How much do you spend on your pets?

My guinea pig got sick and we took her to the vet. The bill is going to end up being about 500 if they do surgery (and not great chances she will survive or live long after). Cant say no though....gf is already too sad about it and wants to do anything we can to save her.

One of my dogs ran away couple months ago. Ofcourse I was sad, and did what I can to find her, making flyers, calling dog shelters, driving/walking/running around the neighborhood where she was last seen.

No luck.... then my girl and her family decided to put a reward on the flyers. I expected it to be to be 20,40, maybe $100 (at worst)

Nope.... they put a $1000 reward. :x :smh: I had random *** people call me claiming they found her just so they can claim the reward.

I told my girl... "Hey sorry, I know you love her, I love her too... but I am NOT paying someone $1000 for A DOG I OWN! I'm not even gonna give them $500. Sorry!"

500 bones for a rodent?

I'd get the shoebox ready and let the little fella know he had a nice life, and that'd be that. Just cop a new one instead.

Lol yep. I think she is taking this hard because she has never had a pet before. Didnt realize the feels...was so so even about getting them.

I feel bad trying to treat pets like humans. I just try to treat em well while they are alive. Getting surgeries etc seems too much. People out there starvin and im spending 500 on a guinea pig. Sigh.

I have two guniea pigs myself and as much as I like the little things I'd never spend that. You can get a new one for $30.

I don't even want to know.. I know it's probably way too much (especially with my boxer who has been sick)

Don't care.. Completely worth it

The happiest part of my day is when I come home from work and I see how happy/worked up my two dogs get seeing me

Well, the vet called and said her breathing and heart are slowing down. RIP Cavy. These pocket pets and heart string

damn...sorry bruh

What's the life expectancy of a guinea pig? Can't be more than 3 years, right?

Waaaaaaay back in the day, my girl and I bought two gerbils on a whim (Rodney & Peete). One of them got sick and was pooping blood after a day or two of owning it. Took it back to the pet store and the employee said that they would take it in the back and do all that they could to see what was wrong with it, and they would give us a call. Obviously, the gerbils became snake food because we never heard back (got our $ back, doe).

Anyways, to answer your question, I spend A LOT on my two dogs. One has been battling bladder cancer for close to a year, so the vet bills can be pricey.

For a dog or a cat id probably fork over the money.
Anything else id have to really think about it.

Man those dudes look like they are about to be fed to a SNAKE or something.

But yea, El Gato get a few dollars spent on him sometime. Last thing I bought him was a bed from Groupon. Idiot peed IN it. Last time.

Sorry to hear about it man. My sister had two guinea pigs when she was little and unfortunately both passed away after a week or two of owning them. At least yours lived a nice life, however it's never easy to lose a pet/little friend.

I remember when I used to work at Petco people would drop off their unwanted pets (especially guinea pigs) all the time. I was out getting the carts in the parking lot one night and saw a huge cage sitting on the street with two little fellas inside. I felt so bad for them man. Brought them inside and ended up feeding them and keeping them in the back where the other sick/overstock (sounds horrible) animals were. I left the job shortly after and don't know what ended up happening to them, though I'm sure they were eventually sold.

Paid $350 to get a bone removed from my dogs bottom jaw. No idea how it got stuck there.

Ended up spending around 7 thousand on my dog's cancer treatment a few months before he died. I was going to try everything to keep dude alive.

Would spend whatever I have if needed to keep my dog alive if she needed it. Can't see myself getting that attached to a guinea pig tho
