Looking to buy a car....

You won't find a lot for 10k and especially not something still in its bumper to bumper warranty. I'm not sure if the warranty transfers after the first owner, but Kia/Hyundai/Mitsubishi will be your best bet in finding something still in warranty because theirs is longer than any other brands.

Yeah. For the first owner. 2nd owners don't receive the same coverage unless a extended warranty was purchased ONTOP when financing/cashing out and signing contract. The 7 yr 100k is not transferable to 2nd owner. Defaults to 5 yr and 60 powertrain which is nothing compared to comprehensive/bumper to bumper. On a beater high mileage car. A dealer will either sell as is or with a 30 day 1k mile warranty. . Some even go 4 months 4k. Iam in the business and iam pretty familiar with all of this. Plus buying an extended warranty and what your car is eligible for depends on year and mileage.

As stated, look on Craigslist or other private owner places. You won't get a warranty, but you can usually get a good idea how well the car was cared for by having it inspected by a private mechanic. That shouldn't set you back more than $80 and will give you a full list of anything that's wrong with the car. I went through about 3-4 cars before finally settling on one. Was looking for over a year too, but it's been well worth it since I bought a car with ZERO depreciation value and a solid reputation.

If you just want a beater for that price, look into getting a 2008-2012 Ford Fusion. They have a pretty good history and solid record from what I remember.

my mother bought a new hyundai (forget the model) for 17K with a bunch of bells and whistles. It's a hyundai, but it's still a nice car.

I read that Mazdas were good for a daily commuting car .. Surprised nobody suggested thar

OP I don't know if it matters to you but for Hyundai's, their car values depreciate substantially. I would look into a different manufacturer if I were you.

Get an older Toyota or Honda n push it to the limit ...they last for years, cheap maintenance n you can grab some for way under 10 k n don't have to go through a dealer

Email a bunch of dealerships with what you're looking for and tell them you'll be buying a car soon and you're shopping around for the best price. Take a handful of the best offers and see if they can beat the dealership who gave you the best offer. If they can, email that original dealership who had the best offer and see if they'll beat that new best offer. Once you're happy with the price, go cop.

Sounds advice.

if you're not the mechanic type

isn't it just better to pay the markup and get it from a dealership where they have their own auto shop and have performed a full inspection

Anyone can get their own independent inspection before buying a car. It's not some magic that the dealership does, just an "addon" that they can charge a premium for and make more money on the backend since it provides peace of mind

CPO Civic, mane.

Cheap & reliable.

Just got a '12 coupe with 20K on the dash for 13K.

Ever bought a used car from a car rental spot. Eg. National Car Rental

There's a bigger chance that these rental cars have received a beating from the various users.
