first rounder. damn shame.

Imagine how unstoppable a 7 footer on crack would be?

He can play 48 minutes and he's rebounding and blocking everything.

Just make sure all the players lock up all their jewelry and you got a player on your hands.
Legit made me lol, everybody on the team would have safes in their lockers
