Technology Is Not A Good Look Vol. It Was All Good Just Flipping Signs Huh

What beef do you have with self-checkout on top of automatic sign waivers

people are constantly trying to cut costs. I see it everyday in construction.

I will never use a self checkout station.

Dog!

20 check out lines, 2 open with cashiers and no baggers.

6 self checkout stations.

I know I'm not trippin.

How is this not a major concern?

I don't support self checkout stations because that's not my job to ring myself up and bag my own groceries. Cashiers and baggers have that work and shouldn't be getting it taken away by a citizen, let alone a union member in good standing such as myself. I'd rather keep the people busy to ensure they have work.

So you rather stand in a long ### check out line and avoid the self check out line cause you want the cashier to do his or her job?? wow

. Not AI or anything like that, just something that moves a sign back and forth. A glorified poster on a wall.

I do my banking at BOA and these cats now have a teller machine where you can slip in your deposits and the teller working your transaction is not from that prospective branch as I was told. No thanks, I rather deal with a real person.

You can deposit checks by taking a picture of them and uploading them. It's about efficiency. I'm all for it. Unfortunately, a lot of "low skill" jobs and even higher ones are going to get replaced though.

Pretty much safest career turn at this point is learn how to build the robots that build the robots.

Hell, they got where you can go to the hospital over Skype now

Why waste time?

Because is bigger than that.

Every single company you know, aside from chic fil a, would love to totally do away with employees altogether. You know what that's gonna do to the economy? You know how much that's gonna stretch out the poverty gap? I know what you're thinking, "oh I'll get a degree and this won't be a problem..", but so is everyone else. Making your degree and all the debt meaningless.

I get the point OP is making(all this automation isn't going to be good for us in the long run), he just used a poor example.

lol look at my man flourish out here... it's 98 degrees and my boy is flourishin out here for lil Caesar's!

So when the robot doctors come and you're rushed to the emergency room, you gon be like "I'd rather wait for the human doctor to ensure he has work."

Rather take the robot doctor anyways. Humans make mistakes, I'm going to assume a robot green lighted to perform surgery has bulletproof code that won't error and accidentally remove my spleen.

They'd introduce a living wage by the time that happens otherwise dudes will be out here eating each other when everyone starts getting replaced.

I'd be less worried about automatic sign waivers and more worried about them taking your job too. Low wage workers aren't the only ones about to get the axe.

I don't think you're understanding me. It's not that I'm having them ring me up because it's their job (actually it is) but I'm doing it to keep them employed and ensure they can stay busy. Even if it isn't a career to them and it's just a part time job while they go to school. I want to make sure that job is available for the next guy.

You've got to understand, most of us are at the bottom of the financial pyramid in terms of money. Regardless of how much you make, you more than likely aren't making as much as the owners of a company. We got to stick together and make our lives as good as possible because the people up there sure as hell won't. Together, we're a lot stronger than any threat that faces the American people. :pimp:

Word, I enjoy going into branches and depositing or paying bills. Every BoA I go into is ugly, rundown, has two employees messing around in the lobby, and two tellers for 12+ people in line. It angers me. So I asked the manager if BoA was going bankrupt or what was the reason for which they couldn't afford to hire more tellers.

His answer was that there aren't as many people using the inside services compared to ATM (Which I don't think is true). Which is why I go inside so a teller can assist me. I made sure to leave a complaint with the manager while he was in the process of closing my account with BoA.

And what are you going to do to stop it?

I want to be a shrink, until a robot figures out how to read people, problem-solve and empathize I'm good.
