Did they save you money long term? Im looking to get one of the wifi joints where i can set and check temp whem im away. Also my electrict company offers a 100 dollar rebate. I need 2 so the Nest joint is out the picture since it runs 250 a pop. Any particular one you guys reccomend?

FYI... most thermostats are programmable. Might want to edit the title to say programmable wifi thermostat.

Unless you're schedule is erratic, or you need to turn it on while you're on vacation to keep the house from freezing, most basic programmable thermostats should do. Set it to turn on 15-20 minutes before you get home and you should be fine.

wifi in your thermostat sounds cool and all, but remember, wifi standards are updated every 3-4 years. So whatever you have now will be obsolete whenever you go to sell the home. Not to mention you better hope that the company that manufactured it still has an app that's compatible with whatever iPhone you have at the time.

Seriously...

It's probably more efficient to have proper insulation and maintain your comfortable temperature than to be raising and lowering it all the time. The wifi stuff is cool, but you gotta recognize when it's a gimmick.
