Am I seeing things or does that carbon fiber look red?

oook so how are they OG when they're based off of something else

space jams release Dec of 2000 and cool greys came out a couple months later also
original release of the ORIGiNAL 11s was 95

space jam the movie came out in 97

dpace Jams are just as "OG" as cool greys; they aren't

the OG 11s came out 95-96, most in 1996 I believe (could be wrong doe)

Spacejam the movie was released in the fall of 1996. Filmed in the summer of 1995. The Spacejams existed before any of the OGs released

There are even pics of the OGs pairs in this thread.

Like I said, there are so many nuances to this story that neither side came claim they talking faxs.
but those aren't space jams, they aren't blue...

looks ok so far....

I will be on board for this pair of 11's! That is all drops the mic and walks away until official pics surface. That is all!

The only 11s I want are the Concords and the Space Jams (wouldn't mind the Breds but everyone has them), the model is great don't get me wrong but is kind if overrated.  Plus these Retro + color ways don't really WOW me that much.

Space jams are a retro + colorway

Jordan himself wasn't OG in that picture

Bro i said this exact thing earlier in the thread. 11s are the most overrated model out of all 29 currently. I just don't understand the outlandish hype behind them. Maybe it's more history driven than anything else. But honestly, they aren't even in my top 10

Well I think their argument is that since the movie with the variation of the Space Jams we as consumers were able to buy came out so close to the original '95-'96 release, they could be considered OG. Even though the movie was technically released during the '96-'97 season. Quick question, what year were the Space Jams first made available to the public, in '96 or 2000??

Weren't the Space Jams in the movie just all-black upper Concords? I think they appeared blue because of the filter on the film, if I'm not mistaken. If this is the case we actually haven't seen "true OG movie Space Jams"

Seriously?

^ the guy is correct. Original space jams from the movie had a concord jumpman.

Fairly simple to google. I think Ben baller traded a Honda Civic for a pair.

Space Jams are retros.

Dude earlier said something about 11s the most hyped out of the 29. The 29. 29 is the amount of signature jordan models released where we expect one to release annually since 1985. When the XIs released in '95-'96 the colorways that released to the public are original releases. Colorways that never released and were exclusive to Michael Jordan the basketball player, are known as (you're never going to believe this) player exclusives.

The red pod 13s were around when the 13s came out, but never released, never an original release. They're player exclusives. When they released this past year that was the first time the colorway was released to the public on a retro 13, as a retro 13. Space Jams in 2000 were the first time that colorway released to the public in a retro model, hence the space jams are not OG, they're a retro.

I think if you understand that player exclusives don't qualify as original releases. If somebody was trying to collect jordan memorabilia and want to have sets, they'd want to complete the set with actual releases of air jordan shoes, the player exclusives are like gems. They're cool, if I ever get my hands on em I'd be super excited.

It's like if your boy told you "yo I got the original space jams" and you think oh this guy got a 2000 pair and not the 2009 and your like "oh nice bro" and he's like "Nah fam, not the 2000s the 1995s, THE ORIGINAL SPACE JAMS!" and smacks a pair of 1995-96 Jordan 11 player exclusives used in the actual movie on the table. It's like, he had to specify they were from 1995 and not the first release of the space jams, the 2000 retro.

^^^^ The camp James video have the Spacejam pairs with 23 on the back and a non Concord

The story has been out there for a minute that MJ got sent special pairs of 11s on set to where in the movie. Why would he need new pairs, when he already had his PEs.

The PEs you guys keep talking about don't appear to be the same shoe as the ones he wore movie.

my theory is that maybe he just wanted fresh pairs. I remember reading somewhere that MJ would have a fresh pair of shoes made for every game because he liked the feeling of playing in fresh sneaks, and he believed he played at his best that way.
