How much do you spend on your pets?

Don't believe in pets.

Domesticated animals should serve a utility beyond placating human emotional neediness.

Already too many "pets" ending up in shelters & streets.

My turtle got too big for his tank. So I went into this phase and I started spending racks. New aquarium. New set up. New stand. New everything. Then I started buying rare and exotic fish. What a big waste. So I'm in the 15k range.

Ended up spending around 7 thousand on my dog's cancer treatment a few months before he died. I was going to try everything to keep dude alive.

A dog I can understand, I had one and loved her.

But not no damn mouse/guinea pig..nope.

dog got his eye gouged by a cat. after the whole thing was done, ended up spending about 4k to save the eye.

good thing for your dog, his owner is ballin. good on you though.

i always ***** when i get a vet bill, but if i got it, theres no way im not payin for a procedure for my dog. love her too much.

quick tally off the top of my head

eye surgery for entropian (i think thats what its called) $2K not covered by insurance
stitches and a drain put in after big gorilla dog tried to eat my dog $900
surgery to remove an eye cyst $1K
spay surgery $300
ER visit after my dog got into my stash and ate 2 grams of wax $500

I know I spent atleast another $3K in vet visits from random illnesses and bs like when my mom was watching my dog and thought she ate a golf ball.

Sounds like you have a spending problem

My mans sold 5 pairs of yeezys in two different scenarios before they costed 3k. For 2 5k treatments cause his dog got too fat and his leg needed some work.

Dam I got my kitten for $60 bones..
Bought some food $20

Pretty much it so far. Been about 2 months.

Never been to the vet yet, no shots, papers or anything...matter of fact I don't even know if it's a boy or girl till now. I love him/her tho.

Speaking of turtles...

My girl wanted a turtle, and I told her trust me it's a lot of maintenance

Ofcourse she didn't believe me and bought one of those $5 Red Ear Slider turtles from swat meet.

She thought it was so cute and adorable, so she bought a few more and bought a fish tank.

Little did she know, that those breed of turtles are very territorial and vicious.

We came home one day and 2 of the turtle's back shell was broken off, and she's panicking.

I told her what's up and inform her that the Alpha turtle is trying to bite the other turtle's legs off so they can drown.

What does she do? She takes the other 2 turtles to the vet (mind you, they are the size of a silver dollar)

Spends $150 ($75 for each) just for a vet evaluation, and all he told her was EVERYTHING I BEEN TELLING HER! :smh:

Case in point, she spent about $400 in about a month for those damn turtles.

I think I got everyone beat. My cat is 7 surgeries deep. Long story short, he had stones which lead to a tear in his urethra which lead to minor kidney failure which lead to him having a urine bag all while manually feeding him and dripping water in his mouth. One of those surgeries was $7K.....but he lived from all of it. That is why I tell folks that being a veterinarian or pet surgeon is a great job. Vets literally is a money making business.

Also Pet insurance is a total scam. We asked about it after the facts and it only covers about $2K at most and the deductible is like $500. Any surgery is way over $2K. Pet insurance is really only good if you send your pet to the vet for frequent check ups. From what I learned, pay to have a pet live or just be a man and let it go. Unfortunately me and my girl weren't man enough, so we paid for him to live.

Didn't know this was possible. I thought turtle shells can be protected against anything

Not when they're young... they're shells are still soft. They're probably soft as your pinky nails.

my condolences famb, few things worse than knowing your pet is in pain or dying.

in your case, that's a tough decision to make. I couldn't see myself paying that much for a guinea pig

if it means that much to your girl you can get a stuffed animal that looks just like your guinea pig from http://www.cuddleclones.com/ for considerably cheaper.

They do good work, I'll be looking to get one of my rabbit that died a few years ago. heres what a few look like:

Vets are the worst. The animal obviously can't tell you what wrong so they test them 30 different ways to "make sure" it's just a normal rash :x

That really is their mentality but it sucks cause it's so hard to self diagnose an animal. When I had my issue, I googled everywhere and tried to find out what was wrong with my cat and by the end of it, I was wrong. Spent almost a week trying to figure this out before going to the vet and it was almost too late. The vet even messed up on a procedure which costed us more money but we really couldn't sue or anything because they still saved out cats life. It's a horrible process. It's why I tell people to never get pets based on they are cute. They literally cost an arm and a leg when it comes down to it.

no limit...thats my son he'll get whatever he needs

Whatever they need man. Don't care, I'll spend it
